Which one do you have? Would you recommend it? Do you still use it or is it gathering dust?
Dp has made recent murmurings about one of these, I don't drink coffee and he never really drinks it at home as the cafetière thing is a bastard to wash.
Any wise words? Xmas Smile

i like our Nespresso machine, we're on our 3rd one so they do wear out or break - usually after the 2 year warranty has expired - yet still we buy them. The coffee is good and lots of variety.

I've got a Tassimo. Absolutely love it. Use it every day. Would definitely recommend it

Ooh i was after suggestions too please. For pils who like Kenco and Douwe Egberts. Nearest I found was a Philips Senseo but that doesn't seem to be available now.

We have a Krups. It was bought for me as a Christmas present as dh is not that bothered about coffee.

I would say in a house fire I would save my kids, my pets and then my Krups coffee machine. I love it to death and use it every day without fail for 1 coffee. That coffee is usually the highlight of my day Smile.

DH has owned 5 branded coffee machines and ditched them after a few months then swapped it for another model/brand. He now has a Nespresso machine and he adores it. It's lasted a good year and he still uses in daily and has no intention of swapping it. So, I'd go straight for a Nespresso machine.

For me nespresso is the best, especially if you're a plain coffee drinker rather than latte/ fancy ones. I love the lidl pods which work out very cheap too. I used to have a tassimo which was ok but my machine broke quickly and the coffee wasn't amazing.

Our Nespresso is gathering dust at the moment - I feel guilty about the effect of single serving coffee pods on the environment. I should have realised this before I bought it of course Sad.

Love my tassimo. Got it a couple of years ago for only £35 thanks to a Christmas bargain thread. this I use it several times daily, I don't drink any other coffee, I buy my pods from Amazon. If/when it ever stops working, I will definitely get another. I love this model as it has a large water tank.

We have nespresso. The pods can be recycled. Our machine is 6 years old and has just started to leak occasionally.

I think I'll look into the nespresso, thankyou!
My kids like whittards hot chocolate made by heating milk in a pan, I don't drink hot drinks.
Just for coffee for dp. We have a rule of nothing on the kitchen sides (apart from the kettle which I would happily ditch!) but We have some lovely deep built in shelves in the dining area with cookbooks, fruitbowl and candles etc where it could go.
Thankyou!
Oh, one last thing, silly question, can they do espresso?

I have a Tassimo, I love it and I have one at work too. I by Costa Americano pods from Amazon on the subscribe and save. The price varies but you get five packs of 16 pods for between £15 and £17. I couldn't drink instant again.

Love my tassimo & John Lewis were excellent when it broke a couple of weeks short of end of warranty period. Replacement machine & refund of price difference between original & new machine

Ha, DH is on his 3rd Nespresso (think current one is actually De Longhi ) and it is spot on that they break pretty much bang on the expiry of the warranty. However he has argued this and had the last two repairs done for free with a loan machine. I hate it though, so wasteful. Bean to cup is on the agenda when he has the cash. I don't drink coffee but he has 3-4 a day.

Oh god, have also looked at tassimo.
Why are there 38,000 types of bloody machine? It's probably going to be used on a Sunday morning when he watches match of the day while I have a lie in!

Tassimo do a fantastic range of pods. If your children like hot chocolate and you and your husband are coffee fans I'd definitely recommend it. The hot chocolate range on.its own is great

I think I saw something somewhere that actually the pods are not recyclable. Get an aeropress-much nicer coffee.

We have a Nespresso and love it. I would say you need it in the kitchen though, rather than a shelf in the dining area - there are invariably drips and splashes as you need to empty the capsules and drip tray regularly. Also you flush it through without a pod in so you need to empty that water away. We keep ours along the counter from the kitchen sink.

On the back of an earlier thread on here where someone buying for their PIL for Christmas I asked a couple of questions and on Black Friday I treated myself to a Nespresso U with aerocino and I LOVE it - coffee has been fab - easy to use and clean and I ordered a supply of coffee capsules yesterday afternoon and they arrived this lunchtime and with the recycling bag I ordered. So far nothing not to love.

Love my Tassimo, but on my second as the first one leaked. Great for hot chocolate for the kids too. I buy the pods in bulk when I find vouchers online.

Our Tassimo has been used as our daily treat for the last 2 y and we love it - lots of coffee choices and hot chocolates - just make sure which ever you buy has a decent size water tank ☕️

My first nespresso lasted 10 years - it was pretty much the first machine they did! I've just bought my second one and it's great too.

Recycling (even if it does happen) is an energy-intensive process though - it should be thought of as the last resort when reduce / re-use / replace categorically aren't possible.

I have a coffee dripper, it's great.

We've got a Tassimo

I've bought DS1 a Dulce Gusto for Christmas because he loves iced tea, as well as coffee, and you can do that in those.
