I've always felt a bit smug when there are floods because our house is on top of a hill....well not tonight. I sleep in the attic bedroom, and it is shaking like fuck up here. Should I do something or just ignore ? Its an old house, so I'm hoping guessing its managed to stay up this long....Confused

Mine is the same. We're an end of terrace on top of a hill and the noise if the wind is unbelievable. I quite like it though, it feels very dramatic.

It's so bad here too, I can't sleep. I hate the wind, scares me silly, the roof is making some awful noises so I've got up.

It feels like its shaking but I don't think it really is, or at least not that much. I can't sleep either.

Me too. I'm at the top of a hill, mid terrace a street away from some woods. I have images of trees crashing through my roof.

The noise from the wind around my chimney is keeping me awake. Sounds like an injured dog howling.

Up here, with the noise of the wind with 2 out of 3 children awake. Trampoline has blown across the garden (it is a goner). Roof has blown of the playhouse. Ugh.

I'm in a hospital working and all the doors are rattling, the wind is howling up the corridors. It's very spooky!

Don't envy anyone in a caravan, keep safe. I Have awful memories of childhood holidays lying awake frightened the caravan would be toppled over in the wind. It never did.

I live in a top floor flat and something woke me up half an hour ago. It sounds like a plate being dragged along a worktop so I went to investigate in the kitchen because I thought the cats might be up on the counters, but no the sound is coming from the roof. The winds are howling too and I'm supposed to be waking up in under an hour for work Angry

I usually sleep through storms, so would you say this is a particularly bad one ? Or is it because I happen to be awake ??

Another one who can't sleep! I've just come downstairs as its a little quieter, but due to having boxes everywhere there is no floor space and our sofa is a tiny tiny two seater so I can't get comfy to fall asleep! [cry] We have an old tree in our back garden that we can't afford to get cut down and every time there is wind I get so scared of it blowing over!

I'm up too, have decamped to the sofa and switched on the TV to try to mask the noise.
I'm terrified of the wind - always have been.
Next door have a loose drainpipe and the sound of it banging and rattling is driving me to distraction!

North Oxon here. It is terrifying, I have never heard wind like it. I can hear things being thrown around in the loft, I dread to think what the garden will look like. DD and DPup are both awake. Been awake since 2.50, desperately need sleep
