Hey, I have had two children and need to get back down to around 11st. I am going for the slow and steady approach (although I am 30 in October so needs to be before then!)

I will! I need to lose 28lbs as I'm 12 stone but I need to be 10...well ideally 9 but that's a tad ambitious.

How are you planning to lose? Diet? Exercise?

Healthy eating to begin with then once I have lost a little bit then some exercise too. I have just booked a week in France in July so 2st by then would be great!

Ooh I'll join. I've been doing 3/4 gym classes a week since the beginning of December but need to crack down on the eating. I'm at 11 St 9 but would like to be around 10 by the end of July.

I know my issue is sweet snacks. Portion sizes and regular meals are fine so I'm going to limit to weekend only treats.

I'll join you. I am 12st 10lbs. I have an underactive thyroid so its difficult for me to lose weight but I have done it before. Cutting out snacks and sweet things worked for me but the encouragement of doing it with someone else would really help. I also need to do some exercise as i am very unfit.

Me too!! I am now 12 stone 12 having lost nearly two stone last year. I am going to lose nearly another two stone to be 10.10 and hope to do it by Summer. Very hard for me to lose weight but discovered paleo last year and it changed everything. If I eat no processed food and just natural then I don't get hungry anymore.

Laurawills · 28/01/2016 23:27

Sweet snacks are my downfall too, I just seem to feel hungry when I am sat at my desk all day!

So impressed, I have an underactive thyroid too. The only time ive ever found it easy to loose weight was when I was apparently over medicated with thyroxine. (Despite me feeling 'normal' for the first time in years and feeling rubbish again once the dose was reduced...) Anyway, that's a whole thread in itself!

I'm 13st, I need to be under 10st, I'd love to be 9 and a half. I've lost 3lbs so far this year by cutting out sliced bread. It's been forcing me to eat salads at lunch time which is helping.

SpottyDot · 28/01/2016 23:40

Mummy as you have already cut out bread, do you think you could cut out more carbs? I did it last year and lost nearly 2 stone. I was really amazed as I had struggled for years. I never overate before either but the scales just didn't move downward.

WitchSharkadder · 28/01/2016 23:46

I'm in.

I'm 13st, give or take (scales broke, will buy more so I can be accurate). I plan to eat better in general. I used to be fine but have fallen I to some bad habits of late (too many takeaways and afternoon biscuits instead if a decent lunch). Also plan to do some exercise, I lost loads with The Shred a couple of years ago so might have to dust off the DVD.

MummySparkle · 29/01/2016 07:08

Spotty, maybe. I'm eating a carb-free lunch at the moment, but just having an evening meal with the family. I seem to be doing quite well with just calorie counting at the moment. I've lost half a stone so far. I'll bear it in mind for if I plateau though.
I'm struggling on he way home from work, tend to be desperate to eat some junk by then.

I'm trying everything until I find out what works - the hypnosis gastric band app, 30 Day Shred DVD and Couch to 5k.

I'm a diabetic on insulin so I've cut out chocolate (my downfall). I'm eating smaller portions and I've just done the 2nd day of c25k. Knackered! It's hard having to keep taking my blood sugar too because all this change in routine alters how much insulin I inject and I need to be sure I don't hypo when out running.

But...it's been about 10 days since I started the hypnosis app and dvd and I started at 12 st 2. Today I'm 11st 11 and I've lost 1.5 inches off my waist. Yay!!!

O well done "toothless" . My friend was type 2 and very overweight. She went low carb and lost 6 stone and reduced her medication to nearly nothing. Not sure if she takes any now

So today was my last visit to the sandwich van while at work, all of the Christmas food has been used up and the fridge is full of fresh food. No more excuses, weigh in tomorrow morning!
Toothless I tried to do the c25k 6 months ago and was doing well until it got dark, cold and rainy. When do you fit your runs in?

Thanks spotty. My insulin use has reduced dramatically, so pleased.

Laura sounds like a plan! Yay to fresh food. I'm self employed and only work on average 22 hours a week over 7 days from home so I pop out in the day when the kids are in school. I'm a single mum and 2 DCS have SN so even though they are 12 and 11, I can't leave them alone at all. The second day of c25k was harder today. I should have rested because I am aching. Owwwwww!

Ladies, can I join you too?? I'd love to lose 2 stone by the summer but would be happy just to get the scales moving in the right direction.

