The (updated)(again)(again)(again) 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator for the Viroids:

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday (or when you've had bad news). Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended). (But it does work).

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at every opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Keep acronym-age to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'. Try not to get sucked in by Fertility Friend (at least for a while), but knowing where you are in your cycle and furkling for pant snot is most definitely allowed.
OV is ovulation - I'm allowed to forget what date I've OVd, feel free to join me on that one!

Bunting is to be put out for any small victory, thread-parties are held regularly and hugs are always welcome!

Once you have your BFP, feel free to hang around and share your wisdom and virtual cocktails with the JSers.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

*

Most of these rules are well and truly broken!! But we try to chill - honest

Hello everyone else. Am on phone so sorry not to NC everyone - hard to switch between threads!

As for me, CD7 and AF finally on the way out. Gearing up for some focussed SWI over the next 10 days or so. DH won't know what's hit him!

Oh and had my end of year review with my boss this morning which went well with lots of discussion about my future development and potential - got to keep my bases covered incase DC#2 never appears Hmm

BamBam21 · 12/04/2011 14:15

Yay, lovely new thread! Thanks Josie.Smile

I think I have the same bug as you too. Hit me suddenly last night with a sore throat and horrible snotty nose. DP is the same. We still managed some JSing though!Grin

Miffles · 12/04/2011 14:27

Thought I'd just pop in to say hi to some of the oldies who remember me.

Have been lurking and wanted to add commiserations to dee. Was really sad to read your news. You sounded positive at the end of the last thread, so I really hope you come to terms with things.

Lovely new thread Josie - lets hope it comes true that the thread started gets up-duffed. Grin I know it didn't work for me or Nelly - at least not yet anyway!

Chuntering along here - nothing much to say really. Still on the clomid. Still waiting.

Happy shagging viroids!!!

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 12/04/2011 14:53

Right got you on my watch list now so I can get nice and comfy on the shiny new thread and lurk Grin will promise not to waste the thread post too much to allow as much time for josie as she needs now she's a bit more laid back about it all Smile But remember me if you need any dodgy symptoms interpreting Wink

Lots of BFPs please!

JosieSmith1 · 12/04/2011 15:27

Katee I'm sure I can find plenty of symptoms to obsess over interpret Grin

Good to hear from you Miffles Smile hope everything is ok

Thank you for making a new thread! I like the title too.

I just got back from town. I know I should probably be saving up ready for my new house, but it's suddenly become summer time and DD doesn't have any summer clothes. So I bought her about 10 dresses, a couple of hats and even some sunglasses! She won't keep the hats or sunglasses on, but I juuuuust managed to get a picture so I could show my family and friends.

Thank you SES. No new news about the house yet. I have to try and keep busy to distract myself! I can't sleep for mentally decorating my new house. Got my ECG tomorrow, so I won't sleep tonight either, for a completely different reason of course.

Sorry to hear that you're under the weather Josie and Bam. Get well soon!

Very glad to hear you are planning on coming back deemented. I don't know about everyone else, but I missed you when you were gone! But I'm afraid to say I probably will still be here when you come back. Good to see you are sticking around as well, katee.

Hi again Miffles!

Becs19 · 12/04/2011 16:30

Definitely like to new thread title! Sorry I haven't posted for a while but have been hanging around and reading. Nothing new happening just hanging on in at work till we break up on friday for easter. I think I ovulated yesterday (just monitering for pant snot - no ovulation sticks etc) so had a SWI last night. Fingers crossed. Not too worrried tho as only the first month of trying and heading off on our honeymoon on sunday so lots to look forward to!

Get well soon Josie and Bam nothing worse than feeling unwell.

BamBam21 · 12/04/2011 16:51

I know I should be happy about the nice weather, but it's so damn noisy here with kids running around in the street, and even playing in our stair (we live in a flat). It's driving me mad. It was like this last summer too. WHY DO THEY ALL HAVE TO SHOUT AT EACH OTHER???!!! It's annoying because I am trying to fulfil a long-time ambition and write a book at the moment. I haven't got anything done the last week or so, as DS is on his Easter holidays, but he is out with my mum all day today. I really wanted to get going, but I can't concentrate for the little feckers making such a racket. I don't let him outside in the street to play, and I wouldn't let him play in the stair because, actually, it's not a playground and other people live here and it's really fecking inconsiderate.Angry Wish it was still cold and dark. Harrumph.

Nice to see you back becs. You must be excited about your honeymoon. Are you getting married on Saturday then, or is it a late honeymoon?Smile

babylann · 12/04/2011 16:54

Ooh, what's your book about Bam? I'm writing one too!

BamBam21 · 12/04/2011 17:13

Ooh, really babylann? I have an adult one and a children's one both on the go, although the children's one is the only one I have started actually writing. It's about a wee girl who has had to move house and is worried about starting her new school. There's a fox that comes to her garden, and she befriends it, and the friendship gets her through until she finds her feet in her new home.

