I love ophilia nn felix

I have an Orla and my imaginary future ds is Arlo

Poppy03 Wed 21-Nov-12 23:03:15

Is Winifred (Winnie) considered posh?

manicinsomniac Wed 21-Nov-12 23:09:32

Another one for Araminta nn Minty here

Also love Arabella no nn and Montgomery nn Monty

scarlettsmummy2 Wed 21-Nov-12 23:14:32

Monty is great! If I ever have a boy I will have to add it to the short list.

LiviaAugusta Wed 21-Nov-12 23:29:55

I quite like Bartholomew nn Tolly. That and Rufus were my favourites if DC2 had been a boy, DH well and truly vetoed them though sad.

poppy - it's a nickname for Victoria. I have only heard it used by posh people.

Ulysses Thu 22-Nov-12 09:12:46

I like Sebastian and Allegra. My Scottish accent just doesn't work with either though!

Rupert

Araminta

Ds2's middle name is Rupert. Middle names are a false hope. We never use it, I love it.

lakeofshiningwaters Thu 22-Nov-12 09:17:04

I love Persephone and Seraphina - would nn both Seffy.

Neither would work with our rough and manly surname! Plus would never be able to convince DH.

MarshaBrady Thu 22-Nov-12 09:17:28

I might have to have another just so I can actually use Rupert. So lovely.

goralka Thu 22-Nov-12 09:19:03

Sholto - not that I would use it but it is fabulously posh

Whyriskit Thu 22-Nov-12 09:20:48

I love Ottilie and Tabitha. Also Jasper for a boy. DH says no.

I like Carenza, but not sure if it's posh or just regional

I used to like Cressida, Cress for short smile

ChestnutsRoastingonaWitchesTit Thu 22-Nov-12 09:25:16

Celia
Margot
Cordelia

Arthur
Bartholomew
Rufus

Wallison Thu 22-Nov-12 09:34:58

Beatrice. Although really what I like about it is the Spanish way of pronouncing it ('Bay-a-treece'), so that doesn't work in the UK.

Also Hermione. Loved it for years, way before Harry 'bloody' Potter.

TessOfTheBaublevilles Thu 22-Nov-12 09:56:01

Cressida nn 'Cressy'

MerryMarigold Thu 22-Nov-12 10:00:59

My kids have 'posh' alter egos when they get dressed up:
ds1 is Rufus
ds2 is Hugo
dd is Luciana

MerryMarigold Thu 22-Nov-12 10:01:19

(Their real names are not posh. I hate posh names)

Henrietta, Hettie, Rupert, Bertie . Ony one of mine has a posh name though sad

FrostyTheShosheman Thu 22-Nov-12 10:08:35

Cordelia just love it

WhoWhatNow Thu 22-Nov-12 10:12:41

Julian - I went to school with a girl whose brother was called this - we all thought it was the poshest name ever grin

Xiaoxiong Thu 22-Nov-12 10:16:51

Sefton, Horatio, Magnus and Vere (some of DH's students).

One for CheerfulYank - I went to university with Lowell Cabot Putnam IV.

frantic51 Thu 22-Nov-12 10:26:32

Flavia and Tarquin grin

Pasiphae Thu 22-Nov-12 10:54:51

My posh choice would be:

Brunhilda nn Hildy and Perceval nn Percy.

Pasiphae Thu 22-Nov-12 10:56:21

Or maybe Hortensia (Orty) and Rudyard (Rudy).
