at the tissue in the wash - I'm forever forgetting to check pockets and fishing the debris from DS's pockets out of the rubber seal - plus the tedium of shredded tissues.And LOL at LetUs having posted the pictire I was looking for without actually me realising (idiot me)
Tonight I AM having an early night.....
Do you think threre's some genetic trait that the men in your life get progressively handier with age? (DIY-speaking) DH is pretty good at stuff, DF is very handy, and DGF was shit-hot at fixing stuff up. DH and our (male) neighbour once had a mutual sympathy session about the ability of their FILs to make them feel utterly inadequate on the DIY front.

Tbh helen I think it's more that as a species we are progressively deskilling as time goes on and technology makes us more and more useless and dependent on it.

I think I'm quite handy, I have my own toolbox, it's red and black, very pretty. Today I found the mailbox on the ground but I used my hammer and a nail and fixed it

I fixed the toilet at work today
My mum, who was also an engineer, bought me a flowery screwdriver once. Cos ladies need their tools to be pink and pretty obvs.

I love DIY. DH was 
when we combined house contents and he found that my drill was bigger than his the angle grinder is mine too
DM had a hairy fit when DF and I combined on the phone to work out how I could wire in a new extractor fan that could be turned off to let me have a nice peaceful bath. It was a wonderful conversation along the lines of "Well if I take the red wire out and put it here... and if I move the yellow... etc etc" With my DM effectively going "la-la-la not listening - just tell me when you've done it." in the background.

When I bought my first house, my DDad bought me a toolbox and a set of tools. Believe me, this was very unusual thinking for my dad back then
I'm a dab hand with flat pack furniture. DH is very handy with DIY.

I agree with madame on the deskilling of each generation, many of us are more affluent & just 'get a man in' 
I'm pretty good at flat pack assembly, to the extent of building a shed & also operate a drill. Good job really, with no DH to share the chores!
