To think that this week, as court decides what the legal definition of a woman is, that the Scottish Government (and others) aren't fit for purpose?

The meaning of what a woman is, is supposedly being hammered out in court this week.
How many of you know we are being reclassified this week?

"If the Supreme Court rules that a man can become a woman because he declares it to be so - and vice versa - then the sex-based protections provided by the Equality Act will become meaningless.
After all, how does one protect - or even begin to consider - the rights of women if to be a woman is nothing more than a feeling?"

YANBU - To think that this week, as court decides what the legal definition of a woman is, that the Scottish Government aren't fit for purpose and neither is anyone else in senior positions who can't understand why biology is important.

YABU - Gender identity is more important than the sex based rights of women. Woman is an idea and anyone can identify as one.

There are women, and there are men dressed as women. The end.

Glamourreader · 26/11/2024 08:34

I can't believe we've reached this level of stupid.

BodyKeepingScore · 26/11/2024 08:36

Noteworthy that what a "man" is has never been up for debate...

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/11/2024 08:39

In case they’re not sure, poor things, I can tell them that a woman is an Adult Human Female. Will three words be too much to take in?

Seriously how has it come to this?

WandsOut · 26/11/2024 09:08

We've gotten here by a few "hidden" pathways trodden by stealth trans activists who have now gained enough power to attack the meaning and reality of the basic building blocks of life - when you can deconstruct biological sex and have people go along with you - you can get people to do anything you want.

I hope the Supreme Court will see sense and realise that sex based rights need protecting.

porridgecake · 26/11/2024 09:17

I am amazed that this isn't being discussed anywhere today. (Well, not really).

Easypeelersareterrible · 26/11/2024 09:18

It’s ridiculous on so many levels, but the thought that to some men women are just a hairstyle, a style of dressing, a feminine name - it’s just so reductive. Women are so more than that, and men can never be women, they can never be the ‘so much more’. Women can dress in a male style, call themselves Sam and have short hair and STILL BE A WOMAN.

That Bud Light advert shows 100% how men don’t understand what it is to be a women, and how insulting and degrading it is to see Dylan whathisname parody us.

I hope the Scottish Government get laughed out of court in 5 mins. It would certainly restore my faith in humanity.

Because women don't matter enough to tell us what is happening that will affect our safety for the foreseeable future.
We don't actually matter.
We only matter when we are getting in the way of men's fetishes and then it's just to crush our rights.

Women who speak out about it are vilified in the press like JK Rowling.

Every paper in the land should have this on the front page.

Agree 100%.

FupaTrooper · 26/11/2024 09:44

It is terrifying. Actually terrifying.

We all know men commit over 98% of violent and sexual crimes... But soon it will look like a heck of a lot of "women" are doing it too.. Stats will be muddied entirely.

Causes for our safety will become obsolete. There will be no space anywhere other than our own homes where there will not be a man present.

Jails, bathrooms, hospitals, changing rooms...

This is active oppression of women's rights and the people doing it are no better than those in Afghanistan.

Men have less to defend. For most men - "man = not women" is acceptable as a definition.

JKR spot on as always. The ratio on the Amnesty post gives me some hope that the tides are turning.

It’s dystopian that a court can erase our entire existence with a legal fiction. There will be nothing left for women.

Fighting all the way to the supreme court. Thwarted and bullied all the way by men and their handmaidens.

Do you mean women who are in favour of their definition in law being re-written and their right to protection from predatory men being erased? I imagine they will be safe in their large, comfortable homes with their secure wealth, and probably won't trouble themselves to watch the news so they won't be aware of the rise in sexual violence and the murder of women and girls, or what's going on in Afghanistan and won't hear about this either.

I don't think there'll be that many of them though.

It is WOMEN who brought the case to a hearing. Many of us have not been taking this lying down.
