The Archers - It's not about the money, money, money, think about Jill's honey, honey, honey, Justin wants to farm by satnav, forget about the prize tag.

Will The Dopeys have buggered off by the end of this thread?
Will Tom finally reach home, after weeks of trekking through the tundra?

BringYourOwnSnowman · 26/11/2014 21:09

I'm hoping the dopeys will fall into the sinkhole

Rob having murdered Tom and fed him to the pigs is just as plausible as some of the other storylines

Panzee · 26/11/2014 21:12

Clearly nobody hates Ruth's family as much as me. I am ecstatic at the prospect of them buggering off forever.

I also know that it won't happen, though. :(

Minimammoth · 26/11/2014 21:19

Can't we vote them out? A bit 'I'm an Archer get me outta here'. The story lines are probably drawn out of a hat anyway.
< blatent place marking>

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 26/11/2014 21:21

Lovely new thread! Thanks, Pseudo.

Does anyone else remember 'And now, an urgent SOS message for Mr aJim Bloggs, believed to be travelling around the North of Scotland in a Dormobile. Would you please contact Anytown Hospital where your mother is dangerously ill.' They used to pop up quite regularly on Radio 4 in the days before the mobile phone. If they still have them in Canada, Tom could do with one right now.

PseudoBadger · 26/11/2014 21:29

We are ecstatic Panzee!

trevortrevorslattery · 26/11/2014 21:32

Hullo! Just marking place. Thanks for the new thread Smile

Panzee · 26/11/2014 21:39

Phew! Sane people!
The Archers page on Facebook is very grumpy indeed. I thought I was in a team of one. :o

PseudoBadger · 26/11/2014 21:42

But they have to take Pip with them.

OP posts:
guineapiglet · 26/11/2014 21:45

Mimsy I have been thinking along those lines...surely if it was that critical good old Interpol would have sent out a Mountie on a horse (obviously!) to search the wild plains of Canada to snatch Tom from the claws of a mountain bear..or failing that, just checked the immigration visa records. Or the cops here could have asked family...I'm looking at you, Rob.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 26/11/2014 21:46

Can't they throw pip in the sinkhole. If they take her with then there is always the risk she will come back

BringYourOwnSnowman · 26/11/2014 21:49

They are really stretching the limits of believability re Tom.

Maybe he has got the voicemails and is on his way back without telling anyone cos he can't get in touch with them (pesky phone signals) or because it's in the script to let rob get all comfy as boss of the farm only to have Tom boot him out (although wasn't Tom a little in his thrall so likely to agree an it will just be poor johnny fighting to keep Tony's wishes alive)

TeenyfTroon · 26/11/2014 22:24

Mimsy, I remember the Radio 4 emergency callouts for relatives. I'm sure there was a programme following some of them up a while ago, but I was driving and distracted. Maybe someone knows where it and we can listen to that when we've finished Cabin Pressure...

halfwildlingwoman · 26/11/2014 22:31

I'm sure you've covered this, but the new Pip sounds exactly like Helen.
And WTF is this sub-plot with the Tregorans and their various half/step children/ex spouses? Where is Phoebe living?

OddFodd · 26/11/2014 22:54

Oh yes I so remember those calls for emergency help on R4! I always wondered if they did them on other radio stations (being as I'm wedded to R4, I don't know). I like to imagine relatives choosing the optimum station for contact. (bloody hell, I sound like Carol :o)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/11/2014 22:59

Woooh... (Ghostly sounds.)

All those random male extras? I'm wondering if Tom has secretly returned and is working as a waiter at Femme du Monde during the day and moonlighting as a hospital porter so he can be near his poor old dad. He can't reveal himself because Rob paid his fare to Canada on condition that he never, ever came back.

Thanks Pseudo (And Lil'G.) With this title we are really fooling the Editor about our extreme youthfulness ...

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/11/2014 23:01

Those urgent BBC messages used to terrify me.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/11/2014 23:20

I've got a cousin who lives in Canada who gets to more family events in the UK (funerals mostly nowadays) than I do. They do have phones and transport you know. (sometimes at the same time even. Cousin once accidentally misdialled a number and found himself talking to a truck driver who had an English accent. They got chatting and my cousin asked where he was from and it turned out to be a bloke who'd lived in my cul-de-sac till a few months before, our DDs used to play together.) Well, in a world where that can happen it seems extraordinarily unlikely that we've not heard from Tom!

minklundy · 26/11/2014 23:37

Was Tom mentioned in last episode? Dcs kept interrupting

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 26/11/2014 23:40

Yes. Lilian told Jenny of the many and varied means by which people had tried to contact him. I'm just longing for the plausible explanation.

ResIpsaLoquitur · 27/11/2014 00:02

Panzee, what are they so grumpy about on the Facebook page?

Eastpoint · 27/11/2014 00:08

I haven't listened since Sunday but these threads are providing me with a gentle range of characters who I'm coming to know. Thank you Pseudo. I wonder if I can have a ticker at the bottom of my posts - 3 days clean etc

unitarian · 27/11/2014 00:38

Great title. Thanks yet again.

Of all the 'Where's Tom?' possibilities I like best Araminta's one in which Rob bumped him off!
The new actor is going to be a voice in a séance next time Jenny logs on to the other side, which will be even more nonsensical when no one recognises the voice.

Kenton's going to let the Justin offer slip out, isn't he? Make Adam choke on his pint.

If D&R couldn't pay the sibling shares if they got 5 million and can now they're getting 7.5 million does that mean the sibs get 2.5 million split 3 ways? I didn't hear one of them worry about Jill moving away in tonight's episode. Too busy with their calculators?

I love Unitarian's explanation for the absent Tom on the previous thread. Donald Sutherland's grandson made me rofl. (Faints with pride at providing new thread title - love this thread more than the programme at the moment!)

Panzee · 27/11/2014 07:06

ResIpsaLoquitor you name it, they're grumpy about it! Mainly "...this isn't the Archers I've known and loved for a million years...". But they've been grumbling about every storyline for as long as I can remember, so I. Don't know if they've ever loved it.

I'm loving the storylines at the moment. Such a small community Is always at risk of one or two individuals changing everything with one house/farm purchase.
