Use the tube. Northern line to Leicester Square then change to Piccadilly Line to Knightsbridge.

Or something like that. It has been a few years since I last lived in London. I am sure someone with better knowledge will say differently soon.

You only need a zone one ticket.

Oh also can you use a young person's national railcard to get discount on an all day tube ticket?

No need for the tube, seriously.

Print out a good map and walk, it's less than 10 minutes, the tube will take longer.

Oh sorry for some reason I read the op as Selfridges.

Harrods is walkable, but eaiest by tube yes. I doubt you can get a discount without a lt card.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland might be good? It's free so worth a wander.

You go to the Winterwonderland in Hyde Park, it's about 5 mins walk, maybe longer with a toddler from Harrods. It has rides, ice skating and a German style Christmas market.

It's on the same road as Harrods, you will probably see it when you go past.

If I were you I would get the bus from Euston, you will see more sights.

I know you can get the number 73 which will take you to the Winterwonderland at Hyde Park Corner, the you could walk down Knightsbridge, get some lunch and go to Harrods.

Have fun!

There's a skating rink and winter fair at the National History Museum just a five minute walk from Harrods.

Pizza on the Park is on the same road as Harrods, for dinner? Is like Pizza Express but nicer.

Trafalgar Square. There are buses to and from everywhere there, so you could easily get a bus back from Harrods to TS and then a bus from there back to Euston.

The tree is in Trafalgar Square, its not too far, you could walk it in maybe 20 mins. Bound to be a lot of christmassy things going on around it.

The most famous lights are Regents Streets.

Check out the Transport for London website and get a map. If I were on my own or with a baby in a puschair I would walk, but if your 3yo is walking everywhere I would use public transport.

I agree with Waltzy, we always head to Covent Garden when we go into town.

You might enjoy a ride on a rickshaw, where somebody cycles you along, my dd and her friend really enjoyed this, but bid them down, they ask tourist prices, more than a black cab would be for the same journey.

I miss London.

The Natural History Museum ice rink and fair is I think a different thing to the Hyde Park one. And if you have a pram, the tube stations around, at least Knightsbridge, dont have lifts so you have to rely on the kindness of strangers. Tho I went there on Saturday and found random members of the public v happy to help!

I already do MincePirate, hoping to get a job there soon and be a commuter to get a taste of it like dh does.

Then come home to where we can afford a semi and the schools are great blah blah blah.

I think Pillow and I agree, that if you have a pram to walk, if not to use the buses/underground.

The Natural History Museum seems to me like more than a five minutes walk from Harrods? Though it is very lovely there, and at the Victoria and Albert musuem your dd can make her own tree decorations in the basement. Might be a good idea if it's rainy (or snowy) when you visit.
