Ok,ok i know it should be simple but its not!
this is a really hard choice now that driving and need more of a buggy to tick the boxes!
*Forward facing - can remove car seat to put on seperate system if needed - max 2 hrs!
*carrycot that goes on buggy nice and easy no fuss!

  • folds up small to fit in 7 seater volvo for family trips out!
  • long wearing, no huge wheels that need to be removed!

Ahhhhh am i asking to much! maybe i should design my own dont think it will be ready in time for my baby though!

combi of several buggys to make 1 perfect flawless buggy!

Am i alone, am i over thinking it, should i decide and stick to a choice and dont look back?

if you can be bothered to put in the effort try making a comparison chart of all the buggies you like with categories like width etc. it worked for me

I would post this is products under pushchairs and some of us pushchair shed ladies could help.

What sort of price, are you looking at new or second hand??

There are loads that do everything but the carrycot part will mean it is bigger and even a maclaren will maybe only just fit in your car with all 7 seats up.

A proper pram then I would say (silver cross linear freeway, bugaboo cam/bee, mothercare mychoice, endles really) plus then buy quinny zapp and use a maxi cosi car seat and adaptors to plonk on for short trip in the car.

Do you mean forward facing or rear facing - rear facing = facing the parent pushing the pushchair?

Rear facing limits your choice.

mamas & papas pramette ticks most of those boxes tbh

Icandy peach does all of that I think. I love mine, but haven't got the baby to put it to proper use yet!

thanks all well i have decided i really will need the carrycot - out for more then 2 hrs so need baby to lay flat!and so not needing the carseat will leave it in car and transport baby in and out think its better!
Then when baby is a slightly older just to put in buggy and for it to be easy fold and not big
the cost can go as much as £400.

Thank you all xx cutting it fine 6 weeks to go!

I really would recommend buying something 2nd hand. I hated the quinny buzz as the wheels were very wide at the back and to fold it in one as a pushchair it had to be forward facing.

I think the icandy cherry also does all those things, from what I remember and is less than the peach.

Mama and Papas Skate - does everything you ask for.

Have a looksee at a first wheels pram - you can get a carrycot bit for them.

I'm 31 weeks and spent so long deliberating this issue that I was nearly sent mad by it.

Consequently, we've decided not to buy a pushchair for now. We've bought a Jane carrycot, which also goes in the car and we're going to get a couple of slings.

If this isn't sufficient, we'll address the problem then.

Lot's of friends are so p*ssed off with their heavy and expensive pushchairs, I'm hoping we'll be able to move straight to a cheap and light stroller.

Plus, I'd love to avoid pushing a pushchair round the shops - it looks like hell!

Britax Vigour 3+ or 4+ (depending on whether you like 3 wheels or 4).

It's so so easy to use, good price, the Britax car seat clicks on really easily and both the travel system and cars seats are Which? magazine best buys. I love it.

The pushchair is suitable from birth or you can also get a saparate carrycot that clicks on. Try it!

I'd get a cheap pram then a maclaren for when the baby is bigger.

I know exactly how you feel Mama2b5. I realised things had got out of hand when I dragged my poor husband half way across London to look at a particular buggy, and he pointed out we'd spent longer looking at buggies than cars:-)

I agree with everylittlebeat that the Britax 4+ looks really good, but we couldn't find anywhere that stocks it.

In the end we went with a second hand bugaboo gecko! Only 31 weeks so can't say how good it is, but its a relief just to have brought it - worrying about cots

Hello Mama2b

Ok - some other suggestions. But not sure that any one will meet your criteria completely.

Phil and Teds - they have bought out a carrycot attachment, and car seat adaptors that allow a few makes of car seat to be fitted to chassis.
But I dont think it folds down small and the wheels are big.

Stokke - you can pick up second hand ones on ebay for about £400. Carry cot is available/ car seat can be slotted on to chassis and pushchair can be rear/ forward facing. Downside is that it does not fold down compactly and is heavy.

I think your best compromise is going to be to go for 2 different buggies. Am umbrella/ lightweight buggy and a bulkier one for the carrycot.

I have the maclaren techno for travelling/ ease of collapse. And the Stokke for other times. Both got lots of use.

Thanks all - yes MK - i totally understand that maybe one buggy wont fit in my boxes, but to me its like getting a car you must put alot of thought into it and decide carefully,DH is set against 2nd hand so it has to be new looked on ebay and gumtree - this rate will have no christmas pressies or decs up because i will be on the net looking at reviews!

I posted a very similar question at your stage of pregnancy in a quest for the perfect buggy that would see me through from day 1 to child walking full time. Lots of very wise people like CarrieLou and mistletoekisses assured me there was no such buggy and I would need a pram and a small folding pushchair if I wanted the attributes of both. I think they're right, the more so now my baby is here. In the end I bought a cheap silver cross linear freeway in great condition on ebay to be the pram. It's relatively big and heavy, would be useless if I used a car regularly but is ever so cosy, faces forward, is a nice push, fits lots of shopping underneath and is just about ok on a bus/train/tube. Suits my daughter very well and because she is a titch is likely to do so for some time, I suspect (it would be a tougher push with a heavy toddler in I think). When we start needing something lighter that folds I will buy either a baby jogger city mini or a silver cross pop or a maclaren, again on ebay unless I'm feeling flush.

Incidentally- my baby didn't like the buggy at all for the 1st 6-8 weeks! After all my angsting about buggies I ended up with her in a sling for most journeys and naps...

The Loola and loola up covers your criteria.. if you get it from Kiddiecare.com that keeps the cost down.

I was looking at them but changed my mind at last minute and went for the mamas and papas Skate but this ins considerably bulkier.. I kow i will loose my boot space inthe SMAX as I will also have to have one seat up permanantly

everylittlebeat · 14/12/2009 13:33

We got a Britax 3+ and still use it a lot with DD1 (aged 2.2) as it's so easy to push compared to lighter buggies, and it's no problem to fit in the boot (even used to fit in my Nissan Micra boot quite easily, although took up the whole boot!) However we do also have a smaller buggy to bung in the boot if we're going on holiday.

I had the same dilemma this time despite having owned several pushchairs - even if you don't find the "perfect" one you'll get used to it as long as it fits in the car and fits a car seat. Don't forget to look at weight - the first couple I decided on this time round turned out to be impossible to lift and once you added hard carrycots / car seats they were just too heavy.

I ended up with the M&P pramette which I love (and have had one before used for 2 babies and then handed on) but I don't think it folds down as neatly as my other one did (although in all other respects it would fit the bill for you and I think is a really good pushchair).

Spin looks nice but heavy for lifting in and out of car. More of a walking pram IMO. Also if there's not much boot space when all 7 seats are up in your car I think it would be a pain to fit in.
