Kit, Wilfred or Diggory... If you hate all 3, stay away!

Any opinions? Am too tired to be slated if you hate them all! I think we might chicken out and do Diggory as a second name, but dh loves the nn Digger and we know a Diggory, so it probably seems less unusual to us than it might do to others!

Digger Barnes! I like Diggory! Not enough to use it myself but I wouldn't laugh at somebody else who used it. You can't have a David, a John and a Diggory though.

Wilfred is a bit blah in comparison, a version of William but not William. Wilbur, Wilfred

Kit is nice but only as a nn for Christopher. A Kit needs a fall back more than Diggory or Wilfred. I can imagine an adult male called Diggory or Wilfred. But what if Kit is 42 and nursing a lunchedsenseless belly? You just have to give him something stronger than 'kit' ten to fall back on.

Love Kit (Kester/Christopher) and Diggory is a great middle name. Wilfred is a bit comedy.

Love Kit as nn for Christian, just to throw that one out there. Christopher nice too. Then either of the other names would be nice as middle name:

(Kit) Christopher Diggory
(Kit) Christopher Wilfred

or even Christopher Wilfred Diggory

I love Kit. I thought I liked Wilfred but in reality when I met parents calling after a little Wilf it didn't quite fit for me. Not sure about Diggory but I quite like Digby!

Kit is lovely.

I will politely refrain from commenting on the other two suggested names. I will say that I had a lovely Highland Terrier called Digger, best dog ever.

TheRealFellatio Fri 26-Jul-13 10:58:28

Kit is nice the other two are awful. Digby is better than Diggory if you must have something diggy at all. grin

I like Kit, not keen on Wilf. I was thinking of Diggory for my own DS due in October until my French partner pointed out it sounded like "dix gorilles" grin

FingersCrossedLegsNot Fri 26-Jul-13 13:07:50

I love them all but have a real soft spot for Kit!

valiumredhead Fri 26-Jul-13 13:09:49

Kit! Great namegrin

Still18atheart Fri 26-Jul-13 13:14:07

Think all three are great names but in order of preference
Kit
Diggory
Wilfred

Bowlersarm Fri 26-Jul-13 13:15:36

Kit.

Great name. smile

Sorry but don't like the other two.

mamaknows Fri 26-Jul-13 14:00:32

Has to be Kit for me, absolutely love it!

Not really as keen on the other two names though I'm afraid.

EatYourCrusts Fri 26-Jul-13 14:02:50

I like Kit best.

NobodyPutsTomArcherInTheCorner Fri 26-Jul-13 14:03:02

Kit. But as a nn for Christopher.

Big no from me for the other two though, sorry.

JacqueslePeacock Fri 26-Jul-13 14:04:45

Kit short for Christopher. Much nicer than the other two I'd say.

I like Diggory.

willyoulistentome Fri 26-Jul-13 14:08:36

Kit's great. The other two - not so great.

KnittedWaffle Fri 26-Jul-13 14:11:01

Kit!

notso Fri 26-Jul-13 14:16:14

I LOVE Digby but DH vetoed, I think it's nicer than Diggory.

Kit is ok, but many, many mumsnetters love it.

Wilfred/Wilf don't like I much prefer Alfred/Alfie.

squoosh Fri 26-Jul-13 14:20:18

I know a Digby and always think 'Biggest Dog in the World'.

FoxyRevenger Fri 26-Jul-13 14:22:12

Oh, I love love love Kit. But I have a Kate so couldn't use it for DS.

Wilfred...not great.

Diggory...really, really no.

Frettchen Fri 26-Jul-13 14:38:39

I love Diggory (have just named my puppy Digby and he gets called Digger some times)

Kit is also great, although as a previous poster said, Christopher might lead to 'Chris' or 'Topher' as NNs so be prepared in case it doesn't work out the way you want it to.

Not keen on Wilf/Wilfred.

ZolaBuddleia Fri 26-Jul-13 14:41:59

I also wouldn't risk Christopher, as I hate Chris and Topher is pretentious in the extreme. Love Kit though.

Diggory - how close is your relationship to the one you know? It's so unusual, might they feel a bit like you've copied? Agreed, Digger is ace.

Wilfred - I only like Wilf, but I REALLY like it.

JamieandtheMagicTorch Fri 26-Jul-13 17:18:37

Kit

Not Diggory. Awful (sorry, but I really think it's one of the worst names that has popped up on here)

Thirstysomething Fri 26-Jul-13 20:48:24

Wow, ouch. Didn't think I really cared what other people thought about names - personal choice and all that. But slightly blinking at that.