The adult one is based around a sort of vampire story, flicking between medieval times and the present. I still have to flesh out the details and probably do lots of historical research, but I have a real passion for all things medieval!Grin

What's yours about babylann? It's so hard to describe a plot idea, because as soon as you try, it sounds awful!!Blush

crowette · 12/04/2011 17:55

oooh nice new thread!!

just going back to the old thread, about my OH being squeamish about the word 'mucus' ... the reason I found it so funny is because he's not normally squeamish about that sort of thing! He has no qualms about seeing me go to the loo (not that I let him watch!!) and we quite often have farting comps (we don't see the point in hiding a perfectly natural function in our own home) ... he just appears to have a thing about the word 'mucus' Confused

I keep saying I want to write a book, but can never think of a unique story Sad

I give up with my body - temps down again today (CD21) so no ovulation according to that, but boob pain and tummy cramps tell me otherwise ... so I'll just have to wait and see. May be worth a trip to the docs now, as we've been TTC since August and I'm 39.

BamBam21 · 12/04/2011 18:05

LOL at your OH crow! My DP isn't really squeamish either, even about periods, but I think "mucus" is a particularly nasty word and reminds me of yellow phlegm!Grin

Finding an original idea is difficult, and now I'm worried that you are all going to say that my kids' book sounds exactly like such-and-such!!Grin

NervousNelly · 12/04/2011 18:12

In my haste to jump onto the shiny thread, I forgot to acknowledge dee. What absolutely rubbish news, I'm so sorry. We will all be here for you, if or when you need us.

Glad to see lots of us jumping over here. I am glad my thread was so positive for so many (pun intended!) even if not for me Hmm. I promise to try harder this time, both in posting and JSing :)

Lovely to see you miffs. . Sorry you aren't up-duffed yet either :(

Now I must get all soapbox-y for a minute, and berate those of you who are using the acronymn SWI. The whole point of the viroids is it's shagging WITHOUT intent Hmm. As you were Grin.

On phone so that's enough fighting predictive text. B&B is shut for the night, hurrah :)

babylann · 12/04/2011 19:34

Bam, I was writing two books. I always dreamed I'd be a writer and never have to get a conventional job. That started slipping away, and then I had DD and for some reason it was renewed. I was thinking of all this time where I'm not working, I should get loads written! Grin

The first book, I scrapped. That was basically about some freak black hole in the middle of the ocean that a ferry passes through (I started writing it around the time I heard about that collider mabob they have to try and recreate a mini big bang or whatever) - all the people on the deck get ported to this weird world, like an almost identical dimension, where there is no God and never has been a God or a belief in God, basically meaning there is no social morality. It was interesting for me thinking of all the implications of what would happen if there had never been religion. I figured nudity would be acceptible, sex would have no rules and regulations - e.g. if you were walking down the street and fancied a bit of sex, you could just ask the nearest person without being seen as a pervert. Weird things like that. I explored it further and further until I realised it could only happen in a world without structured society or money. The characters are all trying to get back to their old world, but the main plot line is the main character falls in love with a woman in the other world, but realises they can never be together because she has no idea of how a relationship works or why they would ever happen. If you get me. She doesn't understand why he gets upset when she has sex with someone else as there is no romantic jealousy.

I stopped writing that one. I thought it was a bit pretentious and self-indulgent really. Grin "Ooh look at me trying to be philosophical!"

Now I'm writing a "young adult" book. I found them really hard to come across when I was say 12-15, and when you did find them they were always so childish and soft. So I started reading adult fiction and then missed out a lot because a lot of things were referenced that I didn't have any experience of, and I couldn't relate to the characters because they were always 10-20 years older than me.

I started writing this before The Only Way Is Essex started, but it's about a reality show which is played out like a documentary following teenage students through their daily lives. The premise of the reality show is to show what teenagers are really like, as they have been portrayed so negatively in things like Jeremy Kyle, and so bizarrely in shows like The Inbetweeners. But obviously, the directors want the show to bring in viewers, so they "mix it up" a bit by choosing four girls as their main stars who are completely different, and making them pretend they are all best friends, despite their differences. It all spirals out of control as none of them like each other and are forced to spend time together to shoot scenes and all have their RL dramas as well. And they become famous overnight, and have to deal with that too. Etc.

Hmm You're right! My plot line does sound silly now I wrote it down. I've written about 6 chapters of the second one. I pretty much wrote the entire of the first one and ditched it at the last hurdle because I started getting really carried away. But I write SO much and so quickly that it's hard to control myself.

As is displayed by my essay posts on forums! Grin

babylann · 12/04/2011 19:37

Oh. Grin I thought it was shagging WITH intent. As in "I want to get pregnant but I'm not going to take it too seriously, I'm just going to shag with the intent of making a baby." Because it's very very clear that it's what we are doing, so I don't see why we would need an acronym for shagging without intent, as that must be protected sex and surely none of us are doing that (well, apart from me, temporarily).

NervousNelly · 12/04/2011 21:18

Wow babylann that really is an essay Wink. The books both sound interesting, albeit very different! Perhaps the first is just your disseration-in-waiting Grin.

