Thought it was about time I started a new thread grin

Girliefriendlikesflowers Wed 25-May-16 14:44:13

Today looks like it could be very spendy as I am going to transfer my house deposit over to the solicitors, I am waiting for dd to come home so she can check the numbers with me!! I may cry when the money vanishes.

Otherwise have spent £5 on lunch and £20 in Sainsburys, got a fair bit for that - 2 bras, a t.shirt for dd, a pair of sunglasses and a dvd!!

Dd has a school disco later so thats another £3 I think.

Cagliostro Wed 25-May-16 14:48:53

Thanks Girlie! grin

Aah my dear the money is not vanishing, it is transforming into bricks and mortar smile

Being nosy - what DVD did you get?

Girliefriendlikesflowers Wed 25-May-16 14:53:54

Yay Cag you are here <hug> I always get worried that if I start a thread people might not find it grin

I pushed the boat out and spent £3 on Rio 2, am pretty sure dd hasn't seen it and she loves the first one, will try and keep it until Friday as thats movie night round here!

CremeEggThief Wed 25-May-16 15:07:01

Thanks Girliestar.

Have you started packing up yet? When do you go on holiday?

EvaDelectorskaya Wed 25-May-16 15:26:47

How exciting Girlie!

WreckTangled Wed 25-May-16 15:29:10

Thanks girlie.

£168. We got to blackgang about an hour ago and I'm not waiting for dd's friend to turn up. I'm so excited! Luckily we get free re-entry for seven days so we will come back again tomorrow or Friday so we can make the most of it as we won't have time now.

I have been reading but sorry for not responding to all of your updates!

Girliefriendlikesflowers Wed 25-May-16 15:34:01

Glad you got there in the end wreck hope you have a brilliant time.

Off on holiday next Tuesday, can not wait!

There is so much to do so I am going to sit on mn and drink tea for a bit wink no idea what to do for tea tonight either! Am trying not to buy any more food due to going away so will have to get creative with whats in the fridge/ freezer!

lilacclery Wed 25-May-16 15:55:40

Hi girlie of course we'd hunt for the new thread.
Dead excited for you and your dd getting your new house, it's all becoming very realgrin
Sat night is big big movie night in our house, as it's on the irish tv station that night. Posted my meal on a facebook group I'm on and mentioned it was an easy dinner just in time for big big movie when someone commented it's not on tonight because of the GAA, I was horrified! I held back from searching sky store for a movie as they're at least €5 plus and found one on our sky + box. Dd watched it, ds pottered, I dipped in and out of film, fb, mumsnet and housework

CremeEggThief Wed 25-May-16 16:21:43

That's good, Girlie, you have a few days to pack up before your holiday. I would advise all your in essentials, such as books, dvds and most kitchen stuff. I made a big mistake in leaving my kitchen till last when I moved last year and ended up having to come back to do a good bit of it, the day after we moved. Try to get hold of plenty of newspaper and bubble wrap for your delicates and you can get packing boxes on eBay. I paid about £15 for 20 last year.

Wreck, glad you made it! smile

PurpleRibbons Wed 25-May-16 16:34:32

Thanks girlie and glad you made it wreck.
I was very restrained in town, £20 on niece's birthday, £1.99 on Boots curl creme and £2.30 parking. The bloke in front of us in the car park found a quid on the floor and gave it to DD! That was quite sweet, she was very excited then tried to eat it! I shall let her choose something in the pound shop to spend it on!!

Cagliostro Wed 25-May-16 16:38:47

Phew glad you made it Wreck! Enjoy!

Awww at the pound Purple glad she didn't actually swallow it! grin

Oops disorganised mummy that I am forgot to get a snack in for Brownies (they're doing the sport badge and apparently that means they can't possibly manage until after the session grin)

Cagliostro Wed 25-May-16 16:39:58

And ((hug)) back to Girlie funnily enough we watched the first Rio yesterday. smile

apivita Wed 25-May-16 16:42:24

hello girlie thanks for the new thread! smile

In case people can't figure me out, I used to 'buzz' around here......;) lila ?

