I see a strong red line with a paler one to its right - not sure if that means positive or negative.

I hope you get some more constructive advice soon, just didn't want you to go unanswered. x

the ebay tests are crap.

Go out and buy a decent brand.

It's definitely positive.

I'm guessing that's not a good thing?

Report
misdee · 09/06/2009 13:13

that looks + to me

Can you afford to go and buy a different brand test if you suspect it may be unreliable.

Sorry, no more practical advice. Afaik the pill isn't 100% absolutely, even if you never missed one. Were you prescribed any other medication that may have made the pill less effective. (I once had a near miss with some antibiotics)

Report
morningpaper · 09/06/2009 13:13

nah it doesn't look positive to me

Buy a proper test from Boots or somewhere

Are you still having your periods etc?

Report
Disenchanted3 · 09/06/2009 13:13

Yes its the dark one then lighter to right, think i took the photo upside down.

Sorry if this is not what you want to hear but all of my positive pregnancy tests were like this with a pale second line.

I'd say positive if they are the same type (when 2 lines say positive)

Report
Picante · 09/06/2009 13:14

It's definitely positive. I had those tests.

Report
Unicornvomit · 09/06/2009 13:14

there is a fainter pink line

is that a positive? did you read it within the allotted time?

have you had any antibiotics or other meds that could have interfered with your pill? or had a D&V bug

you have a late period and a potentially positive HPT.

perhpas you should go to your doc and they can do you a test or your local pharmacy or family planning clinic

onepieceofcremeegg · 09/06/2009 13:14

I'm not familiar with the brand, but I know it can be easy to misread when you are upset.

Is there any possibility that the dark line is the one just saying that the test is working? If so the line that indicates + or - is (imo) too faint to be sure.

Report
CarGirl · 09/06/2009 13:14

that's a + to me, ebay cheapo ones have always worked for me. If you are 2-3 months gone now then that could be why the line is quite feint.

How long since your last period?

Report
oopsacoconut · 09/06/2009 13:15

I think you may need to splash out on a clearblue to get a definite answer. That one does unfortunately look positive but as you say those ebay tests are notoriously rubbish but a line like that is currently throwning pasta at me from her highchair. (sorry)

Disenchanted3 · 09/06/2009 13:16

No antibiotics or anything like that, no tummy bugs either.

Yes its a 2 lines = + one.

Thats a photo at 5 mins which it says 'read at 5 mins' discard at 10.

I fecking hope its just them crap ebay tests,

I can't.

yup that is a positve - you don't need to do another one really.

so sorry you are upset how old is your dd?

Report
Rhubarb · 09/06/2009 13:17

I can see one red line. The pale one doesn't look very convincing to me, it's hardly there at all.

I would buy a proper, over the counter one and test again.

You may not be. Depending on your age, it could be peri-menopause. Your periods get irregular, you start to get pregnancy symptoms etc. This can start in your late thirties/early forties.

Report
DeepGoat · 09/06/2009 13:18

as someone how as spent 3/4 years staring at those bloody things i know when it is a positive.

Disenchanted3 · 09/06/2009 13:18

I'e not had a period for about 8 weeks, but thas because Im on the pill and only have a 7 day break every 3 months because my periods make me very ill (that was the advice of my GP)
So Ive been continually on the pill since DD was 21 days old.

I am not convinced

Buy a proper one quickly so we can decide who is right

Report
Disenchanted3 · 09/06/2009 13:20

I don't want to buy a proper one I didn't even want to do that one! Arghhh

Are you due a period now, could that be why you feel so ill?

Did you take the pill before your dd? Are you used to taking the pill? Is it a combined pill?

It is possible to fall pregnant whilst on the pill, but it's rare.

Go to drs and get booked for a dating scan. Sorry it's not what you want.

Sometimes having a fast metabolism can make it not work, or just being a little bit late, slighty runny tum etc etc etc it's just not that affective in all circumstances tbh.
