And I think I've changed my mind. Please help me decide! I was set on red, white and green. A sort of nordic feel. Found some lovely thing (all our decorations went missing when we moved so we are starting afresh) but saw some fab plum and pale gold bits today. I really can't decide between the two. Please help!

Santa's arse is usually red, no? Grin

If it was me I would go for the plum and gold!

Plum and gold is great, we have that for one of our trees, but you might find it gets a bit restrictive and "samey", and difficult to add to over the years.
Our big tree ends up very traditional, and has evolved over about 20 years, and I love it! It's ended up this way completely by accident, but I make a point of buying something new for the tree every year, and because of how the colour scheme's ended up, I never have any problem finding something

I might just do mismatched. I've already bought some lovely red and white woolly ones, and red, white and green wooden and made a button garland with a nordic theme in mind... Its v nice having to start over, but its a bit hard too

We are lipstick red and vintage silver this yr, as I bought some bargain bits in the sales last yr. I saw a lovely scheme in December25th shop, bath, it was old gold colour with a kind of duck eggy turquoise, sounds horrid but it looked pretty.

If you have a base of white/silver/gold you can change the colour scheme yearly with ease. They go with everything.

eg, plum and white/silver
red/gold
green/red/silver
plum/gold.

If you fancy green, Homebase have some dark 'fir tree' green tree decs, nicer than the brilliant lime green. Would go nicely with your scandi decs.

Agree with quietly.

I have gold and cream and add a few bits and pieces every year. Sometimes red, one year I did copper with cream - that was lovely. Might do that this Year

Fuck. Why am I thinking about Xmas deco in November.

I blame Lissie Angry

I like the Nordic look, but I also like plum and gold...

Not helpful, I just wanted to say that I'm nicking "Santa's arse" as my festive expletive. Thanks.

I have white/silver/crystal decs as a "base" and then change the main colour every couple of years. It looked very striking with black but was quite modern/faddy. I think I'm going for a few teal/duck egg blue ones with it this year

I like you 2nd link lots Grin, we had red and green last year and will do the same this year, i like the traditional colours rather than the blues and purples, our house decoration is slightly shabby chic so the traditional decs look great.

We have a lovely garden center near by that has a huge christmas section, i can't wait to go and have a look at all the traditional dec's, dh has told me 'not to buy any more' but i like to buy at least one new thing each year to add to my collection Smile.

Marne, my DH doesn't mind about Christmas decs, as long as he doesn't have to do them! I could easily squeeze the odd extra thing in and he doesn't notice, as long as it isn't massive and very expensive. There are some soft silver (almost matt) baubles in Wilko's with frost patterns on them, I was thinking about getting a few and sticking tiny diamond type gems on them (leftover from a different project.) I usually have red and gold decs on a green tree, but was wondering if they might lighten it a bit (in colour I mean, the poor tree will be groaning under ornamentation as it is!)

Lissie, sorry about your decs. I'm thinking that the frosty baubles would go well with most of your ideas.

My tree started off being purples, glass and silvers and whites, all luxury OTT decs (thing giant feathers and glitter balls ) but with the addition of DS last christmas the tree ecocide into a bright colourful charade of santas and snowmen and gingerbread people and penguins with hats on etc GrinGrin

Looked ace! Can't wait to get them all out again this year!!

I chose my scheme as waitrose had packs of 20 baubles in those colours for £4 so bought 2 packs - matches with their wrapping paper ( on offer) and I will get some dusky pink wire edged ribbon to do bows on tree ...LOVE IT!

I used to go all silver/white so this year is just an extn of that.

The dc have their own artificial beautiful tree which they can put their tat beautiful decs on so I can go all sophisticated on mine!
