It's always fun to see if you can spot another MNer on the slopes wink

Whippet - Les Gets - First week in Jan

madwomanintheattic Thu 08-Dec-11 15:26:30

Banff area (mostly Sunshine, but Lake Louise, Norquay, Nakiska, possibly Panorama, Castle Mountain, Kicking Horse, maybe Marmot if I can get it together)

all season.

grin

Are you a ski rep? or do you LIVE there?? (Be careful - you may have MNers arriving on your doorstep!!)

afishyweddingfairy Thu 08-Dec-11 17:39:26

Avoriaz in 16 days. And somewhere else in France in February.

The next 16 days can't go fast enough - though I'm making them pass faster by obsessively checking the snow reports!

2 separate weeks skiing!
hoarray!
1 was planned before the moment I got back from this year's holiday. We are going again with snowbizz. It works very well for us.

The other is a last minute job, very exciting as we are going to drive (I plan to start a thread about that). To a new place! The children aren't really aware but I am already mega-hyped.
That is in La Norma. If it works, we might drive again! (would make skiing cheaper and more flexible).

The webcams are on my favourites list.

i live here. grin
we finally moved here in the summer, so this will be our first full season (spent the last two weekending). dd2 now gets skiing as part of the pe curriculum. how funny is that?!

i'm always ready for a coffee. grin

greygirl Thu 08-Dec-11 18:07:22

it sounds wonderful. I want to move to Canada, but my husband thinks he will miss his mom hmm

We have to drive 2 hours to the snowdome for a weekend fix, how sad is that?

Whippet Thu 08-Dec-11 19:10:22

Oh MadWoman... I am soooooo envy

Where exactly are you? <plans trip..>

MsTimTam Thu 08-Dec-11 20:40:43

Was in Banff 10 years ago, LOVED Sunshine, am so jealous! Once our dd's older want to take them there...

We're going to Belle Plagne with Esprit on 22 Jan, will be dd1's first time on skis, and our first time back since dd2 was born.

Am so excited, have been crazily checking snow reports for the last 2 weeks! grin

Lexilicious Thu 08-Dec-11 21:45:17

I'm just shopping right now for somewhere for 7-14 Jan, for just me and my dad. (DS only 2yo, DH not much of a snowbunny).

I'm quite keen on going high up because of the snow not getting started very quickly this season. Also I don't like long transfers on coach so I'm thinking of going on the Eurostar snow train.

Need recommendations...

madwomanintheattic Thu 08-Dec-11 22:02:29

just outside the national park. <narrows it down to the one town left>

am lol at dh's mom greygirl, mil seems to spend most of her time here and bought her season pass before we did... grin they arrive next weekend for 6 weeks, and i had 9 weeks of visitors this summer. september was quite a relief!

PatriciaHolm Fri 09-Dec-11 11:01:42

Off to Sainte Foy next friday. It finally seems to be snowing....!

Lexilicious Fri 09-Dec-11 12:47:28

Booked! Twin in a chalet in Les Arcs 2000, going by Eurostar.
Now got to decide whether to get a full-area pass or not... It's been three years since I last skied (at 20 weeks preg!) and I am not as fit as I used to be, so wondering whether I will get the most out of the Paradiski. Haven't checked the snow yet either - eek!

onthebackseat Fri 09-Dec-11 13:12:12

banff in 13 days and then Montgenvre in Feb half term. have turned into a twice a year family !!!

madwomanintheattic Fri 09-Dec-11 14:40:57

oooo! <waves to otbs> banff for christmas, how lovely! sunshine is looking splendiferous, only goat's eye left to open. [grin] no snow in the valley yet (well, a bit, but not enough) but the slopes are looking fine.

FannyBazaar Fri 09-Dec-11 19:36:29

Ellmau, Ski Welt Austria for Christmas.

captainbarnacle Fri 09-Dec-11 19:41:25

Chamonix in 11days! No skiing for me this year with 6m old bf baby, but 5 and 3year olds will have a blast!

madwomanintheattic Fri 09-Dec-11 20:06:27

blush ds1 was in daycare at 10 weeks. fully on-demand bf. they gave me a pager for when he started screaming. the skiing was great, but he came down with double pneumonia c/o rsv a few days later. blush

captainbarnacle Fri 09-Dec-11 20:44:25

Aw. Not your fault! My ds3 was prem and decided am going to embrace the time the two of us will get on our own, drinking hot chocolates and cheering on the bigger boys :D

mulranno Sat 10-Dec-11 00:08:14

Back out to our lodge in Vaujany which we bought and rennovated last year on a mad whim to rent out - but all going pretty well considering the economic climate...lots of snow already and another big fall forcast for next week - whoop whoop wheeeeeeee

clam Sun 11-Dec-11 16:16:36

Risoul (France) in February - 14 of us at the last count. Not much snow at the moment, but there's plenty of time yet.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 12-Dec-11 08:04:05

Lexi, definetly get the full area pass. From Les Arcs its one long blue run to the Vanoise Express and then you can go and explore the La Plagne side as well. Some of the runs above Montchavin are lovely.

We're off to Val D'isere mid Jan going with Esprit. Should I wear the MN scarf on the slopes? grin

SkiBumMum Mon 12-Dec-11 08:09:07

Whistler in March. grin DD1 first time; baby DD2 in granny-daycare. Sis lives in Vancouver so can't wait to see her either. grin

DH going to Chamonix for a weekend in Feb too envy

Risoul / Les Orres in 9 days time. Snow utterly dire at the moment. Web cam marginally better today, but it would need to snow for 10 days solid to improve things....

clam Mon 12-Dec-11 15:37:16

fedup there has always been snow in Les Orres at Christmas. Even when other resorts have had none. Fingers crossed for you.
