getting deordarant for 10 yr old

What age would you let your DC wear deordarant and which is best - she is nearly 10 and just starting to "smelly" sweat :)

I'm yr 5 teacher (don't have any children .... yet!) and some of them are starting to smell a bit and do use deoderant, the only thing I don't like are the boys who insist on using aerosols and fill the classroom with it!

I buy my dd the new Sanex one with the green cap, which is I think iirc aluminium free. Before that came out, she used Bionsen. She has been using deodorant for at least the past 12 months, possibly longer. She is 10 years 4 months.

Strongly suggest you buy an unperfumed antiperspirant/deoderant.

We got Unperfumed Sure For Men for DS1 when he was 10. It works and doesn't pollute the atmosphere with a caustic artificial perfume stink.

My dd uses Bionsen. Aluminium and paraben free. I use it too.

Would start using one when they start to smell! DD1 was 9, DD2 was 10.

I would suggest you just pick one brand to use, it will save you pounds as you can buy it when its on offer and you don't end up with bathroom cupboards full of half used cans

Would not use an antiperspirant at this age, but just a deodrant. We started DD with a deodrant in the form of a coconut scented powder from Lush.

My 11 year old uses an antiperspirant spray [superdrug pink]. I use the superdrug rollon and have always found it very good.

I got dd1 a roll on last summer because she was getting a bit whiffy. I also talked to her about washing under her arms everyday with a flannel, especially if it's warm or she has been especially active. I also got her her own pump shower gel which ds1 has now started to use.

I have just today brought some for my 8yo - literally in a matter of weeks he has gone from running around, getting sweaty and smelling fine to running around, getting sweaty and stinking.
He is 8yo, my little boy, and he needs deodorant.

Thank you so much, think we'll both take a look in Boots and get something for her. She'll think she's all grown up and BADROLY, i think you're right, now would be a good time to have a talk to her about this and puberty side of things

If a child is sweating and smelling they need deodorant, not a body spray. They are too young for anti-perspirant.

When DS's class went away early Year 6 the teachers asked for them to be sent with a deodorant.
DS didn't even get his flannel wet, had water-only showers ( squalid little bugger) but luckily he doesn't niff yet.I can say hand-on-heart without any maternal bias.

When we camped last year my DS (year 6) took it upon himself to wear the same t-shirt for the two weeks we were away. He didn't smell at the end of the fortnight!

I think mine were about 10.

Unfortunately they both use aerosols as they reckon they don´t like the "sticky" feeling of a roll on, and I haven´t managed to convince them about a "stick" one yet

my daughter just turned 11 i bought her some roll on when she turned 10 she didnt need it yet but just to get her use to the idea.
