Do I want to wear either of these dresses to a wedding?

I am going to a wedding next week. Nothing too smart and in South of France. I am a Size 16, aged 39 and very conscious of my arms and stomach. I want to dress age appropriately and not like a granny. Most of all I want to feel at ease in what I am wearing.

What do you think of these two dresses? Can you recommend anything else? Budget up to around £150. It will be too hot to wear a jacket so would prefer to go for the long sleeves option.

I think the floral one is gorgeous and really fitting for a wedding in the south of France

I like the floral one best.

Definitely the floral one for summer.

Any other suggestions of dresses as I would like to try a few.

Would these espadrilles go with the dress?

I would say the second one. Much more stylish than the floral. Plus the cut of the floral one smacks of wanting to cover yourself up (which i know you want to do, but you don't want it to look like If you see what I mean!).

Second one is more youthful too.

I love the flowery one, perfect for a wedding Smile

I far prefer the floral one. I'd wear it and I'm 32.

I think floral is good. It could be really hot and you will be roasting in the second one. I like your second one but it's more worky I think.

Thanks for the ideas Whatchama but I really would like my arms covered. I feel if I wear a shawl, people will expect me to take it off if it gets too hot.
Would love to hear of any other ideas though

I really don't like the sleeves on the first one-it's rather voluminous and the sleeves are a bit bat-like. The second one is nice though.

Aargh - they've now sold out of my size on the floral one so back to choosing another dress...
Something nice with sleeves. Possibly floaty? Has anyone had experience of Lindy Bop dresses?

How about this one?

I tried it on the other day and it is very slimming - it has an inner sheath made of something very girdle-like, so that the outer layer then gently skims over everything.

If you can bear a tiny cardigan, I tried this one on too, and it is incredibly flattering and very weddingy.

I have one Lindy bop dress, pretty true to size. I was pleased with it.

Which one did you buy BonerSibary? They all seem quite fun and very reasonably priced.
I like many of the ones you sent Chilipreper, especially the first one. There are so many dresses on the ASOS site - I had a good look earlier but had not seen any of the links that you sent me.
Keep them coming!

I am same size and like my arms and tummy covered, I was at a wedding this weekend and a friend was wearing a maroon coloured skater style dress ( not short, closer to knee length)with lace sleeves. I coveted it and she said it was from coast. I can't seem to find it but perhaps long lace sleeves would be a good option. I was wearing three quarter lace sleeves and never felt sweaty or uncomfortable but felt my arms were disguised enough!

Oh, and the other 2 dresses I bought as options were lindybop! I like their fit and they are always well made but with the long sleeve options I felt they were too heavy and restrictive to wear the whole day/ dance in at night!

Can't seem to find it now OP, it was a year or two ago, but it was this type of style rather than a wiggle or low cut one.

Definitely very fun and the price was great. Agree with pp they're more heavy and restrictive then you'd think though. Well sized, but not a lot of give. I suppose that might make them not the best choice for a hot wedding. Some of them look a bit lighter than others though.
