Redactle - THE HINTS THREAD

Given how difficult it is to offer hints for redactle, without giving it away/being too obvious, this is a specific thread for hints.

Doesn't mean that they should give the game away, but it just stops other players seeing the hint every time they access the main thread.

So from now on, just keep your stats and general comments on the main thread and come here for any hints!

I think we probably should preface clues with a couple of lines of blah to avoid inadvertent sightings in active convos etc on the browser.

We could use this thread for both perhaps, just say which a request for help or a clue relates to?

Saying which puzzle the clue is for would take most of a line of text, thus killing two birds with one stone.

I just use reddit :)

I use reddit too - but sometimes posters just give the answer away. I'd rather have a hint so that I can work it out for myself! (And because you have to click on a redacted word, you don't always know if it's going to be a complete spoiler or just a hint)

IME posters on MN are much better at hinting!

The hint:

The further you go down the text the more likely you are to see/find/guess words that might distract you from the actual subject/title!

I had to resort to hints and then google!

It's my bloody subject (or was 40 years ago) and I've still only got in word of the title

Loads of the punctuation is redacted.

I studied the field (admittedly a long time ago) and still took an embarrassingly long time to figure it out.

The title is all words that people generally know, even though the further you get through the article the more niche it gets.

The second word is the most unusual as most lay people end it with -y but it has a different ending for nerds.

Anyone else getting a security message saying redactle is not safe today?
