Hello, I'm new to MumsNet. We are officially going to ttc baby #1 at the end of September but I'm 1dpo and in the 7 days leading up to ovulation we DBD 4 times. I'm so so hoping that AF won't make an appearance on the 22nd August! Just starting the tww. Anyone else in this boat, or anyone else ttc on cycle 1?

Best wishes,
K x

Hi Katilo :)

Yes we're on baby #1 and cycle #1.. we were planning to officially start ttc in September (DH works away and he wasn't due home until then) but he got a couple of unexpected nights at home this week so we dtd every night.. I guess that means things have been brought forward a month!! This is my first cycle off the pill though so goodness knows what my cycle length is.. but based on a 28 days cycle the timing was good this week!

It's all quite exciting huh? We've been together for 10 years but only started talking about ttc when we got married 2 years ago. Just finishing off a house build so we have the time and space.. we're as ready as we'll ever be I expect!!

Nice to hear from you!

It's all very exciting! Ah fingers crossed your cycle is on track still, how many days post-ovulation are you?

I don't really want to test early, I just want to see what happens and then test if I'm late, having said that I have no patience and so will probably test on the days just before AF. I'm 1dpo

Hi Monkey!

I'm not exactly sure when I ovulated (if at all) but the app I'm using to track my cycles says I'm on CD20 and my period is due 19 Aug. I nearly bought a pregnancy test with my weekly shop yesterday but decided not to as they are in those tagged boxes.. None of our friends or family know we are ttc and I thought it would be just my luck to bump into someone as I was waiting for it to be de-tagged!! So I ordered a couple on Amazon last night instead :) Going to try and wait until AF is a few days late before I test!

Have you told anyone you're ttc? We decided not to so we don't feel under pressure.. My family would be so over the top excited, and we know it could take us a while due to DH work schedule. I have mentioned it to a couple friends at work - one is ttc and the other is pregnant - but it's nice to be able to chat about things in here too!

Hello! May I join? TTC cycle #1, I'm on CD1 - this will be baby number 3 after longish break :) I just had my coil out 2 weeks ago so really hoping things will go back to normal quite quickly!

I've been through this 4 times before (2 early MC's) and I always say I'm going to be relaxed about the whole thing, but I always obsess over TWW symptoms and am a POAS addict!! We have told only 2 close friends that we are TTC, everyone else assumes that we are 'finished' with our family.

Good luck ladies with your TTC journeys! x

We've not told anyone either, Lily (apart from my brother as DH was desperately excited to let someone in on our secret!). It would feel too pressured if everyone knew mainly because my mam really wants grandkids! I don't feel like I can tell my friends at the moment as I would be the first on the baby journey!
I got a pack of tests in my Asda home delivery shop for a similar worry!
Hi Luna, good luck with number 3! And I've already started on the 2WW symptom spotting even though there would be nothing to spot yet!

We aren't telling people either.. Though I may have mentioned something to my sister and best friend. Kinda have it in my head that if it happens soon though, I'd fib and make them think it hadn't so it would still be a bit of a surprise and would get us to the 10-12week stage...! I've thought through various scenarios ;) it's so bizarre and exciting to think it could be happening now. After the years of avoiding it, I can't imagine it happening. I'm not obsessing as much as I thought I would, but if I'm honest, that's just so I don't jinx it.. I'm very much wanting a bfp first month! Lovely to share stories, and will be nice to hear the outcomes at test time too!

Best wishes,
K x

Hi Pixie and Luna Smile

My mum is the same Monkey, so desperate for grandchildren.. She calls my two dogs her grandchildren atm dear of her!

My DH asked me after one try of dtd if I felt pregnant yet Grin I think he is as excited as me! I don't know what the early pregnancy signs are.. probably best not to know or I'll drive myself mad!

We've got a holiday booked next month so I keep telling myself it won't be such a bad thing if we didn't get a bfp this cycle (so I can have a few cocktails!) but now that we've started we're both hoping we got lucky first time!!

Hi k, i know I would love a bfp on the first month Grin even though we only started trying I feel like I've waited ages as I've been ready to have a baby for a long time!

Haha lily - my mum refers to herself as nana to my two cats! She desperate to be a nana, it's so hard keeping the secret! Oh where you going on holiday? Have a lovely time.

We're going to Lake Garda in Italy - hoping for nice weather, nice hotel and lots of opportunities to get down to business!!

I'm going to have to be careful with my mum when we do get a bfp.. if she asks after the grandchildren (ie dogs) I could drop myself in it without even thinking!!

What do ovulation pains feel like Kat? The other day I felt a twinge in my side but I had my arms stretched out at the time so just though it was that hehe :)

Katilo2 · 10/08/2015 18:30

Sorry I meant today I've had them in my right side.. Unless I'm just concentrating on every twinge. I'm pretty sure it's Mittelschmerz though! Is it common to ovulate twice in a month? Best wishes xx

Hi Lily,

For me, it's usually one sided, from my hip into my groin. It feels like an almost (but not quite) sharp pain. Can be for a hour or most of the day xx

I don't think I've ever had ovulation pains but never tracked it before and may have just shrugged it off. Day 2 of fertile window (according to Ovia) and still not positive on opks! So impatient xx

My mam calls herself the dogs grandma! I think because my brother is 30 and I'm 28 she's feeling time tick by without any babies around!
I get a sharp pain in my side around ovulation too, figured it must be the egg being released so when we decided to TTC I've been keeping a feel out for it!

Luna7993 · 10/08/2015 20:27

I have Ov pain; I can feel it more since having kids. Yes it feels one-sided, quite a sharp pain, lasts about an hour or so. Sometimes I have had it over a few days. Definitely follow your instincts/what your body is telling you! Ov pains mixed with high sex dive - definitely DTD!!

Supposedly You're more likely to wear red during ovulation also!! Red is sexy Wink

Have any of you felt it twice within 24hrs? I've read this is one cycle but double ovulation and is how fraternal twins are made..?

If a miracle happened and I got a bfp first month, that would be a pretty interesting scan..! :) I live in hope ;) xx

Welcome to all!

Imagine that - conceiving twins on your first cycle!!

I've definitely felt Ov pains a few times within 24 hrs. Don't have twins :) But how interesting to think that, I never knew.

Also how interesting about wearing red during ovulation!

Katilo, I have read that if you release 2 eggs it is within 24 hours of each other so your ovulation pains make sense!
Twins would be lovely Smile
