Morning!
I want to give a nod to Terry Pratchett when I re-name my new home (house currently has an awful name - think Daret - named after the owners, Darren and Janet.)
Is there a way of doing that without giving my house a ridiculous name?
So no to: Dunwitchin; Rincewind's Retreat; the Unseen University; Carrot's cottage; Detritus' Den etc Grin

Any thoughts?

I'm not convinced it's possible to do a nod to the great TP without it being a little silly.

Oooh Lilac cottage is good. No-one would even know it was a nod! I'll have to plant a lilac though Grin

Fish - I know what you mean, we won't name our house anything silly, just a nod that will make dh and I smile is what I wanted.

Thanks Smallbee. None quite hitting the right note but I'll keep thinking.

Maybe I'll call it 'Ook Cottage' then it could mean anything!

I agree, I think Lilac Cottage is the best so far. Love Ook cottage too!

It takes me back my teenage years when I was passionately campaigning my parents to call our new dog Errol. It didn't work unfortunately.

I love Sir T, may he continue forever in the overheads.. Have tried to encourage others into him and keep getting the 'is that not weird, role-play stuff' and this from avid GoT fans! Thread has cheered me up!

Lilac Cottage.

Or alternate periodically between the Mended Drum and the Broken Drum. Or the Mended/Broken Anything. Although I can see that might confuse people trying to find your house. Which you might consider fails one of the key functions for an address.

I'd be very tempted to go with 'the place where the sun does not shine ', given the weather. Or Lancre. Oooh, or Llamedos.

Oh I don't know Paffle. There are some people I wouldn't mind being unsure about where I live...

Llamedos Cottage, it's not obvious, it's a good tribute AND it's an insult all at once......

The seamstresses guild?!!!! My dh and DC are living here!

Oh I'm ashamed to say I don't recognise all the references - I've read all the discworld books, some of them more than once but I have a shocking memory Blush
