I'm a teacher and have children with a wide range of names at school but I think Destiny and Foreva are the worst. Anyone else come across any other Just No names?

Any and call names with unique aka incorrect spellings.

I've encountered a lot of Chanel and Cartier in the classroom. Just waiting for Gucci and Prada cos nothing says class like a designer name.

I know a Forever. you get over it when you get to know the child. not for me personally though

I know a Destinee and I think it's quite pretty but I wouldn't ever name my DC that, tbh. I know a boy called Toronto (his parents have no connection to any Toronto whatsoever btw) which I thought was a bit odd, although he's known as Tor, which I like.

Not another sneery name thread.

PreciousPeach Sun 27-Apr-14 13:18:14

Just no names for me are those predictably boring names like Amelie etc hth

JumpingJackSprat Sun 27-Apr-14 13:30:29

Oh goody another one of these threads. For me anything in the top 50 which demonstrated a clear lack of imagination. Top 10 is even worse.

Megrim Sun 27-Apr-14 13:40:29

A top ten name does not demonstrate "a clear lack of imagination".

It does demonstrate that you like a name and are not so precious that you're mortified if other people also like it enough to call their children the same name.

Babe, Tequila and Horatio

Ruprekt Sun 27-Apr-14 13:43:18

Memphis and D'Niro are the worst for me. confusedconfused

MrsBungle Sun 27-Apr-14 13:43:45

There are some names I dislike or find boring or too "out there" but to deliberately sneer at names is wanky in my opinion.

SirChenjin Sun 27-Apr-14 13:44:57

Jack - really, really boring.

usualsuspectt Sun 27-Apr-14 13:52:14

When I was watching the boat race the other week, there was a someone rowing for Oxford or Cambridge, can't remember which, called Storm.

And I laughed and thought 'up yours MN baby names snobs'

Ludways Sun 27-Apr-14 13:54:27

The whole "mustn't be in the top 20/50/100" crap baffles me, I feel like saying "would you pick a frigging name you like and go with it, already!" Obviously you don't want to be one of 7 in the family or close friends but apart from that, pffft!

unlucky83 Sun 27-Apr-14 13:58:44

'Boo' - not short for anything - just that ...
Maybe ok for a baby - but as an adult? (don't know if they had a middle name they could use though...)
Can you imagine a future Prime Minister being called Boo? or Babe? or Foreva?
I think certain names reduce your DC's choices in life...
Imagine a CV from 'Boo Smith' - pretty sure you will be judged in advance with a name like that - even if only because they thought you'd used your nickname on your cv.
Sad, not fair, but true I think...
On the other hand maybe you would get interviewed because they wanted to see what you looked like? So maybe an advantage...

Not this shite again. How long before someone posts that their friend of a friend was in the hospital bed next to a woman who called her baby Chlamydia?

OnlyLovers Sun 27-Apr-14 14:00:36

I like Horatio and Destiny.

pictish Sun 27-Apr-14 14:02:19

Foreva is a cracker. grin

Coconutty Sun 27-Apr-14 14:04:22

I was waiting for someone to swear blind they know a chlamydia.

ThinkIveBeenHacked Sun 27-Apr-14 14:04:44

Nevaeh is my least favourite if all the made up names.

nonameisgoodname Sun 27-Apr-14 14:10:54

Gypsy, Baby and Dolly are my worst.
