I think she's lovely and so caring.

I didn't see Benefits Street (just some clips of it) but I was expecting her to be some sort of dragon.

And the unreasonable part in this thread is......?

BBQSteak · 23/08/2014 23:10

down to earth with a good sense of humor, doesn't take herself too seriously, can laugh at herself

@ mytitiferssungtheirsong.......you...... Wink

She seems really nice, I didn't think I was going to like her purely because she looks exactly like someone I know who is awful Blush

I really like her. I think it's awful how people keep bashing her for being on benefits when she isn't even on them anymore and was legitimately on them in the first place!

whenever I've seen her being interviewed she comes across as very well balanced and composed aswell

I haven't seen CBB, but I saw Benefits St and her 'Mother Hen' qualities were quite clear.

She comes across well and they all seem to gravitate towards her without her pushing herself out there.
Slightly off topic why was Audley upset?

Jaysus.

Let me rephrase that for you OP in order to untwist knickers.

AIBU to think White Dee seems like a really nice person?

I Watched benefits street and I watched that panel thing she was on and I think she is actually a very intelligent woman. I don't watch big brother but I wish her all the luck Smile

Ok genuine question here, was White Dee found guilty for claiming benefit fraudulently?

Steve Allen on LBC has just said she's a "benefit cheat", to the tune of £30K so isnt he on very shakey ground accusing an innocent person on national radio?

If what he says is a lie, then I'd be happy to write to LBC and demand that he apologises.

I sense LBC will ignore me, I was only just thinking he comes out with massively bigotted comments these days with nobody 'calling him' on them, but because he gets high listening figures, they dont reign him in.

I may be wrong but I don't think she was a cheat at all. She claimed benefits fair and square. She was suffering from depression following a bereavement and claimed benefits from that point of view. Lots of people have argued she doesn't seem to have depression as she's been out and about lots and managed to appear in different tv programmes etc.

Personally I think people don't understand depression. It's very easy for someone to put on a smile for an hour a day and to be able to say no I don't want to do anything more than it is to hold down a permanent job where your family depends on the income. I've lost several jobs myself to depression previously.

And it seems she has made a slow recovery - she is not claiming benefits anymore and wasn't at the end of the series even though she had no idea how much she would earn from the publicity etc.

I don't watch cbb so i cant comment on what shes like on there. I watched benefit street though and sometimes she came across as lovely, very mother hen and intelligent. Other times she was absolutely vile. But im well aware of clever tv editing so ill give her the benefit of doubt.
agree she came across brilliantly on that politics show!

What programme is CBB, please?

I believe she was sacked for embezzlement to the tune of £13,000. And now she is feted.

Didn't she steal money from her job to pay for her partners drug debts?

I didn't watch Benefit st but have seen her a few times in CBB ....she seems the most sensible polite and intelligent contestant by far.

Report
tittifilarious · 24/08/2014 08:21

Oh you mean that the tv programme designed and edited to stir up hatred against benefit claimants might have actually been skewed to create hate figures as the faces of Benefits Britain and the main "character" isn't actually as appalling she was made out to be?

Well now, what a shocker.

YANBU.
