Swine flu... Just after a 'yes' or 'no' to guage general opinion...

Hi Ladies,
Myself and my 11 month old son have booked in for the swine flu jab on Tuesday (I'm 19 weeks pregnant).
I'm still completely undecided about whether or not to have it - my doctors don't offer Celvapan unless you're allergic to eggs and I've read all the info on it but can't quite make up my mind.
So I thought it might be useful to just see by a 'yes' or 'no' response to see how many people are/aren't going to have it.

Hi. I had it yesterday (25 weeks)after a lot of mind-changing. DD (3) will be getting it when offered. Only you will know what's right for you and yours though. Good luck.

I know - people keep telling me to trust my instincts but I think I've had information overload and so don't know which way is up at the moment...

I had it 2 weeks ago, at 35 weeks pregnant.
Probably won't give it to DS although he hasn't been called yet and DP has. Figure if we both have it DP is at less risk.

hi! i chickened out at doctors yesterday, when i asked some questions about it i did not get any reasurring answers, which didnt fill me with confidence. am 34 weeks xx there is still not enough info for pregnant ladies available and what there is is wooly!!!!! still a bit undecided i am gonna speak with my midwife next week.

Yep had it 3 or 4 weeks ago now feel fine, baby is fine just had a dead arm for a few days!

Had mine on Weds. on balance I decided that, for me, the benefits outweighed the potential risks and that at 31 weeks baby is getting on for fully cooked! Neeko is right though - only you can decide what is best for you. All the best x

Yes for me - am pregnant. Was just into final trimester when I had it.

And yes for DS too.

Yes for me (had it at 23 weeks).

Yes for dd (high risk group and aged 5).

No. But am now 37+ weeks. I don't work with children and I don't use public transport so I figured that I was lower risk than others.

Chatted it through with SIL who's a Dr and she thought that this was a sensible approach.

Had my circs been different I think that I might have come to a different conclusion.

Yes - I'm having it on Tuesday at 29 weeks. DD (21 months) will have it when offered too.

Yes - had it at 27 weeks. Dd who is 2.3 had it a week ago. After a lot of thought we decided that the risks from SF to those who are pregnant or young children are real and possibly fatal whereas the fears about the jab are thus far unsubstantiated. We were worried that if we did get it at a time of rising numbers of people getting it that the NHS would be overwhelmed and unable to help - there are only 5 ECMO machines in the UK.

Nine 'yes' to five 'no' so far.
But the argument about not working with children or travelling on public transport seems compelling... Maybe I should just avoid the jab and keep my fingers crossed I don't get SF.

Any more of you had it?

I don't work with children or travel on public transport but I still have appts at GP surgery, with midwife and in hospital so I figured I might catch something at any of these places.

Yes to me, probably no to DD.

Think we've just had SF though, waiting for results.

The DoH says all pregnant women can now have Celvapan via their PCT if they want to, don't know if you know that.

I don't know enough about the risks for pregnant people, but on my limited knowledge, I would wait until the 3rd trimester I think. (If I had it at all).

Had it - decided I would only have Celvapan though - and as someone states below you can insist that you have it now through your GP - might need to take in that statement from the DOH though (and you can get it privately too - I posted about this the other day).

However... I am asthmatic and flying a lot so this influenced my decision.

I've had it a week or so ago as I am 35 wks pregnant plus I have an underlying health condition affecting immune system and have been treated with steroids in the past few years. Even colds turn into weeks of antibiotics and hospital visits for me.

Arm was sore for a day or so and I felt a bit hot and tired 24 hours afterwards but apart from that me and baby are fine.

My 2 year nephew had it done as well as he has asthma and he is fine as well.
