i can't have been pregnant for 14 weeks and only just started getting symptoms can i? for some strange reason i feel pregnant. i also had a period last month but it only lasted 2 or 3 days and i'd come off the pill so not sure if it counts iyswim. did a test and couldn't see anything at all then i swear in the last minute the faintest line ever appeared. surely it would have come up much sooner than that and stronger if i was 14 weeks?

I'd have thought so - got faint line like that when I was just over 4 weeks so tbh would expect a flourescent type line at 14 weeks. Could you only have just got pregnant?

Re symptoms -they could come adn go so not sure how much you can read into that.

hopefully someone smarter will be along in a minute to help

found this info for you na:

'the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (better known as hCG) is produced during pregnancy. It is made by cells that form the placenta, which nourishes the egg after it has been fertilized and becomes attached to the uterine wall. Levels can first be detected by a blood test about 11 days after conception and about 12 - 14 days after conception by a urine test. In general the hCG levels will double every 72 hours. The level will reach its peak in the first 8 - 11 weeks of pregnancy and then will decline and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy.'

so if you are 14 weeks pg, the hormone levels will be lower than they would have been earlier...

but catissleepy, the hormone levels at 14 weeks would still be very very high, I'll look them up.

god knows what this tight, painful feeling really low down andlower back pain is then. it's worse when i walk or go to the toilet. i have to walk all hunched up and bent over to make it less painful.

do you think it might be a urine infection NA? Can you get an appointment with your GP?

Why do you think you are 14 weeks?
Why have you been having unprotected sex?

Report
TotalChaos · 16/06/2008 11:07

go to GP. By 14 weeks would have thought a physical examination would rule PG in/out?

Report
nappyaddict · 16/06/2008 11:09

they can't get me in for 2 weeks!!

i went to the toilet about an hour ago and had a bit of diarrhea so perhaps thats it? but if it was that wouldn't it be a bit more often? and i didn't think it would be that low down or accompanied by back pain :S

Then go to a family planing drop in, or call for an appointment, don't mess around.

are their tests more sensitive then?

And get an std test at the same time.

You always seem to have a level head NA and I fail to understand why you don't use it sometimes.

TotalChaos · 16/06/2008 11:13

no they won't have better tests (unless they refer you for a blood test to confirm Pg) but at least you will get seen a lot quicker than 2 weeks!

Report
nappyaddict · 16/06/2008 11:23

sorry i seem to lack in common sense. definitely not level headed!

we did actually use a condom but it was later found in the bed. since ds (on pill but no condom) i've always used them. at the time i thought about an STD test but i know he has regular tests himself and hadn't slept with anyone except me since the last one so didn't think it was necessary.

the family planning clinic won't be able to confirm pregnancy then if i can't? although i suppose they can refer me for a blood test quicker if needed. i'll keep the doc appointment aswell cos it's probably something else.

now to work out where the fp clinic is!

Don't want to worry you but could be ectopic, symptoms include pain on one side, diarrhea, dropping levels of Hcg. Any shoulder pain? Anyway, make an appt with gp for asap.

WenchConnection · 16/06/2008 11:35

You also trust he hasn't had sex with anyone else and has had these tests, why?. Please for the sake of yourself and your child be a bit more sensible!

I am not speaking from a holier than thou position, I have just seen many friends in awful situations from taking a lackadaisical approach to life.

nappyaddict - the FPC may be able to confirm PG by physical examination if you are 14 weeks gone.

Report
nappyaddict · 16/06/2008 12:34

no shoulder pain - but headaches and dizzyness.

i know he wouldn't lie to me and i trust him. if you were in the situation would you think your dp was lying?

Nappyaddict
what exactly are your preg symptoms? Sure it's not something completely unrelated like a UTI, stomach bug or something? I may have missed something but have you taken a test recently?
If you feel ill, go to the GP or FP clinic, depending on whether you REALLY think you are preg or just feel ill. No reason why it should be a STI, I trust my partner too, don't worry about that!
There's really no reason why you should be preg, esp since you haven't had sex in 3 months and were on the pill. Go get a test, if it's neg, go to the doc and describe your symptoms, chances are it's something completely unrelated.

nappyaddict · 16/06/2008 12:43

i have been thinking uti or stomach bug tbh. it just doesn't seem very possible. a) i would expect a strong line to come up quite quickly at this stage b) i'm sure i would have had a suspicion before now c) i was on the pill and surely getting caught out twice is unlikely d) i've had a period

symptoms are:

pain really low down right at the bottom of tummy sort of where it meets pubic hair

lower back pain

headaches

dizzyness

diarrhea (sp?)

jelly belly seems to still be the same size but less jelly like and harder

faintish line on preg test

With my first I did not know until 13 weeks as I was very ill with a stomach bug that never cleared up (According to Doctor who was treating me for many weeks).

I went with my mother a couple of times and they could do nothing more for me. On my last visit I went with my bf (now dh) and the Doctor tried to listed to my stomach. His words were "I don't know about stomach bug, more like 13 weeks pregnant".

I was shocked. I had had no symptoms apart from being sick and I had done loads of things considered wrong, like visiting a local theme park, eating bad food and drinking. I was getting married in a few months and just bought my first house just before getting made redundant.

If in doubt could you contact any of the advisory services online. They should be able to put you in touch with those that can help. If you are very worried or in any pain then then I would not hesitate in telling your Doctor you need to see someone as soon as possible.

Faint line is still a line though... I had a really faint line with DD so much so I didn't really believe I was preg until I booked an early scan.