I'm 11st at the moment, the biggest & heaviest I've ever been and it's really getting me down. I'm (peri?) menopausal too at 43, (a whole other thread) and feeling lethargic.
I need to make big changes this year, work, body..... But I know I need to build my confidence first and if I feel better about myself it'll come. It's getting started & staying motivated. I like to see a massive difference from the start, so have in the past started off with 2 weeks on slimfast or similar. Lots of people I work with are raving about the C9 but I'm sure this is a gimmick.
I'd really like to do the C25k, I've got the shred DVD along with a few others. I'm vegetarian but really need to cut out sugar.

Your help and support would be invaluable.....

I'd like to join too please! On week 4 of exercise, doing couch to 10k running plan and one class per week but I'm putting weight on Shock so I know it's diet related.
Portion size and crisps are my issues. I'd love to lose 1.5 stone by summer.

Healthy eating shall start Monday ( I need a day to plan). I'm also vegetarian so I find a lot of these 'lean in 15' plans are not great for menu choice.

I'm going to start Monday too.. Hopefully I'll have shaken off this cold by then and have a plan to follow. The hypnosis gastric band sounds interesting, will check it out later..
I think I have just shocked myself into realising that I do need to take action - the scales stopped at 11,9 (although possibly 3lb out) bug that is half a stone heavier than just a month or so ago. My clothes are all so tight, I feel sluggish and I want to hide.
Friends invited us on holiday with them but we said no...... There's no way I could sit by a pool or on the beach. But I want to.

I've just spent 10 minutes on the fitbit app inputting my planned food for the day to see if I can afford to have a roast potato with my Sunday dinner Grin

I missed walking yesterday but did 45 mins exercise instead.

Well, at least you're planning to do something about it laura. I was disgusted with myself for going over 12 stone but let's be positive! Smile

I've not lost any more weight since I last posted but another inch has gone off my waist thanks to The Shred dvd and Davina's dvd.

Did day 3 of C25k today but my knee started hurting really badly so I'm going to have to lay off the running for a good few days.

Still sticking to the hypnosis app and am definitely eating less.

PrudenceDear · 01/02/2016 21:53

Well done toothless on that inch loss. It's great when you start seeing results..... Keep that knee rested though for a bit,

Well done Laura, I too have started my diet today. Actually, since stepping on those scales I've reigned my eating in.

I didn't weigh myself but will next Monday.
Today I've had 2 cups of white coffee this morning, and I had a big bean & veg salad for lunch & dinner.
As tempted as I was by dds cakes that she made at school, I kept away. I've just had some semi frozen mashed banana with berries.

I also listened to a weighloss hypnosis thing that I found on you tube.

Now I'm going to bed .

Tomorrow I aim to start the shred DVD and I may start c25k too...

Can i join you ladies? I am 13st 6 and horrified at myself! Ds is 6 months old now and i weighed less 3 weeks after having him!!

I really want to be the low end of 11st. I can like weight quickly doing WW but I tend to eat loads of salad, veg, chicken then chocolate and wine. So not really addressing my bad habits. I am still bf the baby but he's 6 months so its time for me to get my arse in gear!

Tonight we had chilli and rice, i had about a third of my usual big portion and filled the rest of my plate with salad.

I love exercise but can't seem to fit it in atm. Although i look after my to ponies and shift at least a barrow load of muck each day (with baby strapped to me. In the mud. Its bloody hard going why aren't I thin!!!)

Back at work in 12 weeks and NONE of my clothes fit!!

Nottalotta I could have written your post myself! I have lost 2lbs since mon and am 13st 7. I also want to be in the low 11st area. I am just eating healthily at the moment as I really don't have time to exercise. I have two boys, 3 and 1 and work full time. Life is chaotic most of the time!

I weighed 11st 9 yesterday, down from 12st 2. Great... but today I have eaten LOADS. I can't exercise at all atm, my knee is so bad and I'm really missing it.

But I'm not giving up. I've planned my food for tomorrow to go back to healthy eating. My friend is coming and I resisted her offer of lunch and explained about my diet so we'll be eating healthily and gossiping at my house.

Onwards and upwards.

Welcome Nottalotta & well done Laura - 2lb off already this week. My weight has slowly crept on since having my children, I didn't have time to look after myself & suffered quite badly with pnd.
I feel very bloated tonight but have been very strict and good today. Apart from a bit of milk in my 2 morning cups of coffee, I have been meat free, carb free, dairy free, gluten free since Monday. I have enjoyed smoothies with added flaxseed and lovely fresh salads with beans or eggs. I have to say I have found the hypnosis really helpful.
Today I've discovered delicious chia seeds.... Tomorrow's goal is to work on portion size and eating at better times.
