tech it would also be jolly useful if you had a back to active convos list at the bottom of both the active convos list and each thread.

Think of all the poor folk on phones and pda type devices. It is a common feature on most fora.

sorry back to active convo LINK - at the bottom of each page.

Cuts out a lot of scrolling about and increased reading time!

I just drag the icon from the address bar onto my links bar & then it's available wherever I am on the page (may not work on a pone/PDA though)
I currently have links to active convos & threads I'm on, and I often temporarily put on threads I'm always going back to - I have the Least Professional moments one on there atm

Wow, I didn't know you could do that! I've just done it and now this thread will always be available to me immediately Think I might try it with something else...

ooh, love the home key thing (don't understand the dragging and clicking stuff, rather embarrassing for someone who purports to run an online business )

On the address bar there is an icon just before the

Click on that and drag it down to the tool bar just below the address bar et voila! It's very exciting finding new bits to play with. No I'm being really sad again

Yes that's the one. How strange. I'm using Firefox - do you think that's got anything to do with it? Hang on, I'm going to try it on another thread (it won't let me do it again on this one)....

Hmmmmm. I have just done it with the Harriet Harman (loathsome woman) thread. I have two bars below my address bar, the first has quick links and the next is AVG. It won't go onto the AVG bar, but sits happily in the links bar. Can't remember what IE looks like.

I'm on IE- I keep getting a "nooooo, stop what you're doing right now" sign

Report
Jux · 21/11/2008 23:33

Get Firefox, it's much nicer!

you can do a similar thing in IE, see here

Report
RustyBear · 21/11/2008 23:41

I can do it on IE7 too - you hve to drag it to the bit of the toolbar labelled Links, or you get the 'no entry' sign - when you right click on a blank bit of the toolbar, do you have 'Links' ticked on your drop down menu?

Jux · 21/11/2008 23:41

Ooooh NCbirdy, you're so clever.

Firefox is still nicer, mind you.

quick notes;

right click bottom toolbar, click toolbars, click links.

links bit appears on toolbar.

go top of MN page, click active convos and drag to links bit on bottom toolbar.

Lol Jux no, I just figured there must be a way and clicked stuff till i made it work!

I have never tried firefox (which is weird as I have a degree in Computing )but everyone I know who knows anything about computers swears by it!

Report
RustyBear · 21/11/2008 23:45

You can do it in Google Chrome too...

Report
Jux · 21/11/2008 23:47

I tried Chrome for about half an hour, but I don't think it liked my computer. Might try it again (ps, in our house I'm really advanced - dh is still using IE6).
