I will be your conductor thread starter for all of us that are hoping for a BFP in October 2012.

Allow me to start.

Hello all

I'm an old face, I used to be on these threads but had to leave as was getting a bit green eyed at the BFPs. I've decided to get back on the thread bandwagon and revel in the shared triumphs of others. Fingers crossed this is a lucky thread!

Yesterday was a year since we started TTC, we are young, fit, healthy and rather shocked at our lack of success! Spoke to our GP who was encouraging, I'll go back to see him shortly now that we are past the year mark.

Its my birthday a few days before AF is due, and I know exactly what I want this year! smile

Hi Tuesday

Hope you have a very Happy Birthday wink

Almond

When do you test with the cb, I don't have a regular cycle either and have no idea when to test unless I do it everyday and re-mortgage to be able to do that!!

33PinkLadyApple Tue 11-Sep-12 20:55:09

<waves, pays full fare and sits down> im defo on the bus sad. Cd1

I think I might head off in my lunchbreak tomorrow to get some cb opks. But will resist using them for about 12 days I think.....in the meantime, I guess it is just a case of practising with DH (amidst packing boxes for house move 4 weeks today)

AlmondFrangipani Tue 11-Sep-12 22:06:38

Chook I start on day 6 then just try as long as possible. I know what you mean about price though!! I got a good deal on eBay but u have to watch it like a hawk! I said the same to my DH and he said the cost for the sticks was nothing in the grand scale of things when u have the cost of a child but we don't have any yet so easy to say! Also only on 3rd cycle of trying so he may say otherwise in 6 months time (fingers crossed BFP before then!)!

chookford Tue 11-Sep-12 22:16:00

Almond

Thanks for that, I am still trying to take a relaxed approached to ttc so am not monitoring anything just dtd as and when we can hopefully it will work soon, but if not then I will start to poas just to give us the best chance! But you are right the cost is nothing if in the end you get your baby, and to be fair once you have one you don't stop spending money on them so it is kind of fitting! grin

TakingTheStairs Wed 12-Sep-12 09:02:01

Hi Tuesday, welcome to the bus. I'm sorry you haven't had much luck so far. We'll all be crossing our fingers for you. Thank goodness you have a lovely GP to help along the way.

Almond I agree, avocados are far too healthy for a bus journey grin
I've only done two days (started day 7) of the CB OPK sticks but they seem easy enough to use. Except for the packaging around the new sticks. Bloody difficult to open first thing in the morning when you're dying for a pee!

waves Might waiting 12 days be too late? Obviously I don't know how long your cycle is, but you should start testing on day 6. Once you get the smiley face you don't have to test any more. It means that you are in the magic 48 hours.

33PinkLadyApple Sorry it didn't work out for you, but welcome (officially) to the bus.

Morning Lexi & Taking

Can I interest either of you in some freshly made Apple Pie?! I have found since ttc, making cakes has been a way to take my mind off things so I have a house full of them! Everyone is welcome to take a piece! Otherwise I will eat them all alone and be a crazy cake eating loony! grin

LexiLoganberry Wed 12-Sep-12 10:52:34

Thanks taking smile

LexiLoganberry Wed 12-Sep-12 10:54:29

chookford I'd love some apple pie. Do you have custard or ice cream, not that it matter's I like both

TakingTheStairs Wed 12-Sep-12 10:59:55

ooohh Apple Pie, thanks chookford I've been thinking about yummy pies since watching The Great British Bake Off last night. It was so good!

Good call on the custard or ice cream or both Lexi smile

chookford Wed 12-Sep-12 11:33:08

How about Custard flavour Ice-Cream?!

TakingTheStairs Wed 12-Sep-12 13:13:56

oooh yum, it's a deal!

VioletCherry Wed 12-Sep-12 13:22:37

hello all, and welcome newcomers.
Thanks for the feedback, I think I am going to hold off on the ovulation sticks for this month. For me, I think it would just be another thing to rattle around in my TTC brain. I know its early days but seems like once you make the big decision to try a BFP can't come fast enough smile. I am determined not to get consumed with the mechanics and try to enjoy the process. If we don't have any luck in the next couple of months I expect I'll rethink using OPK.
Hope no-one minds but until then my TTC stresses are going to be played out strictly on MN and not in RL!

33PinkLadyApple Wed 12-Sep-12 13:23:56

taking I am going to plump for a 28 day cycle (even though cycle 1 was only 23 days!). Please can you put me down for a BFP on Oct 9th? TVM.

Thanks chook I luuuuuurve apple pie. nom nom nom.

chookford Wed 12-Sep-12 13:54:22

You are welcome 33

Any requests for tomorrows cake? I was thinking chocolate fudge?! I shall make a big pot of brew too and everyone can have a sing-song on the party bus! (I am calling it that as anything that comes with cake and tea is a party in my eyes!)

TakingTheStairs Wed 12-Sep-12 13:57:58

Violet I am the same, I'l be venting all my TTC stresses here. Only one friend and DH (obv!) know that we're TTC so I get all my questions out here!

I'm hoping for a smiley face on the OPK this weekend. Cross your fingers for me everyone!

chookford Wed 12-Sep-12 17:03:30

I have everything crossed for you Taking even my eyes, which makes cooking quite frankly dangerous, but worth the danger for a smiley face!! grin

ella0 Wed 12-Sep-12 17:59:37

Hello again,

I said that I wouldn't use OPKs until we had been trying for 6 mths, but my husband has convinced me to give them a try this month (after a friend of his became pregnant soon after starting to use them).

So I've started using Clear Blue digital sticks from CD6 this month. I know the instructions say you can use them in the morning, but after reading so many stories of them not working as well in the morning, I am using them at around 5pm each day (they're so expensive, I don't want to risk them not working!). I know earlier in the afternoon is ideal, but I'm at work then and really can't do the tests there!

It's torture as I normally drink a lot of water throughout the day. The instructions just state to not drink an excessive amount, but I think that what I normally drink would be considered excessive to most people (I'm always sipping from a water bottle) so I'm just having a tiny sip of water every hr between 1 and 5pm (and obviously not going to the loo during this time).

CD6 seems early to start testing for a 28 cycle; I'm going with it this month as it's the first, but I'll start later next month (maybe CD10). I'm on CD9 now and no smiley yet.

TakingTheStairs Thu 13-Sep-12 09:17:42

Thanks Chookford Mind you don't burn yourself!

Ella0 I didn't know they didn't work well in the morning? I thought that's when the hormones would be highest in the pee?
I've been using them in the morning. Only three days into testing but hoping for a smiley face over this weekend.
