I have a Pearl who is nearly 4 years old - so I love it.
The only trouble i have had which i did nott foresee is people pronouncing it incorrectly, for example other children at dd's nursery - i got a couple of Xmas cards addressed to 'Pell' because the parents could not figure out what their toddler was saying!
But in 4 years we have never met another little girl called Pearl, which is nice!

so long as you're not scottish and roll your r's...it becomes "peril" which is not so good!

Usually. Someone was incredibly rude about her name is the postnatal ward after she was born, saying 'oh my God, why?' and then talking amongst themselves briefly about the 'poor baby'. This was one girl and i think her parents who were visiting.
Mostly i get the usual 'how unusual - its lovely'.
Lots of people seem to like it but couldnt consider useing it because their partner does not.
