they will not be allowed any sugar or any fruit so no idea what you could offer? a selection of cheese?

Diabetic jelly and double cream.

Or zabaglione but you'd have to buy Canderel or similar.

Sweetner is okay but it goes savoury if you cook with it.

Alcohol not allowed but you'd get away with a little in food.

Berry fruit with cream or greek yoghurt. But really they shouldn't be eating anything. Could you provide some nice cheese instead?

Fruit isn't okay though is it? I didn't know you couldn't eat ANYTHING in that first 2 weeks 'cept cheese - I was doing it wrong, clearly!

When I was doing Atkins I used to make a little mousse - just use a sachet of that Rownstrees sugar free jelly crystals (I liked Raspberry best)- make it up and let it half set - then mix in some whipped cream - it's really really easy and yummy and could look quite "dinner-partyish" in a nice glass ?

I think it's very kind of you to be thinking about this by the way - I am sure they will apprecaite your support for their diet.

if this person is in there first two weeks of indcution, then they cant have any thing at all for desserts. not one of the suggestions mentioned! so it is up to them to stick tot he diet.
someone who has been doing it for a fe w months is different. they can have fruit and cream etc. but th e induction is sooo restrictive, itw wonderful!

mmm, make something with lots of berries, and cake, and cream, and chocolate. and mroe chocolate and cream, and yummy yummy stuff.

i'm currently on monthe three or is it four? of atkins. i still wouldnt touch any dessert at a dinner party, as i would probly have consumed enough carbs during them eal.

newlife - you are quite right. In the induction period they shouldn't be eating any fruit. But as it's a dinner party they might be prepared to stretch a point. Best option would be some nice cheese, perhaps some celery.

Cheese

Or if they are close to the end of the 2 weeks, strawberries and cream

whip up some cream with vanilla essence and candrel (bleruggh!) do some with sugar for you though!

Serve with raspberries or any fruit that is 'allowed'.

I would not expect any pudding if I was doing that diet, especially as you have enough to do preparing the dinner! What a thoughtful host you are. Cheese probably the best bet.

Yes. I agree with Mrs Carrot. You are kind to even think about it. I'm supposed to be on induction atm and we went to a BBQ last week where there was sausages, chicken and pitta bread! Nowt else. So I ate the pitta bread...would have been rude not to

LOL thanks for all your replies!
It is a very good friend (dd's godmother) who really wants to lose weight, it is only her and her dh coming and I am very happy to stick to some atkinsy things but I am just a bit clueless as to what to do

We were thinking of

Bresaola with rocket and parmesan and olive oil

Panfried Hake on a tomatoey sort of thing with some other veggies

I will get cheese defo for her then can make a fruit salad for the rest of us and a sugar free jelly for her so she doesn't feel like she is missing out.

NO PUDDING for your guest. So either serve cheese or torture your guest & serve tiramisu or chocolate truffle roulade, etc.

Eventually, she could could have a few strawberries and some whipped cream (without sugar of course.)

maybe a sweet fluffy omelette with some whipped cream and some Strawberries (not many, but Strawberries are pretty low carb)..you can flavour the Omelette and the cream with things like Vanilla flavouring or/and cinema

Report
3andnomore · 11/05/2007 12:19

oh, obviously sweeten with splenda or such thing

Report
ernest · 11/05/2007 12:20

or ricotta cheese whipped up with vanilla and a bit of splenda? and just a couple of berries on the side, they're not going to break the bank and are nutritious as well as delicious.

My mousse is actually really yummy - I promise - and allowed and very very easy and it looks pretty and puddingy !!

If she's at the stinky-breath stage, remember to sit upwind.

looked at sscatterbrains mousse and thought that would probably make a lovely filling for a sweet fluffy omelette....

wanderingtrolley - if she has stinky breath she isn't drinking enough water. It's not inevitable you know.....
