Morning!
I want to give a nod to Terry Pratchett when I re-name my new home (house currently has an awful name - think Daret - named after the owners, Darren and Janet.)
Is there a way of doing that without giving my house a ridiculous name?
So no to: Dunwitchin; Rincewind's Retreat; the Unseen University; Carrot's cottage; Detritus' Den etc grin

Any thoughts?

I'm not convinced it's possible to do a nod to the great TP without it being a little silly.

CMOTDibbler Wed 13-Apr-16 07:48:33

Lilac cottage?

DEATHsaidBOO Wed 13-Apr-16 07:52:15

Oooh Lilac cottage is good. No-one would even know it was a nod! I'll have to plant a lilac though grin

Fish - I know what you mean, we won't name our house anything silly, just a nod that will make dh and I smile is what I wanted.

And I was just going to suggest Dontgonearthecottage.... grin

Thanks Smallbee. None quite hitting the right note but I'll keep thinking.

Maybe I'll call it 'Ook Cottage' then it could mean anything!

SmallBee Wed 13-Apr-16 08:31:14

I agree, I think Lilac Cottage is the best so far. Love Ook cottage too!

It takes me back my teenage years when I was passionately campaigning my parents to call our new dog Errol. It didn't work unfortunately.

I love Sir T, may he continue forever in the overheads.. Have tried to encourage others into him and keep getting the 'is that not weird, role-play stuff' and this from avid GoT fans! Thread has cheered me up!

I'm just exploring the witches and guards so probably not much help

Lilac Cottage.

Or alternate periodically between the Mended Drum and the Broken Drum. Or the Mended/Broken Anything. Although I can see that might confuse people trying to find your house. Which you might consider fails one of the key functions for an address.

Nobby's nook
Colon's corner
Havelock House
Dibbler's Dwelling
The Bursar's Abode

None of the above but I can dream...halo

I'd be very tempted to go with 'the place where the sun does not shine ', given the weather. Or Lancre. Oooh, or Llamedos.

DEATHsaidBOO Wed 13-Apr-16 09:09:23

Oh I don't know Paffle. There are some people I wouldn't mind being unsure about where I live...

Zogthebiggestdragon Wed 13-Apr-16 09:09:32

The Twaddle Room? I'll stop now.

DanaBarrett Wed 13-Apr-16 09:10:27

Llamedos Cottage, it's not obvious, it's a good tribute AND it's an insult all at once......

DEATHsaidBOO Wed 13-Apr-16 09:10:50

<sniggers> The place where the sun does not shine <sniggers>

DEATHsaidBOO Wed 13-Apr-16 09:12:21

It is good but not sure MIL who lives in same village will forgive me!

DEATHsaidBOO Wed 13-Apr-16 09:12:48

Sorry - second post was about Llamedos

DEATHsaidBOO Wed 13-Apr-16 09:14:47

Right, I have to go and do RL stuff now, I'll see what other very sensible ideas you lot* have come up with when I get back.

*ook
