Charlotte Tilbury total waste of money

Has anyone used the Charlotte Tilbury brand? I bought some blusher and mascara. After 3 months the blusher has cracked and crumbled to the point I can't use it and the mascara has become gloopy and lumps on my lashes.

It wasn't cheap and I contacted customer service to suggest that the blusher should last longer and they haven't even bothered to respond. Just thought I'd post to warn others before you make an expensive mistake buying from this brand.

Oh I totally agree.

Her products are overpriced shite. If she didn't pay inane bloggers to shill her stuff, no-one would buy it.

I like her matte lipstick.

I think the packaging is cheap looking and dated. (Tom ford is sexing packaging. Nanas old lippy is not)

I'm singularly unimpressed by the one eyeshadow quad I own.

Yeah the packaging is naff isn't it. I'm so over rose bloody gold..

I have just put on the dolce vita eyeshadows which I really like. Also love the matt lipsticks.

I don't think many mascaras last more than 3 months to be honest.

I have read that her bronze and glow often crumbles as well but I don't tend to take mine out and about.

Agree Tom Ford lipsticks are the best but they are even more £££

Perhaps it's style over substance.
Charlotte Tilbury appears to be loved by the fashionistas.

I have a lipstick I really like but I know what its like to not get on with a brand, I hate Bare Minerals

Definitely style over substance! The blusher never left my dresser, it just started to crack and then one day it was crumbled!

For the price, you'd hope that at least there would be some customer service.

I love it all, I've never had an issue with it.The lip liners are incredible IMO. Blushers crack unfortunately, that isn't brand dependent, there are tutorials on youtube of how to put them back together.

You should also be throwing mascara away after 3 months strictly speaking (although realistically nobody does that with pricey ones), maybe they created the formulation to only last the "allotted" time.

Oh and if you have any social media contact them over that, people tend to listen much more when it's a public complaint.

I do agree that the CT stuff is overhyped guff but the mascara is getting toward its use by date and so will be getting gloopy and blobby because of the bacteria and exposure to air rather than any issues with quality. You get that with a £1.99 collection mascara or a £35 Chanel one.

Yep totally agree, i bought an eyeliner pencil and a lip pencil and the first time I wore them, the eyeliner had migrated down my face by the time I got into work and the lipliner had vanished. On the other hand, I recently bought a H and M eye pencil for a fraction of the price and tis fab quality, lasts perfectly all day.

Totally agree. Bought an eye shadow quad and while the colours are lovely the pigmentation is crap, on a par with a much cheaper brand. The eyeliner pencil I bought was fine, but nothing special.

I've never had a blusher crack....maybe I've just been lucky, but I've used everything from Bourjois to Chanel, and never had that happen, so I wouldn't be too chuffed.
With the mascara though, I never have one that lasts that long for a start - perhaps because I use so much of it - but after 3 months I'd probably be binning it anyway for the reasons others have already explained.
Charlotte Tilbury doesn't seem to be sold locally to me so I haven't tried it....probably wouldn't bother now having read this!

I'm not a fan of CT's make up style anyway and find her difficult to warm to in interviews and whatnot. She's well in with beauty journos and the beauty blogger community so when she launched her range they were all over it like a sycophantic rash whether it was utter shite or not.

She comes across as a bit of a dick herself, I remember watching one of her videos and she said something like "are you watching darling?" Its a flipping video, you are talking to a camera!!!! Also, she looks old, I have no idea how old she is but her skin looks 50+ easily but her style wouldn't suggest that so I don't think she has aged very well.

She's indeed a bit bonkers, I remember an interview where she said that she cleanses her face every evening before putting on fresh makeup to sleep in! Apparently her husband has never seen her without makeup.

But I love her colour chameleon eyeshadow sticks. Love them.

I agree that packaging is quite naff though. Art deco in a 1980s style.

Ha! Love the idea of fresh make up before bed, but at the same time, yuk. Reminds of that Cheryl woman who used to be on Neighbours. She'd come down to Lou at breakfast in her nightie and make up you could scrape off.

I have been eyeing (pardon the pun) the Eyes to Mesmerise, but I have also discovered that the Max Factor ones have a similar texture and the colours I want at a fraction of the price, so will hold off a bit. I would definitely like the bronze and highlight palette thingy though. Bloggers I trust rate her, but there are always going to be products or ranges that don't work for people. Not a make up one, but I think Oskia and Omorovicza are overrated, and loads of people seem to love them.

NattyGolfJerkin · 07/10/2015 10:55

She favours that sort of 'high glamour make up that's been slept in' sort of a look which isn't particularly flattering on most faces.

Nabootique · 07/10/2015 11:19

From what Squoosh said she probably has slept in it Natty Grin

I like the much hyped oskia cleanser but that's it.

Nabootique I'd forgotten all about Cheryl! Blast from the 1990s past. I googled her and this photo of her on her death bed came up.

She's my kinda gal, 'I'm very ill so just half a tonne of makeup and three cans of hairspray please'.
