Helloooo!
I have just put a yummy stew in the oven for tea, mmm can't wait!
hello!
just back from playgroup & lunch in town. reading the gruffalo for the millionth time - suspect ds is a moment away from asking to watch toy story again...
hope you are all ok!
great minds Dal - we have one in the slow cooker! making my mouth water!
Off to soft play now....
alice - Mmm I can't wait to eat mine, gonna take some down for the pils too
Gonna do dumplings this time, not made them before, wish me luck!
Strawberry - Ds loves the Gruffalo (or gruffo as he calls it). At the moment though he has to have The Gruffalo's child and Monkey puzzle every night. I swear I could tell the story without reading the book
i wish i was having stew too! Oh to be a domestic goddess!
Dal - i think i prefer the gruffalo's child to the gruffalo. i know it off-by-heart too! What's Monkey Puzzle like? i've read some of her others and i don't think they're as good as the two gruffalos
Hi all
really wanting some of your stew Dal!
Just hearing reading and then are off to pick up the babies. Be back later
xx
Ah lovely
back to a bit normality
Just back from a day with SIL, she childminds so Jane had a ball playing with the 2 girls same age and I vegged on the sofa with a bottle of lucozade - bliss
Just eat a large bowl of home made minestrone which is sitting nicely, beats living on cheese rolls!!!
xx
Hello All! Fab to have a shiney new thread and congenial company
Inzi; glad you are keeping something nice and hearty down.
Stews all round then...just taken some of our goulash out for Alex....yumyumyum!!!!
Atm he is playing with Dh putting stacking cups to his ears and pretending they are phones saying "Hello Grandma, Alex here. How are you?"...sooo cute,
Hey all,
Inzi - Sounds like you've had a nice day. Great you found something you can eat too, love minestrone
Strawberry - I wasn't too sure about monkey puzzle when i flicked through it at first but it's quite fun to read once you get your tongue round it, takes a bit of practice, especially when you're tired at the end of the day
Dylan loves it though and tries to read along
Floria - Hope you enjoy your goulash, wish we were closer so could swap some!
Aww at Alex talking on his phone
Muppet - Was it Toby's first day at nursery today? If so, hope it went ok
Oh dear, total pregnancy brain today... I just realised i've been to town with my jogging bottoms on back to front!!!
just popping in to say hi ... it's been a manic week for me - I'm now a student with Miriam Bowen - FT do you know her?
Have had the sh!ttiest day at work in a long time today, and and v.v. tearful at the mo.
On a more positive note, I'm off the the Amnesty International Wales conference tomorrow, and some of the kids from school are coming with me, so not all bad!
speak soon mwah, mwah!
Crochet - Hope you have a good day tomorrow and feel more positive soon x
Dal - sorry but I LOL when I read that :-)
thanks LLL - means a lot!
and I have to say
to Dal as well! and hope FiL is ok soon.
and WWAJC I really hope things pick up for you soon, and the house looks lovely (just think of how much less stuff you'll have to do!
going to put kids to bed - M has chosen daddy tonight, so I'm on boy-story duty!
Inzi glad your sil has helped you chill out a bit today!
crochet really sorry you had a sh*tty day (trying to stop your it police rejecting this
) fingers crossed tomorrow is another day and a better one at that!
just about to tuck into the lamb shanks that have been in the slow cooker - then Adam started shouting! Oh well - just salivate for a few more mins! Dh doing the enedful - for some reason the boys have been really doing my head in the last couple of days. Constant moaning, nothing ever right, blah blah aaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!! know they're lovely really but sometimes it just gets on top of me!
Hello to everyone else but dh is back downstairs and dinner trumps talking here

.....and breathe.......
Dal - how were the dumplings?
Inzi - what a lovely day with your sil.
Crochet - what's up hun? Anything we can help with? Enjoy yourself tomorrow.
Alice - mmmmmmm lamb shanks <droool>. Hope you can get your head together over the weekend - will you be working?
Off to pour myself a glass of wine now.
Hi crochet -are you okay? x
Fab news on the singing teacher. Great to have something out of the home, not work/children/hubbie orientated. Did think about finding my old cello teacher and seeing if I can start again. I even bought a new copt my of Bach cello suites at Christm're as (haven't a clue where any of my music is) but still haven't got my cello back from my dad's. Ollie wants piano lessons so that's good. I'll teach him till he can have lesson at school in year 2.
Dal -how's the stew? LOL at your wearing your jogging bottoms backwards! Also like the idea that they're comfy either way!!
Was Toby's second day at nursery and he was fab. He's so chilled he's fine with anyone.