I see what you are saying about the SWI. However I think where it came from is that the fun can really go out of sex, when it's all about timing, and charting, and positions, and pant snot. The idea is that we have sex all the time, any time of the month, whether ovulating or not, so it's just for pure fun :). But if we happen to get a BFP at the end of it, well that's just a bonus Wink. Soooo - no intent, Just Shagging, for the pure enjoyment of it Grin.

babylann · 12/04/2011 22:50

Ahhh. Well personally, that's what I was doing. I didn't have a choice anyway! I haven't had a regular period in almost 2 years (including the 9 months of no periods when I had the baby in my tummy Wink) so I had no idea when I might ovulate. And I'm nowhere near organised enough to take my temperature every day and monitor my "pant snot".

As an update, DP came home with the information that there have been 3 new offers on the house, all £1k more than our offer. So now we're going to have to offer more. Grrr. Angry Luckily, we've found out we can offer up to 3k more than the offer currently stands at, so I think we're just going to offer our max, and then there's literally nothing we can do from that point.

BamBam21 · 13/04/2011 10:58

Morning all!

Hi babylann. Sorry about your house shenanigans. I hope that your max offer will seal the deal for you. I was thinking about your book ideas, and I really love the first one. I don't think it's pretentious, and I hope you will maybe revisit the idea at some point. My interest is always in early medieval stuff, and I was thinking that your imagined society sounds very similar to that period, but different in that the early folk were WAY into religion, but it turned them similarly savage in many ways. Does that make sense?Smile

Hope you enjoyed having the B&B closed last night nelly!Wink

Well, I am a snottery mess today and feel awful. Just off to take some more cold & flu tablets. I will try not to sneeze over you all!Grin

babylann · 13/04/2011 11:41

Yeah that makes sense BamBam. :) Make sure you keep me updated on how your writing goes! Sorry you are still feeling crappy :(

I don't think we're getting the house. DP has figured out money and it seems an offer that big would ruin our finances more than we can handle, considering it's further from his work so we have to add travel costs onto our monthly budget too. It's a horrible shame. I'm feeling pretty blue about it :(

I'm going to go on a mortgage calculator, sit and work out our affordable maximum and then make that offer, even if it seems quite pointless now. I wish there was a way I could find out who our competition is, call them up and beg them to just let us have it.

People I know don't seem to believe that this is a once in a lifetime house for us. We can't afford the general cost of houses in that area, it's one of those places that everyone wants to live. This is our only shot, probably for a long time.

BamBam21 · 13/04/2011 11:47

Aw babylann that's a shame.Sad You never know though, your offer may be accepted. It's a hard balancing act. We live in a village, as we couldn't afford the nearest city, but it costs us a fortune for a really rubbish train service.

We can keep each other updated about our writing. I feel quite positive about it today, even though I won't be able to do much until Monday, when DS goes back to school.Smile

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 13/04/2011 12:01

Hi Babylann,

Just a warning about buying repossessed houses... me and DP tried to do this a few years ago and the system is just nuts - you make an offer and have to be prepared to complete within 28 days, but then they publish your offer in the paper and invite people to gazzump you, three offers down the line and we gave up as it was too stressful. Not to say that this will happen to you, but please be aware of it and don't set your heart too hard on it. We fell in love with a lovely old derelict cottage in a village which was being sold by auction... some rich kid's parents bought it for him - at over twice our budget (and that was before any refurbishment/restoration costs!).

I never want to move again, but our house is really impractical, so will happen sooner or later Hmm

babylann · 13/04/2011 12:19

Thanks for the advice Katee. I've been getting a lot of warnings about repossessed houses and mortgages in general. My ex's mum messaged me last night about it, saying the way the company are starting a bit of a "bidding war" is dodgy and not good practice. I never knew that - I assumed it would naturally be a bidding war.

I heard that once they accepted your offer, they will make a public notice to see if people want to buy it for more, if they don't it's only then we can go ahead and start with the surveys etc. I'm not sure. I know I'm getting my heart broken by this, actually, I don't even know why we're still discussing it. It's gambling a 99% chance of complete disappointment for a 1% chance of complete ecstasy. And I'm a bit of a gambler Hmm and a sore loser.

We have been messaging our financial situation back and forth, checking out mortgage calculators, loan calculators, bla bla bla. All we have learned is that actually we have about £300 a month that we somehow spend but can't figure out where! ConfusedGrin But, we think we can probably make it to the asking price and that's where we'll have to sit.

Well our situation is opposite Bam - we can easily afford the city (it's such a dump that nobody wants to live there anyway), but wouldn't want to! It's the village which is expensive here! This city has been voted worst place to live in the country a few times. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

BamBam21 · 13/04/2011 12:44

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you anyway babylann. I don't really understand the system in England. The Scottish system is all about bidding wars, with the "offers over" system, but at least we don't have the gazumping issue. We live near Edinburgh, which is horrendously expensive, and we just couldn't afford it. It's lovely to live in a village though, but transport costs are huge. It's swings and roundabouts I suppose.

Biscuit
