Product tests

NOW CLOSED Want to try a dishwasher for the first time? Or have one already that you'd like to replace? We're looking for 6 MNers to trial a new AEG dishwasher (with Finish tablets) and give video feedback

We have been asked by AEG and Finish to find six Mumsnetters who would be able and willing to have an AEG dishwasher (average selling price £600) installed in their home - and give feedback - both on Talk and on video - on what difference it's made having a dishwasher (or having a new one if they already had one).

Feedback will focus on overall impressions of the AEG dishwasher, what difference it makes to testers' day-to-day life, cleaning results, and how it compares (where appropriate) with an old dishwasher.

Naturally this product test isn't for everyone but AEG have this to say about it: "perhaps you've considered a dishwasher before but thought it's just a luxury, or that there's no space for one in your kitchen. AEG and Finish are confident your view might change if you try out an AEG dishwasher - the slimline 45cm dishwasher is the same size as a standard cupboard."

For anyone that already has a dishwasher, AEG are also looking for MNers that would consider replacing an old dishwasher. AEG say that their new dishwasher range "has enhanced features such as an extra-large load size, and [that] they are amongst the quietest, most efficient and unobtrusive on the market."

For those of you who may have environmental concerns about having a dishwasher, AEG have given us this statistic from a Waterwise survey - the average dishwasher uses between 12 and 16 litres (3-4.25 gallons) of water per load, while washing dishes by hand uses as much as 63 litres (16.5 gallons) per session. The new AEG Pro Clean uses just 9 litres of water.

There are a number of criteria for taking part in this project - to take part you must:

  • Live in the UK and be a home owner-occupier
  • Be willing to provide video feedback which may appear on MN and elsewhere (we will provide you with a video camera)
  • Be available at home for one weekday in the next 2-3 weeks (date to be arranged with AEG) for installation
  • Have space and plumbing for a dishwasher in your kitchen - click here for more information on what sort of site/space you need.

If you are selected to take part, the dishwasher will be delivered and installed free of charge (and your old dishwasher will be taken away if you want it to be). You will get to keep the new dishwasher once the product test is finished (average selling price for an AEG dishwasher is £600). You will also receive a two-month supply of Finish dishwasher tablets. All testers who give feedback - both on Mumsnet and by video - will receive a £40 voucher for Space NK. Please click here for more info about AEG dishwashers.

AEG are looking for specific types of families to test different types of dishwashers (e.g. larger families may need a larger load size, small kitchens may only have space for the slimline size) so in order to best match the dishwashers to testers, we need to ask quite a lot of questions, but most importantly we need to know that you have space for a dishwasher (if you don't have one already) so please make sure you answer the question about space when giving your details.

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks

Meh. Would love to do this, but I rent. Why do we need to own our house? We own our own washing machine, surely this is the same? (I'm pretty sure there is plumbing for a dishwasher in our house too)

Or is it just that they don't want the feedback of poor people? :(

I would love to do this, my Dishwasher is crap! But i'm not a homeowner but in housing association property. So no restrictions on installing a dishwasher. Can MN confirm if this is ok or not?

Can I beg?

Please please please please pick me......

Our dishwasher is on its last legs; the wheels on the racks have all fallen off, the cutlery tray is so perforated that knives fall straight through and jam the spinner, the top rack is at a permanent angle, you have to use a knife to open the rinse-aid container.......

Please please please......

Our current one is on three times a day, and stuff still doesn't come out clean. When we're a family of five I don't know what I'm going to do!

Our dishwasher has been broken for the past 6 months and I have forgotten just how annoying washing dishes by hand is.

How exciting! We'd love a dishwasher but keep thinking we can't afford one, there's always something more vital that we need to spend our money on.

I'd love to be able to load a dishwasher and go and sit with dh and dd in the evenings!

Just to answer the queries that have come up about being a home owner...

If you're a renter you need to have permission from the home owner to install a dishwasher. We've added a question into the survey which asks renters to confirm whether or not they have this permission.

If you are a renter and haven't completed the survey yet, please go ahead but make sure you answer the question about permission.

If you are a renter and have already completed the survey, don't worry - if you are selected to take part, we'll contact you directly to check whether you have permission.

Sorry to have caused confusion!

I have entered ! Our D/W was declared unsaveable last week by an engineer, we have been without one for two or more years - it currently holds packed lunch crisps and chocolate bars!

It would be totally ace to be chosen.

Me please, I'd love to have DH spend more time with us of an evening, our kitchen sink has no drainer (yet, new kicthen once the money tree in the garden grows) so a dishwasher would mean a quick load and then back to helping me care for DS Smile
