£70 haircut - no-one noticed!

228agreenend · 07/07/2016 22:19

Had my haircut on Tuesday and no one has noticed! Admittedly, the style,is a neater version of what I had before, but I had some highlights put in, and no one has noticed

Dh did give an obligatory 'that's nice' but my teen sons and people at work haven't commented at all. I know think that people think it looks awful, hence no comment.

I know people don't have to say anything, but I'm a little, disappointed when i have spent so,much money, and made more of an effort.

I have had loads chopped before now and nothing. I'm sure it looks lovely but sometimes people just don't notice anything - don't take it to heart

I have £250 colour and people never expect, nor am I offended if they don't!

People won't say anything, I'm sure it does look nice so don't feel bad but sorry, you're being a bit childish about it.

I am wearing obvious dark rimmed glasses for the first time in 2yrs and one person has commented in 2 weeks!

I hate this hence why I have my hair done twice a year. So always a huge change Blushlook like a tramp

You probably always look nice people only notice compliments when they see something drastic X

I recently went from blonde to brown for the first time ever. Dds friend noticed but no one else. She got a big hug and a hot chocolate.

I always think the sign of a really good cut is when it's not glaringly obvious and no one notices outright Smile

I expect no one has noticed, you don't have a price tag on!!

Most people aren't actually that interested.

I prefer it when no one comments! I have mine cut every six weeks and nothing drastic, so it's not glaringly obvious.

I share your pain, I splashed out and got highlights / new cut - cost nearly £200 but I haven't dared tell anyone that. Not a single person noticed. Don't think I'll bother again. I usually dye it myself but I wanted some balyage (on the recommendation of MN), might just get dsd to do it for the cost of a home kit.

Do you feel overcharged?

I don't think the price has any link to whether people notice - you could have a £250 trim, or a £20 extreme cut. If it's just neater than it was, with subtle highlights, people probably just think you look well but can't put their finger on why - and generic compliments are difficult because "You look well!" is taken as "You've put weight on!" by some people... if people aren't 100% you've had something done, they won't want to look stupid, either.

I wouldn't be downhearted.

Oddly enough it's over a year since I've had my hair cut and it's currently waist-length, and has been for a year or so. i keep getting comments asking if I've had extensions... People are generally not attentive!

I don't get my hair done for anyone else, I get it done for me. If I'm happy with it then I don't really care about comments.

Also, I have seen a lot of people with good hair and a lot of people with bad hair - I'd never comment either way. Comments are not an indication on your hair actually looking nice!

I am still tormenting dh with the fact that he missed complimenting a new do for almost a week, when the DPD driver noticed as soon as I opened the gate he is my favourite, and may be the next MrVentamiglia if dh does not pull his socks up

It won't be that they didn't notice it or that they don't like it, it will be that it hasn't occurred to them to comment.

I would only comment on a colleague, friend's hair if it was radically different (colour or style).

I had my boobs reduced (and entire coke cans worth of boob removed). People kept asking me if I'd had a haircut.

Have you considered breast surgery to get them notice your hair?

Unless there's big difference (gone from long blonde to black buzz cut), no one will notice, people just don't.

I get mine done every 8 weeks and mostly nobody says a thing. I'm glad really.

Dafaddu

For years since having kids I could only afford home hair dye and cut my own hair with kitchen scissors. DH has been out of work for three years and we've been surviving on one wage so when he got a new job I decided to splash out and really spoil myself. Wanted something dramatic - wish I hadn't bothered, you're right, it was a rip off.

Honey - would it work to go the other way?

I had my lip pierced and coloured my hair pillar box red. My dad asked if I had changed my glasses HmmHmm

Aw don't feel bad, the main thing is - do you like it? If you do then job's a good'un!

I get my hair cut and coloured regularly and people rarely comment as there is no drastic change but the main thing is if I like it and it's easy to style.

If you want others to notice maybe go for a bit swishy blow dry!

You didn't offend me at all. I had a very out of character, frivolous moment and it was a waste of money!!

The only comment after my last hair cut was "oh my goodness, you look even more like your mother." ..... Now need to do something drastic with my hair! Grin
