SadSadSad

We narrowed our list down, to a handful of names, the day I had my first scan. I assumed we'd have a name picked, by the gender reveal scan - I was very, very wrong.

He is 6 weeks, tomorrow (that's when the registration appointment is booked, too) so we really need to have 'the one'...

We have tried using each name, but it just didn't help. I thought he'd suit one more, but nope - I now need some 3rd party advice! Wink

Our list is:

  • Aidan
  • Charlie
  • Ciaran/Kieran
  • Elliot/Elliott
  • Louis/Louie
  • Matthew
  • Noah
  • Oliver
  • Tommy (Thomas on BC) but I'm not completely sold on Thomas...

Maybe put them in order - your favourite first; down to your least favourite!

Charles will be the middle name, but if Charlie is picked, it'll be James.

I'm very new here, so please bear with me!

Thank you so much Smile

What have you been calling him so far?!

Honestly they're all lovely names and once you've chosen one and used it for a while it'll start to "feel" right.

Good luck!

I'd go for Matthew. Beautiful name and meaning, and not over-used at the moment.

Matthew Charles.

Second choice Louis Charles.

I like James, but I think I prefer the others more! Smile

Aidan!

I have a very cool 14 year old son called Aidan. He's clever, sociable and even has a girlfriend.

He loves the fact that his name comes from the iona monk who converted the `English (dad is Irish)

Go for Aidan!

Honestly, we haven't really called him anything! Blush just "little man"...

They're all gorgeous names. You can't go wrong with any of those. They are classics. I can't really pick a favourite easily. But I wouldn't put a cute nickname on the birth certificate. Call him Tommy but put Thomas (or just Tom) or call him Charlie but put Charles.

Elliott James. If I ever have a little boy that's his name!!

HeffalumpHistory · 30/03/2016 14:43

I like

Elliott
Noah
Matthew

In that order.

I agree with Jalopy though, whatever you name him you will very quickly get used to so anything else would then sound odd iyswim.

Good luck & congratulations

Louie and Tommy are both gorgeous classic names. Def my favs from your list.

I wouldn't ever put just Tommy, even though I'm not fully sold on Thomas - it's not fair on him!

I thought Charlie was very acceptable, for the BC? Confused if not, I'd be happy to put Charles.

Noah. I just think it looks lovely when it's wrote down and it sounds lovely too. Also think the same about Matthew but Noah would be 1st for me.

Ciaran/Kieran
(prefer 1st spelling)
Louis/Louie
(I know people who have called their boy this and other people call him Lewis on first meeting. I know that's not how it shold be, and it really annoys them - so just thought i'd point it out)
Elliot/Elliott
(prefer first spelling)
Aidan

In this area there are loads of Noahs, Olivers (also Ollies), and Charlies. Not sure if that would matter to you, and also what it's like in the area you live for boys called the same. Personally i'm not keen on Tommy, my cousin was Christened Thomas but is known as Tommy. He's 37 but it's a name I associate with a child, obviously this is JMO.

Elliot is lovely and not over used. Some of the others are really popular, which may or may not bother you.
