I went to a funeral and they played the song from Armagedon??? which everyone was so shocked and just looked at eachother.........
Off the subject slightly. My dad wants to be buried back to front and upside down... he wants people to kiss his arse when he is dead????

At a friends funeral they played 'you do something to me' (at least i think thats the title) by Paul Weller. It was his favourite song. I cant listen to it and enjoy it anymore now.

At my nans funeral we played "yours" by englebert humperdink. It got a few raised eyebrows because it starts of slow but suddenly crashes into a jolly guitar riff. (i had to stifle a few sniggers at that too). It was her favourite song though.

My DP wants monty pythons "Always look on the bright side of life". Then be cremated, and then stuffed in a firework and shot up in the air over some hill he likes in Scotland somewhere.

I have sworn to all my family that if they EVER play: Celine, Wind beneath My Wings or Tears in Heaven I will haunt their ass from now until the world ends. Or Amazing Grace AT ALL except when sung by a full Gospel choir or played on the bagpipes.

They know better.

I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered over the Firth of Forth - but facing North Queensferry and not that dive South Queensferry (apologies to all who live there and find it lovely. I don't). And everyone has to 1) smoke a cigarette 2) drink alcohol.

Or I will haunt them and make their house smell like a pub - booze and fags

Oh, that's the other thing - I HATE the organ - and have warned anyone that if there's organ music played at my funeral, instead of developing tinnitus they'll develop a disorder where they hear nothing but Jimi Hendrix guitar solos until they're driven insane.

'It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday' from Boyz II Men. Now THAT'S a hard one to get through at a funeral. So is 'Night Shift' if sung by the Commodores.

I was listening to a funeral on the radio of a semi famous comedian (can't remember who) and at the end he had "Return to sender" - the whole church burst out laughing

DP wants This is the Sea by the Waterboys

I'd like Universal Hall by the same. We're not really big Waterboy's fans either, they just do good profundity

I think it's nice to play the persons fave song or something they have requested. My friend had the "Missing you" by P Diddy (or whatever his name was at that point - I too can't hear it now without welling up...

DP wants - "hey you, get off my cloud" by the Stones. I want "Good Girls go to Heaven, Bad Girls go Everywhere" by Meatloaf!!!

I went to dps auntie's funeral a few weeks ago and it was incredibly weepy occasion.

The priest was very moving as he knew her well, she had several eulogies which were very touching and managed that fine line between sentiment and respect, she had eight siblings all were there in fact over 150 people who knew her well came to the funeral and the cremation whcih followed.

There was a solo Irish baritone singer who led the hymns and sang solo at both the crematorium and the church (services lasted two hours altogether)

He sang Danny Boy, and a few other tear jerkers one was something to do with fields and Mary?..i went without any tissues and I had tears streaming as it was very emotional and brought back memories .. we then went on to the irish club and by the evening they had a big irish dancing competition..evening ended with us having an Indian meal at about 12.00am

I planned some songs for my funeral about ten years ago

This is one

Artist: Eddie Vedder with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Lyrics
Song: Long Road Lyrics

And I wished for so long, cannot stay...
All the precious moments, cannot stay...
It's not like wings have fallen, cannot stay...
But I feel something's missing, cannot say...

Holding hands are daughters and sons
And their faiths just falling down, down, down, down...
I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today

We all walk the long road. Cannot stay...
There's no need to say goodbye...
All the friends and family
All the memories going round, round, round, round
I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today

And the wind keeps roaring
And the sky keeps turning gray
And the sun is set
The sun will rise another day...

We all walk the long road. Cannot stay...
There's no need to say goodbye...
All the friends and family
All the memories going round, round, round, round
I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today
How I've wished for so long
How I wish for you today

We all walk the long road (3x)
