How long did you stay on each level, how quickly did you see results? Did you diet at the same time?
Need motivation and inspiration to keep going, as I really, really ache right now...Grin

VL hopefully this will be the first day of the rest of your life!!Grin

I started shred in January. I am 43 and just over 5 ft. I was a long term exercise resister. I was around 1.5-2 stone overweight. After many little 'pushes' and 'pointers' from life I decided I was going to get a grip and get & keep my body young before it got too old.

Since that first day I have exercised most days - maybe missed around 10 days in total. I like exercise some days. I always feel glad when I have finished. I feel fairly twitchy on the days I don't exercise. I have completed 30DS, 6W6P and am now on week 4 of the Couch to 5K that Bupa have.

This was all because I did that first 30DS day.

The differences I have seen in myself
a) body wise lost 1 stone, 3-4 inches from bust, waist and hips. I am now a healthy BMI. I look great!

b) life wise I am warmer. I have much more energy. I have more body confidence (DH enjoys this alot!Wink). I have much more gusto and joi de vivre. I am happier. I am sharing more things with DH (have been hill walking, he runs with me) and it has increased our 'togetherness'. I feel like an achiever. I have more general confidence in myself. Now I have met this challenge I know I can tackle whatever else inlife I would like to have a go of. Grin

So, back to the Shred. I did 10 days at each level with no days off (except for day 30 which I did on day 31). My diet was fairly 'clean' anyway so I didn't make big changes. I did reduce carbs though.

I saw results within 10 days using the tape measure.

The aching will disappear in a few days. It's your muscles growing and repairing. The pain is your friend.

Sorry for the long winded reply but I was a hopeless case and if I can do it, you certainly can.

Rhino I think many of us felt like throwing up that first day Grin.

But each journey starts with that first step. If I can take it - you can. You are worth spending time and effort on.

So find yourself the time (a measley 20 minutes!!) and give it another go. Keep a bucket nearby in case you DO throw up, pause the DVD and continue when you are ready. You will survive it. You'll probably ache a lot for 3-4 days. Then you'll start to feel better and you'll be able to see the improvement YOU have made to your performance. Shred is FAB!

Don't eat before you shred though - or else you really will be sick. Leave a few (2-3) hours after you've eaten before you do it.

Just to clarify I have lost nearly 4 inches from each of my bust, waist and hips, not a total of 4 inces. You could do that too. Go on you know you want to...

Right! That's it! I am starting Shred tomorrow!

I keep doing it one day, or two, then giving up [crap emoticon]

Jelli I am going to channel you! Maybe if I do it first thing I will stick to it. My problem is that I've been doing (or thinking about trying to) at night when I'm knackered after chasing dcs around all day

Threelittleducks if you do it first thing (like I try to do) you probably don't have much time to procrastinate, so you have to just get on with it.

I think it is much harder at the end of the day. Try it in the morning. Come over to the thread for more support from fellow Shredders. If I run at the end of the day I set up a negative outlook before I even start. I am working on not doing this Wink.

Just remember - you'd find 20 mins to help the DCs so you can find 20 mins for you.

If it helps, focus on how much better their lives will be as they get older, with you being a fitter, more active, happier role model.

Thanks JelliBelli, just what I needed to hear Grin; (and thanks to SEA for what is probably going to be the grim reality - knees are already pretty buggered on day 3)

Will check out other thread, but it looked like everyone on it was a bit more advanced than me...

Well done Trinity, but here follows a dire warning: I am on day 4, and whilst day 2 was bad due to the aches and pains, day 3 was beyond imagining....but, take heart, day 4 was a bit better....

Loving the power failue issue, Trinity; how did you manage to arrange that? Wink

Day 7 for me and no more aches and pains - 'tis a miracle...

Was hoping that it might start to get easier to do the bloomin' thing as well, but no sign of that yet...

Hi All, I thought i'd just drop in to see how you are doing.

Great stuff I see (apart from the groin/arm/electricity issues). Stick with it though Trinity. You really are doing the hardest bit right now - converting into exercisers! It WILL all be worth it - honest! Did you do it yesterday and today? The aching will go.

GeekLove have you actually started though?!!

VenetiaL great stuff although you say you were hoping it would get easier - have you 'noticed the improvement in your endurance' yet ? I bet you have!

As I mentioned upthread I am doing the Couch to 5K programme (I'm not very good yet) and I actually ran a mile on Sunday - a whole mile, not very fast but without stopping! Little ol' unfit Jellibelli (and it all started with the shred). As far as I can remember it is my very first continuous mile that I have run in my life.

Keep at it everyone, it all starts with those hard first days of the shredWink.
