Things I learnt over the weekend. Oat milk is ok in tea and they put milk in pate! Why??!!!
Day 2 of my non dairy diet going ok!

Hi! sazzle I couldn't believe what had milk in it when i had pregnant lactose intolerance!

Just a quick hello and thanks for everyone's comments about when your birth doesn't go to plan. Hearing what happened to others makes me realise that it wasn't just me if nobody minds I may inflict my birth story on you later when I have a mo. :)
Day one of half term here and dp is working late which means my first bath and bedtime while looking after a newborn. He is fast asleep now but what's the bet as soon as I switch the bath taps on he will wake up!!

Totally feeling the pain of those with visiting family I was stood in my kitchen cooking casserole for 9 the day after I gave birth, remember thinking hmm something not quite right here as everyone sat in the sitting room cooing over the baby

For some reason I can't post from my phone, which is annoying as it's the place I'm reading from most at the moment, for obvious reasons.

I appear to have survived my first day with the 3 on my own - and it was mostly fine, other than DD2 starting to scream just as I had put the others dinner on. We even managed to meet a friend at the playground and get DD1 to her swimming lesson this afternoon.

It was hard work though, I'm going to be knackered by Friday!

Salt and vinegar crisps have milk in. Why?

First day on my own today. Surprisingly all ok, dinner is even ready to go. Best thing is that the health visitor came and Pip is over her birth weight. Means the midwife can sign us off quickly on Wednesday.

pregnant- I'd like to hear your birth story :) impressed/ shocked you were up and about cooking for 9 the next day and can't believe no-one helped/ cooked for you!

Think I'm in for a bad night- my poor baby is slightly constipated and is very uncomfortable I've called HV who advised cooled boiled water and massaging his tummy but if no joy to make docs appt. can't get an appointment until tomorrow though. He spent the afternoon screaming so I called 111 (he's PFB and I know I'm probably being neurotic but it was horrible hearing him like that) who said they wouldn't be concerned just yet but to call back if any change in symptoms. My poor poor baby- I'd happily go through labour again to take away his pain

Oh and I'd have to ask the in laws to leave if they stayed more than 2 nights. Small houses are not made for long term guests. By small I mean smaller than Downton Abbey.

Sore sorry to hear your babe isn't feeling well, hope he gets better soon.
E has spent most of the day awake feeding, crying, pooping and missing Daddy as he went back to work today. Hope we all get a good night's sleep tonight

Here it goes again my newborn is starting his usual cluster feeding for the evening. Hubby has gone out to work and I'm starving ...
Is it usual for my little one to come off the boob after a good half an hour feed sleep for about two seconds and just go back on again!
Don't think I'll be eating until 11 again sob!!

Sazzle Tesco and coop do dairy free pates. Milk is in so much stuff as a cheap filler. I did dairy free for 18 months - haribo, Mr Kipling's blackcurrant and apple tarts, Doreen banana cake, soft chewing licorice, Betty Crocker devils food cake and chocolate fudge topping are all dairy free goodies!

Pregnant you had much more stamina than me think people forget what life with a newborn's like. MIL asked if E was sleeping through yet- at 5 days old!!!

Phew survived bath and bedtime!

Ok I will try and keep it brief

I'd been having contractions on and off for a week but on the day before my due date they became a bit more painful and regular. I spoke to hospital when they were 4-5 mins apart she suggested coming down to get checked but I said I wasn't in that much pain I'd give it an hour.

After an hour I went in to be told I was a finger tip dilated I was put on a monitor and he had a heart deceleration. The doctor was happy for me to go home but I had a really strong feeling to stay. Midwife agreed and said get a coffee and come back in an hour. Half an hour later I was back I was 4 cms and taken to delivery suite.

Midwife let the anaesthetist know I wanted and epidural I was in a lot of pain now my waters went but not a lot of water.

Ok so from now on is what I struggle with, midwife tried to get a cannula in and couldn't a lot of pain and blood and gave up in the end. Anaesthetist came after a couple of hours and didn't put enough local in my back so i was screaming with pain while they tried to get it in she insisted I was feeling pressure not pain. It wasn't it was agonising pain.