It was strange for me but the house is clean and I loved having a bit of me time.
Inzi - glad you had a relaxing day with your SIL.
Strawberry - we loved 'a squash and a squeeze', and 'room on a broom' when Ollie was little. He memorised them and even now I find mys elf saying 'Wise old man won't you help me please? My house is a...' and a voice in the house says '..a squash and a sqeeze!'
Henry loves calm down Boris and Scarey sid at the mo.
Floria - Alex sounds fab
Wanted to ask what's everyone's opinion of that horrible case with those 2 boys in Doncaster. They were drinking, taking canabis, watching pornograpgy and any horror film they wanted, witnessed their mother being attacked by their alcoholic father -is it any wonder they turned out as they did? Isn't this a case of child abuse? What more would the parents have to do to be culpable?
It seems to me that some parents are absolving any responsiblity and purposely damaging their children emotionally, physically and mentally (the mother put canabis in their tea so she could have a quiet night
) so why aren't they being prosecuted?
These boys have had their lives ruined. They are not your average 11/12 year olds that do know right from wrong, they have never been shown what is right or wrong and if you grow up in anarchy why would you not create anarchy?
Also, what the heck do we do with them for the rest of their lives?
x-posted -Hi Alce/WWAJC
x
crochet - sorry that you've had a bad day today. hope tomorrow is better
dal - lol at the jogging bottoms!
alice - your dinner sounds yummy. you all put me to shame with your cooking...
inzi - pleased you managed to eat something tonight
hello lll, muppet, floria, wwajc....
DH is out in town tonight for his best mate's birthday. i dropped him in town, ds fell asleep in the car, so he's gone straight to bed. which means i have a whole evening to myself and now i'm not quite sure what to do with myself!!!
Crochet - Sorry you've had a sh*t day.. Hope you have a relaxing evening and a nice day tomorrow. Sometimes it helps to cry if you feel tearful anwyay, I find it releases the tension and I can move on feeling happier
LLL - Thats ok, Dh had a good ol laugh at me too
Alice - Enjoy your lamb
WWAJC - The dumplings were lovely if I do say so myself! Actually the whole stew was delicious <preen>
. Sent soem down to pils and they enjoyed it...
Ah a nice glass of wine, can't wait for a nice big glass of red once lo is here!
Just chilling here whilst dh baths Dylan before bed.
x-posted muppet - agree with what you say re: doncaster case. clearly what they did was horrifically wrong, but what guidance have they had? so sad that kids can end up like this and do what they did...
x-posted!
Muppet - Glad Toby has been fine at nursery, nice for you to have some time to yourself.
I haven't read much about those boys, just heard on the radio what you have said... I do agree that they are a product of their environment and that something should be done about their parents. It's a sad situation, I imagine it would take a long time to undo the twisted lessons they've learnt about life
Strawberry - If it makes you feel better we couldn't be bothered to make tea yesterday so had a can of baked beans and sausages on toast
. I'm rarely the domestic goddess!
A whole evening to yourself, lovely!
Hey you'all stop talking about food!! We had Tesco pasta bake that Rich lovingly took out the freezer last night at his flat, so had to make a detour to pick it up on the way home from college, it was delicious

<Craves Lamb shank....had stew last night or would want that, saying that FT's food is divine Rich still talks about it now
and I've never had minestrone that isn't out of a tin>
Crochet-So sorry you've had a crappy day, hope you have a lovely weekend to make up for it
Dal-pmsl, I went to college with my top on inside out the other week, I just kept it on like that cos everyone had seen it by then anyway.
Muppet-Glad Henry is having fun at nursery, means more time for keeping up with mumsnet housework. I'm not up to date with the news at the moment so can't really comment, it is so hard to know when responsibility should be attached at what age, it must be different ages for different children.
FT-awww @ Alex, they're the best age atm aren't they, Shannon spoke to Rich on the phone last night and told him to come 'home' right now, she must be confused with him having a different house, but saying that, she see's dD1 going to her Dads and is young enough to accept things just the way they are at face value I suppose. Sorry bit of diversion there! Hope you get a lovely refreshing nights sleep.
Inzi-sounds like a nice way to spend the day
Strawberry, sounds like the perfect evening to do what you want, so many choices though! Watch a film, catch up on soaps or whatever you fancy, read a book, nice long bath...sleep..
Sorry if I missed anyone, going to get a DVD on, Rich will be out tomorrow night, and both back at college next week so the start of another few months of not seeing each other, so should really make the time to eat banoffee pie have some couply time
Curry's here!!!
Dal LOVE the photo of Alex looking in the washing machine!!
