In bed
With flu
Kids haven't even been in to see me sad.....think they are scared of the pale sweaty coughing husk that has replaced their mother!
Happy Mother's Day to you all, whatever you are doing today x

coff33pot Sun 10-Mar-13 21:07:44

Evening all hope your Mothers Days all went well xx

Badvoc you have my sympathy we have only been a few days free of the flu in this house too and we are still lagging in energy so rest upand hope you recover quickly.

Had to work today as my mate who covers on Sundays put his back out so no lay in for me and it was freezing so I celebrated in the shop with a hot water bottle, cup hot chocolate and 2 x frys chocolate creeeeeeaaams yum. Got home to a roast dinner and had to have the carrots in a separate bowl due to it being DS contribution to my mothers day dinner. In other words he peeled them grin

Being partial to a Boost sounds a bit suggestive in the same breath as talking about scrummy Italian rugby players. Mmmmm.

Badvoc Sun 10-Mar-13 16:34:53

Do they still make those!?
I love them!
smile
I am also partial to a boost.
I have been watching re runs of phoneshop and buffy on iplayer.
Now watching the 6 nations.m
Some of those Italian boys are rather scrummy aren't they?
Hahahahahahaha
Srum my...geddit?

<think I need to lie down>

Sorry for miserable Mother's Days. sad

Dinkysmummy fantastic news, when's the virtual housewarming party? wine ?

DS3 had been talking for a good week about the surprise present he was going to get me. It was.....a Double Decker! grin Admittedly, my favourite chocolate bar.

Ellenora5 Sun 10-Mar-13 15:36:11

Happy Mothers day to all, I got a lovely card and glass of water, ds2 not allowed use the kettle yet, and then he told me I could treat him to lunch as he has no money but if I give him money he will pay when we were finished, fair enough, we're back now, pjs on, fire lighting and I'm seriously thinking of a take away later, (would that be bad considering we had lunch out)grin

Hope all of you feeling under the weather are better soon

PolterGoose Sun 10-Mar-13 13:58:57

Mad Men and chocs in bed sounds ideal

inappropriatelyemployed Sun 10-Mar-13 13:09:29

should be - I worked 9am to 11pm yesterday.

inappropriatelyemployed Sun 10-Mar-13 13:08:51

Got up. Kids ate my choc. Got a sore throat. Brother rang to get me to sort out all his problems (brother has cerebral palsy and lives in supported accommodation) and now DS is moaning as he wants the day to 'mean something' and I just want to go to bed and watch a dvd!

I have spent all week effectively TA'ing for DS in school and working eves on a writing deadline until 11 - I worked 9am to 11pm.

Am I bad to think mother's day with Mad Men and chocs in bed is good enough for me?

Badvoc Sun 10-Mar-13 12:44:21

...oh and it is snowing now!

Badvoc Sun 10-Mar-13 12:40:51

Thank you.
Sorry to hear about your dad Lougle. It's pretty grim alright sad
Have had a biscuit today but am regretting it! Managed to have a bath and ds2 washed my hair for me smile

AmberLeaf Sun 10-Mar-13 12:27:04

Happy Mothers day everyone smile

Get well soon Badvoc. flowers

DS made me a cup of tea and brought it to me in bed, he asked me to show him how last night [again- he usually forgets something] the tea was perfect and he was very pleased with himself!

No cards or gifts yet as my 16 yr old who organised it all is still asleep!

PolterGoose Sun 10-Mar-13 12:19:25

hazey and lougle envy

Happy Mothers' Day everyone.

I am up to my eyes in cooking a dinner for Mum -Dad has what you have, Badvoc, it's vile. He's been really poorly, starting to be on the mend now, but can't risk giving it to DD1 - she'd be absolutely floored. So he's sending Mum up for dinner, which is a really big deal because she has long-standing depression and is unhappy to leave Dad without dinner. I'm making her favourite pudding grin

I got a box of forrero rocher, which was nice. They also got me a mug with a teddy in the box and they kindly reassured me that now I have a teddy to cuddle in bed grin They'd each made a card for me. DD2 had sewn a beautiful heart at school - she'd worked so hard with really neat stitching; quite an achievement for a 5 year old! DD1 had planted me some pansies in a little pot with tissue paper around it.

Polter, count your blessings - I nearly lost Mothers' Day altogether because DD2's school had changed the day to Friday wink

Happy Mother's Day lovelyssmile

Am sat on the bed with some chocolate and Ame ('mummy, we're drinking wine!'), listening to my new Frank Sinatra cd (from girls, ds got me Nick Drake - good taste!) it is lovely. Dh handed me the Ame, chocolate and iPad and told me to have a 'puddle of peace and quiet'.

Breakfast in bed didn't quite work out, because ds was screaming the place down, he is absolutely encrusted in snot, poor little thing.

Have just been for a walk to put flowers on a dear friend's grave, whilst dh starts getting lunch ready, then dd gave me a poem she had written, which made me cry, I feel very very lucky.

Hope everyone has lovely days.

Badvoc Sun 10-Mar-13 10:49:47

Awwwww....
Sleet here, no snow yet.

Strongecoffeeismydrug Sun 10-Mar-13 10:41:57

Polter that is so funny...
Love little polters take on the day but how are you finding the time to be on here shouldn't you be busy showcasing all your motherly talents smile

PolterGoose Sun 10-Mar-13 10:34:14

Not only did I get a card to display with a picture of ds's current favourite creature... I have now been informed that we've all got the concept of Mother's Day wrong. Apparently, according to ds, it is actually a day for mothers to show off their mothering skills, and that I will have to work very hard shock

Strongecoffeeismydrug Sun 10-Mar-13 10:16:44

I got flowers and chocolates(the kids favourites!) and a lovely card DS made at school, however he associates cards with birthdays so I've had happy birthday sang to me on a loop since 5 this morning smile
If the queen can have 2 birthdays a year then it's fine by me too smile
Happy Mother's Day ladies .

sweetteamum Sun 10-Mar-13 10:11:42

Happy Mother's Day all.

My LO is unwell been up all night with a upper tract infection!!

DVD and Pjs day for us and I might sneak out later for a swim!

bjkmummy Sun 10-Mar-13 10:02:32

All calm and happy here. Lots of cards and some home made gifts. Got a new troll bead which was an angel. Rather apt as it made me remember my own mum today who is sadly no longer with us.

Younger son busy on minecraft, elder son is feeling poorly so crashed on the sofa. Going to get dressed and me and my 9 year old daughter going to go out and have coffee and cake in our favourite cafe and get away from the boys for an hour or so