NSD.

wreck are you on holiday?? sorry I missed it. enjoy! we are off up north for a few days this weekend. can't wait.

Girliefriendlikesflowers Wed 25-May-16 16:54:49

The thought of packing makes me feel quite stressed grin dds bedroom shock she has so much bloody stuff I do try really hard to keep it on top of it but she is a collectaholic! I have just gone through the craft cupboard and binned stuff that hasn't seen the light of day for a long time, I think all that sort of stuff will have to go in dds bedroom in the new house as we will be short on storage.

I think I will have a day at home tomos and have a proper sort out and start to <gulp> pack.

Thinking about food for the next few days.
Tonight - chips, fishfingers and beans.
Tomorrow - sausage roast.
Friday - pizza and salad.
Sat going to my friends poss having a take away.
Sunday - spag bol (must remember to take out of freezer)
Monday - pasta and pesto with what ever else is left over in the fridge!

Probably not the healthiest of meal planning but will get us through to when we go away.

CremeEggThief Wed 25-May-16 17:04:30

Girlie, leave DD'S room until last if it's stressing you and pack up non-essentials in the other rooms first. It's amazing what you can get done in a couple of days. I did most of my last house in just 2 days, as I came down with a stomach bug the weekend before moving. Admittedly, having hardly any clutter in the first place really helped me with that. Ideally, you should decluttering before moving, but if you haven't got much time, you can always de-clutter after the move, when you can unpack at leisure.

lilacclery Wed 25-May-16 17:14:39

apivita the talk about jobs made me think it was you alright

needastrongone Wed 25-May-16 17:23:02

Evening.

Really excited for you Girlie, such an exciting, and scary time. I agree with Creme, the kitchen will always take you longer than you think. Declutter if you can, but not if you haven't got the time. Remember, you are moving money, not spending it smile

Training has been cancelled tonight as it's horrible here, but I'm glad as I am tired.

Spent £9 today.

babsmam Wed 25-May-16 17:25:20

Thanks for the new thread. Will catch up shortly

apivita Wed 25-May-16 17:26:01

lila grin

Cagliostro Wed 25-May-16 17:28:59

Glad you didn't buzz off api grin

Oooh I'm getting so excited about our trip now. I still have shitloads to do before that blush but just discovered that one couple is in fact staying BOTH nights in the same hotel as us, so we will get lots of time with them! Haven't seen them since Christmas (and before that it was Christmas 2014!) so I am really really happy about this smile

HairsprayQueen Wed 25-May-16 17:34:36

I fell off the last couple of threads so I'm back as just seen new thread. Thanks for starting Girlie.

All finances a bit crushing at the moment. Actually starting to worry me but I'm sure it will be fine. But only I'm sensible. And that's where my trouble lies!!

EvaDelectorskaya Wed 25-May-16 17:53:30

Updated spends today:
€2 on sweets and chocolate, I had a migraine yesterday and I'm craving sugar today, hopefully it's not a sign that the migraine will return this evening.
€33 on shoes from Debenhams, I tried them on at the weekend but all the pairs in store were scuffed so I ordered online, I used a cash back website for the first time so looking forward to seeing what I get back from that! Thanks again for the tip lila, I didn't know you could use them in ROI.
Also re your query earlier, I think if I were you, I will be giving up my second job, unless it was of really significant financial benefit to your family. I think working one full time job and having two small children is hugely busy as it is and I think you would need to be Superwoman to manage any more than that. That might be just me though!

Fluffycloudland77 Wed 25-May-16 17:56:05

Thank you Girlie. When do you get the keys?.

Welcome back Hair

Off to the court. Off I go. Leaving nice and early. Don't want to get done for speeding. Again!

Have had to faff around to find car insurance and registration documents. And marriage certificate as cars in Dhs name. Sigh.
