AIBU?

To think that trolling is funny?

I am new here so bare with me. So I am a member of another parenting site and tbh its only good when a shit stirrer comes on. Its so boring otherwise. I have lovely friends on the site but omg its dead unless a troll comes on. They all moan about the troll, start new threads up about the troll and people then joke and have a laugh on the trolls behalf iykwim. I can't help it but like the troll that starts something because its when all get together. Maybe I am talking shite here but thats how I see it.

Thank you for replies.

Sometimes it's funny.
Sometimes it's not.
So, sort of.

Sometimes the subjects they troll on can be very emotive and people who have genuine grief or have been dealt a difficult hand in life give advice and time to someone they then find out is doing it for the kick.

Talking shite and drawing perhaps vulnerable people in are totally different.

Having seen the awful consequences of the worst sort of trolling on some of the more sensitive topics here (including relating to the loss of children), I think YABVU.

Trolls like that suck the emotions and most intimate, personal stories from other people who are just hoping to support them. They leave people distraught when their betrayal is revealed.

However, you are not alone in your reaction, the trolls probably have a good laugh too.

Some trolls are funny but to be honest I prefer funny/grumpy/uppity regs who aren't afraid to say what they say in a name everyone recognises them in.

Even if I don't agree with what they're saying, at least they've got the bollocks to say it without name changing or trolling.

No honestly I am new. This is my first thread to post. I have only posted about 2 replies on another thread. This place seems so busy compared my normal site so its kinda scary lol. But I had to ask here to see what you all think because if I was honest on the other site then I would most likely be in trouble.

I agree with you sometimes, however trolling can be nasty and lead to some very serious hurt,

This other site wouldn't happen to begin with a B would it?

if trolls are the funniest thing that happen on the other site then "Welcome" tis fun here with joviality that extends past taking money by deception and emotional fraud.

First thread on MN and you post about trolling?

FAIL.

Report
FlaminGreatGallah · 07/05/2011 22:10

MN is good anyway. No need for "shit-stirrers" or trolls IMO because members are funny, informative and entertaining enough to keep the boards interesting.

i think on this forum people tend to shout trolls when another poster gives an opinion they dont agree with because its so easy to switch from name to name

compared with other forums, its really tame on here, some posters would have a coronary if they came face to face with a real serious troll lol

to be quite honest, they do liven a forum up

There was an amazing troll thread many moons ago about finding DH 'pleasuring' himself over stainless steel kitchen implements. All delivered in real time from her garage office (OMG he's coming, what do I say? That kind of thing!). I still remember it now as I actually wet myself laughing!!!!

It was a regular though and she came clean eventually. There was no harm in that, but when you discover that someone you're offering support to isn't genuine, it's really hurtful. Kind of sad to think that someone would get their kicks that way, tragic really.

These trolls do not cause tears to others they just talk about stupid things. Don't get me wrong, the really hurtful ones I do not find funny at all. I mean they come on in a light hearted way. Some take offence to it and some don't but the ones tat don't like it make sure they voice their opinion and make that troll feel very small etc. But it makes the popcorn pop and everyone to come together and just have a laugh. I hope I am making sense. Sorry if I am not. Its hard to explain.
