Is it really necessary to go to a salon for a brazilian wax?

Or are there any home kits that work?

I'm really getting sick of shaving and I feel like a wax might be the way forward. I'd just much prefer to do it myself than have someone else do it.

I couldn't be arsed to do it myself. And might be hesitant about ripping off the wax.

No. I do my own.

Boots own prewaxed strips are fine for me. After shower wax from back to front crouching over a mirror. Easier if you take small matchbox sizes strips at a time.

I'm quite a fast waxer though so it doesn't bother me.

I would get it done at a salon the first time personally...I did purely because it wouldn't be down to me to rip the first strip off once it was stuck!! Once I'd had it done professionally and got a good idea of the pain, I realised I could do it myself at home Smile even though majority of the time, my close friend (beauty therapist) does it for me. For some strange reason, I find spreading my cheeks, doggy style in front of my best mate more dignified than squatting over a mirror Hmm

No, I do mine myself.

I find hot wax way, way easier and less painful than wax on strips.

I use the Nads Brazilian wax that you put in the microwave. It's great.

Is it really necessary to have a Brazilian wax? Are all your partners unable to cope with what nature endowed us with? Feminism is dead.

I can't speak for anyone else Mishaps but I just prefer not having hair down there. I'm actually single so it's got nothing to do with pleasing a partner for me.

To each their own and all that.

I was actually looking at that one earlier but some of the reviews put me off. Lots of people saying it's messy, very painful, a faff to use, etc.

That said I still might give it a go. It looks so much easier and less painful than waxing strips.

Shock

How painful is it exactly?

Feminism is dead.

Because some women exercise choice over their own body topiary? Really?

Well, that's a strange branch of Feminism.

What utter tripe. Can we take it that you do not remove hair from any other part of your body then? Legs? Armpits? You know, since those are also things "nature endowed us with". What about styling your hair (on head)? Or do you leave that as nature intended too? Makeup? Deodorant? You get the picture...

Veet oriental wax is the one I use for a Brazilian. It costs about £10.59 and I do it myself. Better than the £25 I paid in the salon!

Go to a salon that uses hot wax - not strip wax - and get someone with a qualification in intimate waxing.

Can I ask how painful is it exactly? I've always wanted it doing but I'm a bit scared 🙈

I would say waxing is quite painful around the lips. For the first time I would suggest going to a salon to just look at techniques.

When I wax I would get a glass of alcohol and take sips. Once I get to the underneath I would take shots and the pain is still there but I don't care!

I tried to do it myself but I was always too much of a wuss to pull it off properly. I am too lazy for the salon so shaving it is (apart from when I sometimes go through an immac phase).

There is always someone who comes on these threads talking about feminism. I like having choice over my body. My pubic hair has been all there, all gone and partly shaved off over stages of my relationship with my husband and he has never stated a preference. I do what is best for me (and my swimming costume)

Mishaps - feminism is giving a man or woman the freedom to do what they want to their own body.

As for OP maybe get some wax kits and try them out on a less sensitive area like your legs? Then you can get to grips with the strips before putting them anywhere that might hurt a little more if it was to go wrong

Madison not going to lie to you....the first time HURT. Especially around the "stretchier" parts Confused But once that first time is over with, it's not as bad Smile the hairs grow back finer so it doesn't take as much of a pull to get them out

I wouldn't. Tried to do it once and after the first strip I put on the second but was too cowardly to rip it off so wax went cold and sticky and....It wasn't a good evening trying to cut it off from very short hair.

There was blood. And skin.

I wonder whether a Lumea would be less painful?

I do it. I have a hot waxing kit in which you just rip off the wax itself once it cools a bit.

Trim your hair before you start, do very small sections while pulling your skin taut.

I don't trust myself to go through with ripping off the strip. Also have a pretty impressive scar from EMCS so I'd rather someone else did it!

I have regular Brazillian waxes at a salon and have done for years but don't feel able to do it myself. Not as professionally anyway. Those who do, how do you see to do your bum area?!

I wish I could do it myself though, would save a fortune!
