Style and beauty

style idea for Golden Wedding lunch (quite posh)

poppym12 · 19/05/2015 09:36

i'm going to a country house type place for a celebratory lunch. lots of family will be there (some of whom i haven't seen for years). i live in jeans and boots/converse but would like to make an effort to look nice.

please help!!

i've been looking for a dress but everything seems to be really strappy and short or too 'wedding guest-y'.

This sort of thing?

What's your size, shape, colouring and what's the budget?

many thanks pants, all lovely dresses. colouring wise, i'm lightly tanned with brown/reddish hair. i tend to avoid red clothing as i think i'd look like a giant tomato. at the moment i am a size 16, hourglass shape, i am very self conscious of my giant thighs Blush.

i sound sooo attractive! this is why i usually hide away in jeans and baggy clothes.

Phase right is a good place to look. Also try Boden. This is sold outwww.

like the style of that one silver (it looks very forgiving). i don't wear silk but something in that style would be ok.

I was having a bit of a red moment Smile

Would you feel happier in trousers and a nice top?

What's the budget?

I don't know how I posted half a post! Sorry. What I was trying to say is that dress is sold out in your size but the shape could work.

i fancy trying a dress pants for a change (providing i can find one that doesn't make me look like an elephant. i'm very ashamed at the weight i have gained in the last 2 or 3 years Blush. before i became ill, i was slim, fit and active so i struggle with how i look now).

what would you describe the shape as silver and i'll see if i can find something similar.

sorry, forgot to say, budget less than £100. also, ideally needs to go with one of the 3 pairs of smart sandals i have which are black mules, tan heels or blue block-ish heel (not sure if thats how to describe them).

Listen to Pants. She's ace.

(Although I haven't dared tell her what I ended up buying in the end, as it's bonkers)

loving the 'fit and flare' style and i tried one on before which seemed to suit me (it was a bit too small and they didn't have the next size up). i'd prefer sleeveless if possible. just on or above the knee looks good Smile

I really like the look of this dress; no idea if it's remotely the right sort of thing though!

You know I said I wanted classy, sleeves, natural fabrics etc?

I purchased:
