Would it be too much to have a thread on lovely tree decorations we have seen?

I need new tree decorations and have limited time to shop around.

Would a thread on lovely tree decorations been too much even for the Christmas thread?

Links much appreciated Grin

I fear there will be no Christmas tree this year due to kittens!
I'd love some ideas for other decorations they won't wreck (that means things I can out out of reach!)

Stuff and nonsense! That's all the more reason to put a tree up. I used to love watching the kittens climbing the tree and playing with the ornaments. Just don't put any glass ornaments on or leave them unsupervised. Go on. It's great fun and you'll get loads of really cute photos.

We never had a problem with kittens and a tree.

Avoid the tiny baubles that could be a choking hazard and if necessary avoid glass, or put glass higher up the tree. They will be more attracted to something reflective.

As above, supervise them.

We had kittens last year (they are adult cats now and will probably just sleep under the tree this year)

They were fine last year.

When we had our first kitten, we put tin foil down over the tree skirt for awhile (on advice from friends) and blown up balloons tied to the lower branches for about two weeks. It didn't like the feel of the tin foil and one or two balloon pops later, it wasn't horribly keen on the tree either. By the end of two weeks, we took them off, kitten didn't go near the tree.

Our second kitten didn't care and happily climbed the tree right to the top and stuck it's head out, looking like a kitten head ornament (and used to leap at you from the tree if you were stupid enough to walk too close to it). That was our kamikaze kitten. Xmas Grin

Have you checked out any of your local garden centres. Ours often have a good range with some more unusual items.

The range has lovely decorations. Not a tree one but I got a beautiful storm lantern with a Red star saying Happy Christmas and some dangly silver stars on for £3.99!

I had a mooch around Liberty but wasn't wildly impressed. I bought a cute glass pug decoration for DD, and they had other dogs too.
Waiting for our local Adrian Hall garden centre to reveal their Christmas offer, it's usually awesome.

I spent far too much in Matalan this morning. I had a 20% discount code which I think encouraged me to spend more rather than save Blush

My favourite purchase was the sign which says 'it's the most magical time of the year'. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Love the lit wreath from next.

Off to mooch round the range website.

We have a new kitten and was going for the 'supervised and maybe attach tree to the wall'

I'm loving the wall stickers. I got a lovely one the other year from the 99p shop and searched how and low for a similar one

Now I love all shiny and sophisticated but the DC love bright and fun. In a nod to Christmas being about children I've got a few of these to hide around the tree. If they are a hit I'm going to move them around the tree now and then for the kids to spot where they are now!

we went to Harrods recently and looked in Christmas land, one end was the Lux end, nothing great really bland colours and DD was dissapointed then we went to the cheaper end and it was bright colors and she was " ahhh for goodness sake this is more like it"

every year is an ever so slight tussle over the tree decs!

We were really impressed with the variety of ornaments at the Range last year. I'm looking forward to picking out a few more this year.

Love that Nativity set. I've been hankering after one for a while but as a non believer I thought it might be a bit odd - can't put my finger on why. They are so lovely though.

We have two trees for this exact reason - dc's aren't allowed anywhere near the one in the living room Xmas Grin
