It goes, knives, forks, spoons, knives, forks, spoons....

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/01/2010 18:46

It always has
Knives, forks, spoons..... always

AI therefore BU to be irritated beyond belief that when DH unloads the sodding dishwasher that he cannot get it right? He always puts them in random places in our cutlery tray, but never knives, forks, spoons

I suspect he does it like this so that I stop asking him to do it, but we have been together for 15 years!

Knives, forks, spoons or AIBU?!!

yanbu

my dh refuses to segregate the cutlery whilst putting it in the dishwasher. Equally annoying, I feel...

YABVU. It goes (from left to right):
forks, knives, spoons.

Knives go to the right of forks and spoons to the right of knives, just as they do when you're laying a table. Unless you're a southpaw.

Ours are all mixed up in the draw, but we've survived so far.

Report
MrsBadger · 19/01/2010 18:51

you segregate cutlery when loading the dishwasher?
madness

(and we have enough cutelry that there is usually one left in each section of the drawer so you can tell what goes where)

NomDePlume · 19/01/2010 18:51

I have no farking idea what order our cutlery is in in the drawer.

OtterInaSkoda if you go (L-R) forks, knives, spoons, then that is all wrong, sorry but there it is....

it must go... knives, forks, spoons or you will end up with the wrong tool for the job. Fact.

Um forks knives spoons here

Would not be at all impressed if DH bunged em in willy nilly.

Report
verylittlecarrot · 19/01/2010 18:55

MrsB, of course! that way you just lift them all out and plonk them in the drawer already organised. Why else would your cutlery basket have seperate compartments?

Saves literally, ooh, seconds of housework

You are all BU.

It goes forks and blades of little food whizzer thing; spoons, ribbon and Sellotape, knives, teaspoons and any utensil made of wood.

ImSoNotTelling - you are on the same planet as me!! unlike others (OtterInaSkoda) who end up eating soup with a fork.

it must go... knives, forks, spoons

Forks, knives, spoons here

Dh throws them in randomly though. I'm sure it is deliberate on his part so that I say 'no, no, let me do it'.

Report
Littlefish · 19/01/2010 18:57

Definitely (left to right), knives, forks, spoons. That way, I can shave milli-seconds off our morning routine by not having to open the cutlery draw fully, and still getting the correct implement out without having to look.

Print out and laminate some outline images - of a steak knife for the steak knife section, grapefruit spoon for the grapefruit spoon section, cake fork for the cake fork compartment etc. Use these to line the base of your cutlery tray. It is the only solution.

Forks to the right of spoons? In a right-handed household?

Bugger foul language - here is why our society is in crisis.

Report

Knives, forks, spoons = the natural order of things.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/01/2010 19:06

Good idea OtterInaSkoda I have a home laminater.

Then I could move on to pants, vests, socks

I am glad there are so many like minded souls here, there is nothing OCD about this, but there is only one right system and that is ,.....

Knives, forks, spoons
Knives, forks, spoons
Knives, forks, spoons
Knives, forks, spoons
Knives, forks, spoons
Knives, forks, spoons

and quite frankly, nothing else will do

ShrinkingViolet · 19/01/2010 19:08

my cutlery tray is the other way round, so we have knives, forks spoons from back to front. And the long handled teapsoons (might be dessert sppons actually) go in the remaining section at theright hand side.
Utensils drawer is random "throw it in and hut it quickly before everythign explodes"

RatherBeOnThePiste · 19/01/2010 19:08

MrsJohnDeere Are we in fact married / partnered with the same man?

I am sure this is DH's ploy, but I am not giving in
