there's loads in the shops and I have bought a couple, but I can't help feeling like I am wearing maternity clothes again!

I'm tall and quite slim but have never been able to wear empire line tops or dresses without looking pregnant (don't even have big boobs!!). Just see loads of other women - of all different shapes and sizes - looking bloody marvellous in theirs .

Just put it down to one of those styles I am never destined to wear.

Yes

I've got one on today and look fine in it. I'm a size 8 on top.

I've got one & I look great in it.

I am 8 months pregnant though !

Lol Liath!

I'm sure I look fine - I am only size 10!

Tinker Sun 11-Mar-07 21:10:04

I'm size 10/12 and I've found I adopt a pregnant posture when wearing one. Still like them though so, so what?

FrannyandZooey Sun 11-Mar-07 21:11:53

They are fab and you can eat what you like in them

MrsBadger Sun 11-Mar-07 21:13:17

I am pregnant and am still avoiding them because they look like the maternity clothes my mum wore.
Just can't getmy head round them (but then I am boring and don't do skinny jeans or leggings either)

WelshBoris Sun 11-Mar-07 21:13:21

Not really keen on the Pucci print ones, was out on Saturday and there is a major overkill on them in Swansea.

I thought it was 1976 at one point.

I have a few, wear them to work or with skinny jeans or leggings.

WelshBoris Sun 11-Mar-07 21:13:48

I was born in 1982 though

Waves at Liath

I am also 8 months pg but wouldn't wear one despite them being ideal as they all seem to have round necks and I only wear v necks Don't think would wear even if not pg - just so unflattering.

tassis Sun 11-Mar-07 21:16:34

i tried several on and look pregnant in them

and given that my mum, SIL and dh's aunt have already asked whether baby number 3 might make an appearance sooner rather than later i'm definitely not going to fuel any rumours

shame because I do like the style

octopussyintummy Sun 11-Mar-07 21:17:47

If worn with skinny jeans (seems to be the trend) may look like a standard lamp ROFL

Nbg Sun 11-Mar-07 21:18:56

WB, I was born in 82 also.
Dh told me I'd look like a twat in a pucci print smock

Still like them though

sassari Sun 11-Mar-07 21:19:54

i love em. like F&Z says, they cover a multitude of squishy bits, and you can eat what you like! hurrah for that.

i like to think i look like a petite thing in a big smocky dress (w the ubiquitous leggings or skinny jeans, of course), as opposed to pg. and anyway, who cares if people think you might be pg under it??

willywonka Sun 11-Mar-07 21:20:49

Don't know what's worse - that you're all born in 82 or that you can wear empire line tops. Grrrrr

princesscc Sun 11-Mar-07 21:21:36

Thats the problem isaidno, once you've been pg, you can't stand the thought of looking pg again!! I still can't wear navy blue, coz i wore it to school and im 39!!!!

satine Sun 11-Mar-07 21:22:20

No.

isaidno Sun 11-Mar-07 21:22:44

And I suppose if / when I get pg again i can wear them anyway!

liath Sun 11-Mar-07 21:23:14

I reckon I might get some non-maternity ones after D-day, they'll be perfect for covering up the post pregnancy bulgy bits! I got my maternity one in New Look and it's got a v-neck too!

I really like all the retro stuff in at the moment, hate being pg and not being able to clothes shop.

princesscc Sun 11-Mar-07 21:24:43

sick with me willywonka - i'm tall, slim, no boobs and 14 in 1982!!

isaidno Sun 11-Mar-07 21:25:30

btw I was born in 1974 so during the 80s I wore my (pucci printed) leggings with an oversized shirt belted tight round the middle, my hair sprayed solid .... so the smock thing is def a better look than that!

liath Sun 11-Mar-07 21:27:17

Urgh, me too isaidno. Poodle perm, the whole lot. Still shudder when I see all those pixie boots back in fashion!

octopussyintummy Sun 11-Mar-07 21:28:30

I have a Cath Kidston retro kaftan - does that count as cool? Tried it on last night - did fit over bump - but a little tight! I don;t really tend to buy trends but things that suit me with maybe a hint of something cool for the season - but working in a secondary school just feel like a complete duffer compared to how cool some of the kids look esp the sixth formers - who all wear those smock tops and def don;t look pg!
