I love both and it would have been my top choice if DS had been DD.

I'm the opposite, dislike Edith but like Edie.

On the other hand, I think it's a name of distinction. You can imagine the feminist heroine of the 21st Century being called Edith.

Bit old ladyish, but I like it

Report
Chattea · 27/03/2007 20:49

Edith sounds very old-fashioned, Edie's OKish

Can't decide if I love it or don't like it at all

DeviousDaffodil · 27/03/2007 20:50

Like both.
Really nice
Heard of an Esme born the other day, thought it was a fantastic name.

edam · 27/03/2007 20:50

I like both - and agree with you that it's good to put the full, formal version of a name on the certificate.

edam · 27/03/2007 20:50

My cat is Esme...

Find Edith very old lady-ish, but Edith Bowman gets away with it. Edie nice but it's quite "popular" IYSWIM.
You can't go far wrong with old, classical names really.

OOh, Esme, reminds me of Salinger's "To Esme, with love and squalor".. very cool.

Couldn't ever have an "E" named child, so perversely I like them...

Now Esme .... now you are talking - very stylish and cool
