AIBU?

That DH went for a swedish massage and ended up with a stiffy?

namechanged due to sheer embarrassment. The company he works for paid for all empoyees to visit a health club, this included use of the Gym, sauna, steam room etc, plus they could choose one treatment. He chose a sweedish massage. This is the first time he has had a massage and ended up having an errection . I feel really upset about it and I don't really know why. I know it's not the crime of the century but I guess it mean he was attracted to the therapist and she was 10+ years younger than me (according to him). GRRRRRRRRR .

YABU. It's hardly surprising is it? Lying naked/nearly naked with someone rubbing scented oil all over you?!

Think you're being mean to him.

I think he was daft for telling you. give him a massage yourself and get one back!

Men get erections from the vibrations on a bus and all sorts, you know. Anything can set the little fella off!!

An erection is an entirely natural reaction to a body massage as far as I'm aware, whether the the masseuse was a hottie or some uberbutch bloke. Not his fault, poor man, so yes YABU (unless he's using it to wind you up and upset you, then he's a git for that)

it means nothing of the sort. im doing a holistic therapies course which includes swedish massage and the massage stimulates the whole body.

it is a physiological not sexual reaction to stimulus and is to do with blood and hormones being moved around the body rather than attraction.

lulumama · 11/01/2008 19:25

does not mean he was attracted to her at all

do you think he would have told you otherwise

blowing all this out of proportion, IMO

just a physiological reaction, does not mean he wanted to shag her

She was a babe (according to him). I think you are right he was winding me up. He does seem to get errections very easily mind you.

what upsets you the most about this?

Report
mrsruffallo · 11/01/2008 19:25

Why are you upset?
I think this happens to most men and I don't think they need to find the masseur particularly attractive.
IMO YABU for being upset with him (if that's what you mean)

honestly, you are taught about "male reactions to massage" and it is stressed that it has nowt to do with sex.

I can only assume that this is a hoax but if it isn't...
I cannot believe that you would be bothered by this.
Lying semi naked being rubbed and having tension released......he was bound to have an erection.

To be honest I reckon the masseur could have been an 80 year old bloke and his bits would still have got jiggy with it.
Seriously reeeeelax it's natural.

I thought most places (reputable ones) didn't do female to male massages

lissielou - do you get very embarrassed when a man gets an errection during treatment, or not at all? It's just i have aromatherapy massage once a month and it doesnt turn me on so why does it turn men on?

mercy, its perfectly ok to give men massages, you just dont go as high (or low) as you would with a woman

hunnyisabunny, it is embarassing, but you know that it has nothing to do with you or your attractiveness. you either stop or alter your routine

Why don;t you take a massage course and give him a treat (IYSWIM) or Valentine's Day?

Report
OracleInaCoracle · 11/01/2008 19:35

as your body is massaged it increases blood flow, and sacretions of hormones. in men this causes an erection. they arent particularly turned on (although it is nice) its just movement of blood and hormones. thats why you feel a bit woozy afterward
