Get on with it, daters.............
Place mark with no news, but singing lots of madonna.
Aha, new thread
Updates from me. My first foray into online dating seems to be going ok. Been chatting to a girl since Sunday, and exchanged quite a few messages. I'm going to call her The Geek (in a nice way! I'm one too, and she did say she liked star wars and dr who, completely un-prompted by me).
My question to all of you is when is it ok to ask to meet? It seems soon. It we're getting on well and I've seen the advice not to chat for ages and build it up until you know there's a spark there.

Woohoo, new thread!
Bill I'm nooooo expert but I would say meet The Geek for a coffee (small 'c') or a quick drink fairly soon. All the messages in the world are no substitute for the ellusive spark.
Juliette did you say on the last thread that you had a conversation with cowboy man? It was me who posted the link - what was he like? What did he say? Did you meet him? If so is he really THAT strange?
All is good with 'The Ironman' and me. We are way past dating and all is sweet.
Just place marking...Bill if you want to meet her just ask

Bill if you've been chatting for a couple of days I would suggest in your next email either a chat on the phone or meeting up for a coffee, maybe ask in a 'how do you feel about ...." and gauge the reaction from there. Good luck and report back!

Crikey, gone for a few hours and we're on a new thread already!
Bill - I think it's best to meet as soon as possible, I find if you leave it too long you end up as glorified pen pals.
I'm going to stop being a meanie and accept that mr tall is just being enthusiastic and nice in his frequent texts. I'm just not used to someone being very interested in me, it's usually the other way around! In fact now I've said it I've probably totally jinxed it...

Can I join up?
Awful, messy end to LT relationship back in Aug (exDP leading a double life for two years).
About me, 34, no DCs (hope that changes in future) and slowly dipping my toe in the shark-infested waters of dating again.
So far, I have had a couple of very brief flings
and a date with a colleague on Friday gone. I don't want a repeat of that.
I am thinking of trying online dating in the new year and this seems like a good place for inevitable handholding required!
Looking forward to reading about others' experiences too!

Nice one Flo...yes i second the glorified pen pals scenario and then it can be a real disappointment if you meet up in RL and no spark.
Sigh I am bloody fed up of Crimbo already ...I know you guys have already touched on this but I feel really MISERABLE about it. Got to make sure the kids have a good time tho...I wonder how many condoms Bant has used up yet???? See how easily I am distracted?lol

Yep Stookie I read about the ex on your thread bloody shit, mine did something similar over 4 years..arse!
stookie. I think I remember your thread too. Bloody hell. Welcome to the fray! All I would say is look after yourself, all this happened about 4 months ago(?) everyone is different and by all means give it a whirl, but you may find you need more time to get your head around it. Disclaimer aside, you deserve some fun. Go for it.

Thanks snapes
you are right of course.
It was crap for a good while before the end, but I am still dealing with it so strictly fun only at the moment.
Unless Bradley Cooper pursues me - I'll make an exception for him

No not really...what a bloody misery...no! wait! Champagne! yes! Suddenly it might not be so bad afterall....
ike I'm really not looking forward to Christmas this year either. The kids are just old enough to understand and get excited and I'm now not there with them. Really gutted about it to be honest.

nature It was me that had a conversation with the cowboy/indian.
It went something like this:
Cowboy Introduces himself. Very formal.
I check out his profile. He has tons of interests but in the bit 'about me' just lots of xxxx
I suggest he adds the letter x to his extensive list of interests.
He laughs, and says he is very honest blah, blah.
Forget what I said next, but he gets the wrong end of the stick and thanks me for the English lesson.
I reply. English lesson. confused.
He is sorry his mistake.
I forgive him.
He is glad we had the conversation. Do I agree.
I have left the building.

Evening all,
Butting in!! Touching on what Snape has said - how do you know when you are ready? And is it too close to Christmas to join up on a site now? Will it be full of people looking for bedroom action or those with a lot of unresolved issues?

Thanks 48 although that is surprisingly dull, not the Native American woo-fest that I was hoping for at all.

if you threw in a few huns n lols -basically crossed wires and confusion
Bill yes time to meet now. Otherwise you have no idea if she really does want to meet someone as some people seem to like the endless messaging and nothing else.
Stookie I remember your thread. Welcome.
Nomore if you're not sure you are ready, you are probably not ready. This (unmentionable for me from now on) time of the year does attract more odd ones as they try to rush for someone before 'it' arrives. No harm in looking though, you never know.
