To not want nor agree with fucking douching or moisturising MY OWN Vag.

I can't go anywhere nor watch TV without being reminded that I 'Should' be doing one of/both and I'm getting slightly pissed off with this severely outdated information.
Dr's recommend it here shock Half of pharmacies are taken up with feminine products such as Provag gel - moisturiser for your vagina (WTAF?) and floraVag - to purify your vagina hmm I'm getting leaflets in the mailbox and even got given one on a visit to the cinema ffs!
Final straw today was in the pharmacy - the assistant asked if I'd like to buy some on promotion so I told her I didn't use it and didn't want to cause myself thrush and she looked at me like I'd just told her I ate newborn babies confused
If my translation of language would have allowed I'd have also informed her that my own Gynaecologist and GP both advise against using anything other than gentle soap on the outside - so thank you very much but my vag is capable of cleaning itself, is clean and hygenic, doesn't smell and I manage perfectly well without FloraVag.
Rant over grin

You don't need to clean inside the vagina w/ anything. However washing the perineum, Vulva and Perianus with a mild cleaning agent is advised. And ensure you wash front to back.

I had a Bartolin's cyst and couldn't sit properly til it burst. It was about the size of a large marble then. I have been very careful since.

As a teenager, I sprayed the outside of the vag area during a period and it made me scream in agony. Never did that again.
I read that vaginal douching was unnecessary as it cleaned itself.

Nevermind, I read the whole thread and got my answer!

Can I just check - when we say 'don't wash your vagina with anything but water' are we talking actual vagina, or the entire area? I don't use soap internally, but I think you have to wash the general undercarriage don't you?

"I wonder if there's an equivalent Willy Wash that men are encouraged to use "

If I recall a range of men's intimate wipes is now available, called Wingman if I recall. So it seems the marketeers are targetting smelly willies as well as whiffy minges.

I can't read "yog" without thinking of George Michael.

Can we stick to the full "yoghurt" please?

<bossy face>

valiumredhead Fri 04-Oct-13 16:18:38

Yes it certainly does, natural yog is fab stuff.

TheCrumpetQueen Fri 04-Oct-13 16:15:38

Ok thanks for that. I just meant that yoghurt soothes thrush

Canesten doesn't contain probiotics. It contains an anti fungal, lubricant and preservatives

CuChull yes, something young boys need advising about. Uncircumcised penises are especially vulnerable to irritation around the glans and meatus because they are the epithelial layer isn't as toughened up (No horny layer of skin cells form grin). Old soap residue gets into the meatus (where the urine comes out of) and irritates.

valiumredhead Fri 04-Oct-13 14:28:02

Cantspel-odd mix of fascination and waves of nausea grin

SkodaLabia Fri 04-Oct-13 14:22:54

Have just googled.

"I wonder if there's an equivalent Willy Wash that men are encouraged to use "

Not yet, but I am sure it is in development and will be advertised in 'Men's Health' soon.

Most blokes just use shower gel, but even then we have to be a bit careful as some soaps/gels can be a bit aggresive and cause skin irritations. I had an awkward moment a few years ago when the end of my knob became incredibly sensitive and I had to go and see the cock doctor who reassured me that is was not serious and fairly common. Gave me a big tub of cream to use for a few weeks and told me to change my soap. Trying to explain that one to Mrs CuChullain was a bit embarassing.

Sometimes the cyst wall requires lancing to stop it filling up again.

Valium They grow to the most enormous sizes and I have seen photographs of Bartholin Cysts the size of a large orange. Usually they burst or get drained before then. It can depend where you are in your Menstrual cycle too as to how big they grow as the clear discharge they produce is hormonally governed.

cantspel Fri 04-Oct-13 14:14:46

Yes a hens egg not a little birds egg. I have never seen so much puss and the sac then i could pull the sac out like a bit of deflated ballon.

Mine burst before the doctor got to cut it out. I was in so much pain waiting for the appointment i put magnesium sulphate on it which made it burst itself. I wouldn't recommend anyone put magnesium sulphate on the inside of their fanjo but these things are so painful you will try anything.

Do you feel sick yet?

valiumredhead Fri 04-Oct-13 14:08:38

Size of an egg? <faints>shock

TheCrumpetQueen Fri 04-Oct-13 14:08:04

Didnt mean it had the exact same ingredients

TheCrumpetQueen Fri 04-Oct-13 14:07:41

It has probiotics and good bacteria that soothe thrush, really helped with symptoms like itching

mignonette Fri 04-Oct-13 14:05:20

They are arent' they Cant. They make you feel very ill if they get infected and need surgically draining. Nasty things.

cantspel Fri 04-Oct-13 13:51:32

my cysts were just inside the opening of the vagina and my biggest one got to the size of an egg before it burst itself and river of smelly puss was released.

The cyst made me feel like i had flu and the pain from it stopped me sitting but as soon as it burst i felt 100% better. Horrible things

mignonette Fri 04-Oct-13 13:44:02

They are not inside the Vagina. They are Vestibular meaning they are inside the vault formed by the joining of the Labia Minora. If you do not take care shaving, their ability to free drain can become compromised by infection and swelling.

mignonette Fri 04-Oct-13 13:42:05

The Barthoilin Glands are on either side of the Vaginal Opening in the Vestibular region (behind the small labia). They secrete the fluids that lubricate the region. They can become blocked naturally forming a sterile cyst. Sometimes this gets infected. However this particular case happened because of the patient shaving the labia and accidentally nicking herself. The swelling and infection blocked the glands. They make a lot of fluid so swell to enormous proportions if blocked or infected.

cantspel Fri 04-Oct-13 13:40:45

batholin glads are inside the vagina so i dont see how shaving the outside is going to cause them.

I have had 2 batholin cysts at different times of my life both times i had not shaved.
