She is about to go into year nine (13-14 year olds) at a new secondary. She has sen and is quite young for her age.

She really wants this www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/3687365.htm but aibu to be a bit worried they will think it babyish? I think the cool bag sticker comes off so just the actual bag I think.

I understand your concerns but I don't think it's right to tell a child that they should base their decisions on whether other people will laugh at them or not.

It's just a little satchel, what's babyish about it?

Not babyish at all Confused I think it's fab!

I can't see anything wrong with it.

Ask her what the other kids have?
It doesn't look overly childish to me because I have one Grin Blush

But maybe some of her friend have them and she wants to fit in

I'm not at secondary school (am 39) but I think it's nice. I thought it was going to be a zip up lunchbox with powerpuff girls or something! (although that sounds cool too). I understand your concern though, it was all about a plain tupperware when I was at school, and my dad didn't understand why an old icecream tub that had something like 'green beans' or 'chicken stock' written on it in freezer pen wouldn't do!

I am asking as they all seem to just have plain plastic boxes at her current school. She really struggles socially and has had a rotten time with bullying this year so I am overly worried I guess about not giving them anything to target her with as she stands out as different enough Sad

It looks fine to me - it's just a pink lunch bag as far as i can see (I think the images etc are on a removable bit of card) It's while since I had a 13/14yr old, but my DD would have been happy with that. She was also maybe a little young for her age compared with some 13 yr olds - but plenty of her friends were too.

I'd let her have it if she likes it.

I too think it looks great. If she likes it then let her have it.

I really like that one!
At 13 even things like Winnie the Pooh, can be cool again.

I'd happily use it too Grin I have a little pink stripey one.

I think it is just fine, let her have it.

It's lovely, not babyish at all. I'm 28 and would happily use it Smile

My daughter has this with a plain plastic box inside (because she makes a bloody mess with yoghurt rubbish). It's bright - but teenagers seem to like that (based on driving past the teenage throng at a local comp). One of the few uniform free areas they have at that school.

I think it's a great pink satchel that any kid should love.
I also know that my 11YO (just had 2 weeks transition at senior school) DD has put her black version of that cool bag satchel away and opted for a plastic box tucked in her school bag based on what 'everyone else in the school' uses.
Is having a separate lunch bag practical for carrying from lesson to lesson?

DD (11, just about to go into Y7) has begged me for one of those in purple because her current Paperchase one is 'for babies' and the satchel is far more 'adult' and what all the senior kids have. So I think with the sticker removed it'd be fine :)

This is her current one, which I'm pinching, as I think it's fab... :o

Sorry OP I think it's hideous.

Hideous?

It's a plain pink bag!

I think that the pics are just removeable cardboard as a pp said.

removeable card?

If it were purple leather I'd be wanting it as a handbag!