I was put on a monitor every so often and the baby had some more decelerations I was examined and midwife said I was 8cms with a bulging bag of waters not all of them had gone before she said no need to break them.
She went out came back and said the doctor wanted them to be broken so she tried and said babies head was too high the doctor needed to do it as she said this they went anyway. When checked me again she said the waters had been opening my cervix and I was actually only 5 cms.

They put me on a monitor and lost the baby's heartbeat so put a clip on the baby's head to pick it up more effectively. I started to shake almost like a convulsion and felt really ill my blood pressure had really dropped at the same time the baby's heart rate dropped and they couldn't get it back up.
Cue lots of people running in they got my blood pressure back up and his heartbeat came back up. The checked me again and I was fully dilated 5-fully in 20 mins, the doctor told me I need a ventouse to try and get the baby out as quickly as possible as he wasn't coping. If it didn't work forceps.

I was put in stirrups with my bum hanging off the end of the bed a horrible position to be in. In the room were 3 midwives,2 doctors, anaesthetist, her assistant, and paediatrician.

Fortunately the actually delivery was straight forward and we were both fine but just not what I expected at all after 3 very straight forward births.

Bollocks Lilla's voice is squeaky and hoarse and rapidly disappearing - fecking reflux is burning her vocal chords . Bah to the docs we go - I really hoped we could do without meds this time but she's so upset poor love I can't just hope she'll outgrow it.

Hope the constipation eases sore, it's so distressing when you can't make it better.

Just cried on DP shoulder mainly due to the tedious slog of it all. The prospect of another night on the sofa feeding makes me want to scream. Will have to go for a walk to try and clear my head, once baby detached from noon of course...

Haha yellow Doreen! Yes discovering a good range of non dairy stuff though. I think Oreos are vegan? And I bought an amazing Carob choc hazelnut spread today! Mmmmmmmm
N had tiny flecks of blood in his poo in the nappy change I've just done. Should I make an appointment at the docs? Is this related to the dairy thing? It's the first time ive seen blood. Really not much but noticeable...

Sazzle yes blood or mucus in stools is a classic CMPI symptom, I'd book a GP appointment - the sooner treatment starts (if needed) the better. I got J on meds by 10 weeks and his recovery was much quicker than those babies on my last thread where treatment was delayed - some of whom are still having speech, behavioural and food refusal issues at nearly 2. Jonas can't tolerate more than trace dairy yet but other than that he's developing like a normal tot.

pregnant - people rushing in is definitely scary. That was the bit that caused boyfriend to have a meltdown. I just had to ask him about having a cannula put in, because I don't remember it at all - apparently I was 'unhappy' - weird, I've blanked it out completely.

Sore, we had the same with Baby Badger for the last two days - no poo despite her straining, red in the face, screaming and very fussy at the breast. We did baby massage on her on and off for the last couple of hours and finally, finally she went. Oh. My. Word. I have never, in all my life, seen such scenes. Three nappies in two minutes. She's feeding lovely now though so fingers crossed that's all done!

Re the lactose thing - I have had dairy issues on and off for years now and go milk-free when I need to get it under control. Pregnancy meant I could eat more food with dairy than I have in a while and so far I'm still doing ok so maybe it's fixed me?! However, feeling your pain re. sneaky milk in nearly everything, even ketchup. Top tips for treat food: Swedish Glace ice cream, vanilla in most supermarkets and choc / raspberry/ neopolitan from kosher delis; Mrs Crimble coconut macaroons; BBQ Pringles; Eat Natural bars; high quality dark chocolate...

Pregnant my first birth did not go as I hoped (very similar to Fedup's) and I really felt traumatised for a good while after. I think sharing your story in RL (where appropriate!) and on here goes a long way to helping recover but also just accepting it may take time.

Well newborn sleepy days seem well and truly over here. He managed a total of three hours sleep today and that was only in sling - he woke up each time because I dared to stop jiggling around for a 10 second interval. Mornings are also starting at 3am since clock change. If awake he is crying most of the time. Agh why do I produce babies that do not sleep and constantly cry? At least I know this time I produce content children.

Seriously considering stopping bfeeding somewhere between 6 weeks and 3 months this time. Fed for 14 months last time but finding it so much tougher/more exhausting partly because of his insatiable appetite and also with having two DCs. I know it doesn't solve everything but at least DH could share more of the load. GP told me they have 85% of immunity protection by 6 weeks and 95% by 3 months and after that the benefits are more about bonding. Need to think of family's mental health...
