Ski and snowboarding

Should we have a childrens ski clothes pass on thread, for all those who are going and want to kit out cheaply, and for us who have grown out gear??

I have seen loads on threads asking about places to buy ski gear, but I have some which is now outgrown and would be happy to pass on/sell for postage or whatever. BUT it is not in the same vein as the 'for sale' boards, so I wondered if we should start a thread on this??

I know I have a few bits for 3 - 4 yr olds, without checking I think I have some black salopettes, a pink ski jkt, a blue and grey all-in-one (v unisex so useful, bought from MN a couple of years ago!!) Actually I have 2 of the all-in-ones, but I wouldneed to see if DD2 fits the larger one, if not I have one in aged 2 - 4 and one in aged 4 - 6. Also have a couple of gap polo nucks that we used as base layers in age 4. May have some gloves too.

Perhaps if anyone has other grown out bits they should post here to pass them on. Ski stuff is hardly ever worn out and is pricey to buy all new. It is bad enough buying the thermals/gloves/goggles/hats/socks without the outer layers too.

For accessories I got stuff from Sainsburys (£5 for ski-gloves) and ASDA. They seemed to be the cheapest places.

I would love an all in one for my DD who will be nearly 2 by the time we go away

What would you want for it?

I am interested in clothes for a boy aged 5. Happy to pay postage. Will pay extra for anything with Thomas the Tank engine on it!

At the risk of confusing everyone, what I really want is clothes for a tall 4 year old, but since he is only looking a little too short for 5 year old clothes at the moment, but also eating and sleeping lots, I predict a growth spurt...

This thread is a great idea, thanks Crunchie.

MMMM My all in one would be too big I think unless you have a VERY tall 2 year old. Friday the bigger all in one would probably do you, it is light blue and grey, unisex really, not Thomas I'm afraid. I will dig them out and see how much postage will be.

MMMM I do have some tiny gloves I think, I will look.

ANY OTHERS GOT STUFF????

o YES please!

we are thinking of ski-ing, but whilst the hol would be just affordable, the gear makes it totally out of range.

I've definately got a red and grey all-in-one ski suit age 5-6 (though looking at it I think it'd easily still fit ds1 who's an average sized 6 year old). Free for postage. Almost certainly have some other stuff too if I can ever find time to dig it out now I'm back at work and dh is working abroad.

Oh I'm going to be really cheeky here and ask for some bits if anyone doesnt mind!

DD is going to Austria with dh skiing for the first time in March next year but she will be doing some lessons before at the indoor snow place.

Shes going to be 4 next week but atm is wearing size 3-4.

If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it and will be happy to pay

nbg I am sure I can help here, if you can wait until the weekend. I am pretty sure I can do you black salopettes and pink jkt I think the hood maybe lost, but with helmet and goggles it doesn't matter (jkt was useful for shcool too) I also have an all in one, light blue/grey aged 2 - 4 (large ish I think) I have a couple of gap polo necks I used as base layers and possibly some other stuff.

I will see what I have, post ithere and we can go from there.

Might have a jacket, prob 3-4 was for dd, but if not too girly I will keep it for ds2, but if it is too girly (need to dig it out of attic and look) then I would be happy to pass it on. Also prob have some gloves, but would need to look

noonar · 06/10/2007 09:02

mmmm, my outfit is sized 92 cm. if she's under 2, you may be better going for a 18m- 2yrs snow suit, as we found it incredibly hard to things small enough for dd2, aged 2.5 last yr as the age 2-3 stuff was massive!

No not at all, it sums up Mumsnet completely. The skigear, the recycling of clothes, the wish for a better organised way of doing things ... Mumsnet is entirely filled with people like this. It draws them, like a moth to a flame.

And I know, for I am like this too (minus skiing but you see my point)

noonar, I reckon it is easy,
if you have stuff, post
if you want stuff post
If you see stuff you want then post
After that negotiations off board via email
Payment any way that is agreed between to consenting adults

Now Noonar I maybe able to help you out this afternoon, I will go in my garage, look at what I have and post it. I am sure I have bits for you inc a snow suit, salopette and jkt for a small child under 100cm

As far as payment I can do paypal or cheque, but really I just want enough to cover P&P and hassle IYKWIM

Can I just say that Oxfam on Ken High St is fantastic for second hand ski gear as it is next door to Blacks/Snow and Rock etc so people drop their old stuff off when buying new

I have spent ages looking for this thread!

Just wondered if anyone had any ski bits left and if so what you got and how much do you want for it all?

We've managed to get dd in for ski lessons for 4 days in December so she needs some kit pretty soon.

TIA.
