Anyone enjoy the professionals' opening dance tonight? It was properly bonkers. And nice to see Robin dancing again.

I feared poor Louis Armstrong was spinning in his grave at his enforced duet.

Was Claud speaking Spanish? I think Brendan seems subdued too- hope all is okay.

Thanks Behoove.

I've thought Brendan has been a bit quiet all season too. Maybe it's his last.

The Strongilow duet was odd.

Could someone let me know which dance Sunetra had this week - was it Foxtrot? Missed it and am in charge of the work sweepstake..

From your comments, I can are Steve has gone Sad I guess not a massive shock but he seemed lovely - although his jive wasn't up to much.

I really hope Brendan stays as I have quite a big crush on him - not sure why as there are more handsome bods in the mix. I am loving Pixie and Trent - although she is a complete ringer, there have been some awesome music and costume choices (War of the Worlds!!)

In the bit where people who are leaving normally wax lyrical about their special friendship with their partner Steve replaced it with waxing lyrical about his strictly 'family' ;)

Sunetra danced the Waltz.

I think Sunetra might have the Rumba next week. I think that's probably her last dance.

I'm thrilled to see how much Simon has improved.

Thanks Kiwi - thought she looked gorgeous too but agree, if she's about to Rumba, could be her swan song Sad

I didn't recognise Brendan in the background during one of Claudia's talks before the scores. He looked really old all of a sudden and gaunt. I was actually shocked when I realised it was him.

Poor old Janette. Twice this week she went to high five Jake but he left her hanging Blush

Thanks Behoove Smile

Was that Anya with dyed hair from last year in the opening dance? Or somebody else?

Report
GrouchyKiwi · 24/11/2014 08:13

Robin said it was Anya on ITT last week. I didn't recognise her with the blonde hair.

Report
spookyskeleton · 24/11/2014 09:14

Are you sure it was Anya as it didn't look like her, even accounting for the blond hair Hmm

I wonder why she didn't come back?

I loved the pro dance and it's so nice to see Robin back.

I thought Steve deserved to go. He went a long way on not that much talent. I hope someone had a word with Darcey about the 'guns' comment. Can you imagine the furore if Len said he was saving Sunetra because of her 'ability and bazookas'?
Sunetra will go next; sad but she is reaching her limits. I don't think she and Brendan like each other that much either.

Pixie was overmarked, I thought. Not extreme and goofy enough to be a Charleston and she seemed gawky and too tall for it.

Frankie was DULL as always. Kevin seems to think they've won already. Loved him last year but this time round he's just smug.

Caroline's routine could have been a wow if not for the slip, which she recovered from well but which obviously put her off for the rest of the routine. I don't like her much though; she's had much more experience than anyone lets on.

Jake was great but I wanted less stupid hips and arse stuff and more actual samba-ing round the floor.

Mark had an atrocious song and the routine was too aggressive.

Simon was very good apart from, as they said, letting the steps in his basic salsa moves get too big and so losing the hips and the compact feel of the dance. I like him more and more every week.

The massive ovation for Claudia made me sniffle, as did the moment when Kristina was sweet to her and she said 'Don't be nice to me'. Amazed she was able to carry on; her wobbly voice! Love her even more now.

Is it just me or did both Steve and Sunetra both make quite a few mistakes in the dance off and yet the judges said they both improved? Agree that Darcey's comment about Steve's "guns" were inappropriate and completely undermine her standing as a judge.

It must be the first series where, with 7 dancers to go, apart from Sunetra who is lagging behind a bit, the others are all good, to varying degrees.

Poor old Steve looked geriatric doing that jive. I'll miss him but he looked knackered so I'm glad for him that he's out.

Sunetra was okay. I think she might do well in the rumba actually, it seems to be the fast party dances that she struggles with. I think the rumba will suit her personality a lot more. She is clearly the worst out of everyone who's left though so it probably will be her last week.

I agree that Kevin's annoying this year, which is strange when he was so adorable last year. I haven't really got much to say on their VW - it was technically good. Didn't like the music.

Simon has improved so much, I'm really pleased for him. I absolutely loathe that song he danced to though, I much prefer it when they use proper salsa music.

I'm pleased Mark was able to pull the tango off, and I think his score was completely fair as it was good but not wow-worthy. He can definitely dance, but he needs to improve his technique and finesse now to stand a chance of being in the final.

I liked Pixie's routine actually, it was different. I've enjoyed the majority of Trent's choreography.

Jake's samba was very funny, what on earth were those faces he was pulling?! I don't think it was 10 worthy and I was a bit confused by Len saying it lacked in technique then gave it a 10. Huh? I'm starting to think Jake is a bit of a one trick pony now, I want him to prove he can dance without shoulder shimmying (which he admittedly is very good at) and pulling weird faces. I always think he looks a bit uncomfortable outside of the samba/salsa type dances.

I thought Caroline recovered from her stumble really well. I agree that it seemed to put her off for the rest of the routine but it was good.

I think at the moment, based on performance and technique, that Pixie is the clear front runner. I'll be amazed if she doesn't make the final but I don't know if she's popular enough to win. It would be a bit predictable if she did but I reckon she's got a good chance of coming second. I can see Trent pulling out an amazing show dance for her.

I loved Sunetra's dancing at the beginning but instead of seeing an improvement over the weeks I have seen her performances deterioratingSad
Brendan's demeanour has also deteriorated Sad
